Yeah....I'm 3 citys and a few 3bslls away from the deck and the legacy scene in my area is kicking up. And I do so love playing the same deck in multiple formats.
If you ask a lot of pros/grinders they will often tell you to go with whatever deck you feel you are the best with/most comfortable with. Reiterating Russ again. Modern is a rather open format and each deck has it's matchups.
Ponza feels good now a days for all the reasons Russ mentioned. Just if they start running multiple land destruction in a row it can set us back a bit otherwise I think our W% increased with the BBE unbanning but bridge is rather crucial.
And Russ I am officially adopting your name of Ball Breaker. Though the irony of a deck being to slow that exclusively caters to hasty threats does tickle me a bit.
That seems fun for some silver bordered constructed. Russ and I spent the evening throwing balls at our opponents faces. And just reread it and realized you sac it and it isn't a continuous effect so I'm a little less happy about the plan now but testing needs to happen !!
So looking through the spoiler list....how do we feel about "Flame of Keld" first counter locks us for bridge second is card advantage and third accelerates our clock by a lot. Turns our rabbles into monsters.

+1 Add RRR. Spend this mana only to cast instant or sorcery spells.
+1 Discard up to three cards, then draw that many cards.
-8 You get an emblem with You may cast instant and sorcery cards from your graveyard. If a card cast this way would be put into your graveyard, exile it instead.
Not what i was hoping to see. Really crushed my hopes for a new big walker for the deck I guess Chandra: TOD reigns supreme still. Maybe new Karn could be possible?
Well, I am considering dropping mom and pop nalaar from the main and dropping Hazoret in their place from the side. Dropping 1 shattering spree for a 2nd boil and a thundermaw/Stormbreath in the side to shore up my matches. Local UW grinder said he is entirely afraid of my deck and my match up vs him on Friday showed why in the top 8
Fluffy, I found a card and i immediately thought about you because you were trying Crumble to Dust for a while.. Ruination. Its a one-sided Armageddon for 4, and I think it's pretty much an auto win vs Tron, especially with a Chalice on 1. I'd love to see you give it a try on stream!
Im sorry to tell ya man but that card isn't modern legal. Stronghold and a Commander set was its only printings.
Burning earth can be quite the answer though they do have wear//tear in sb that will ofcourse be brought in to answer. I pulled my magus/rabbles +1 moon for cages, skite, angers, torpor, and hazoret. Not sure if that was the correct sideboard but it is best i could figure.
Hello mountainfolk!
Greetings i hope all of you had a good weekend of mooning and bridging opponents. I myself went 4-1 in my fnm and then proceeded to lose my quarterfinals match. Ah well it was a good night and i felt great to ok about all my matches except one but we will get to that in a moment. A quick breakdown of my matches went something like this
R1-I honestly dont remember it was a long night preceeded by a long day and it was over quick and clean with a 2-0
R2- WB death and taxes 2-0
R3- Mono Green Tron 2-0
R4- AdNauseum 2-1
R5- Mardu Pyromancer 0-2
QF- Mardu Pyromancer (same opp) 0-2
If anyone wants more details ill be glad to add to. But onto the meat and potatoes of this post. Mardu Pyromancer!! I know the deck i know the list and the plan but i just seemed unable to keep up with it at all. All it ever took was a top decked KCommand to just lose everything and even when i was in control of the board I never felt like I was in control. Just a mage hiding behind a bridge waiting for the inevitable. Bedlam Reveler just became way to hard to answer at all points and was my ultimate downfall each match. Maybe if Fluffy or Russ or our esteemed leader Ray have any tips it would be much appreciated. But on my own I have come with a list of cards that might work if the deck comes more prevalent.
Chandra's defeat- beats out reveler/ mirror match breaker
Buried ruin - buy back a lock piece. Con- Turned off by our moon.
Roast- beats reveler/angler/tasigur Con- Slow and a bit narrow.
Chandra flamecaller - repeatable board clear /game ender and draw engine. Con- mana cost
Trading Post- does all we need it to behind a bridge. cons - opponent is going to be bringing in artifact hate.
These are just soft ideas to be had and maybe it is just my inexperience with the matchup but with Gerry Ts 2nd place finish i expect plenty of this deck to start popping up and we need answers stat.
