If I use a Guildmage's Forum to cast my Athreos, God of Passage and I don't have any devotion (other than Athreos), does he enter with a +1/+1 counter? Same quesion (about the counters) applies to Opal Palace.
Some say yes due to "that (thing)" generally meaning "that card", and others say no because it isn't a creature when it enters and thus can't get a counter.
Thanks for the reply, but I'm a bit confused about the "If you blow it up, the trigger will not resolve and then Dance of the Dead will go to the graveyard for being an Aura on the battlefield not attached to anything." comment.
If I'm blowing it up with the Krosan Grip, then it would go to the yard because of that.
Also, is there a rule about the intervening "if" clause and how it functions? If not, is there something about the "enchant creature in a graveyard" bit or how auras work?
So I was playing a game recently where my opponent played Dance of the Dead, and I had a Krosan Grip sitting in my hand. The creature he pulled back helped him win the game.
After some Googling, it looks like I might have been able to Grip the Dance and prevented that creature from coming back due to some intervening "If" clause.
So, my question is, "Could I have prevented the creature from coming back?" If so, which rules state that I can?
I don't think this is a valid case. City of Solitude does not say I "can't" anything. It states when I can do things. It's not the same as something like Grand Abolisher, which states something "can't" be done.
I think yes because, like the Hideaway lands, it creates a window to cast it. But the Oracle rulings for Mind's Dilation says it doesn't get around things that say "Cast only during combat."
My question relates to how an Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder and Illness in the Ranks already on the field work together if I cast a card with 8 CMC or higher. Would I still have to sac Endrek if the tokens come in dead?
If I cast Windgrace's Judgement and my opponent uses Zedruu the Greathearted to give his permanent away, does Windgrace's Judgement not blow up their permanent?
Thanks in advance!
I recently played a game where there may have been a decently large misplay, but I'd like to ask to be sure.
So, in my Kethis, the Hidden Hand deck, I had a graveyard full of good stuff, including a variety of legendary creatures, and The Great Henge.
I then played Primeval's Glorious Rebirth and brought back 10 creatures and the Henge.
So, my question is, did all 10 creatures coming back get +1/+1 counters and draw me 10 cards? Or did I get nothing? Why?

So do I get to cast cards from Mind's Dilation or no?
I'm starting a new EDH deck with Yahenni, Undying Partisan as the commander.
