The sad truth is that Magic doesn't really fit the movie medium unless you specifically turn each of several stories into films, as it is an ongoing story with hugely different worlds.

The Ravnica cycle of novels would be great if handled properly as a detective-story-becomes-disaster-movie; the Kamigawa cycle has potential if it focuses enough on Toshi and Michiko; anything with New Phyrexia or Return to Ravnica would be silly without its predecessor; Zendikar is just a D&D campaign with a bad ending; the Odyssey/Onslaught double block is pretty weird, but has some potential too because of the characters.

Of course they could just go full disaster movie and film Invasion or Time Spiral without anything making any sense whatsoever since everything is a reference to someone/-thing that hasn't been mentioned before.

Weatherlight (the ship and its crew, not the set) is a distinct possibility, but only if there are plans to cash in on it in regards to newer players, since everything seems to focus on NeoWalkers nowadays.

I like the two white mana symbols in the cost. Could fit nicely in a white devotion deck with Phalanx Leader.

Awesome job! All of this really helps dig into the flavor of the set. "Xenagos" meaning "leader of foreigners", with a modern connotation of "guide", would make sense if it is indeed him as a god on the picture with Elspeth and Ajani before him - he is literally guiding the otherworlders' quest (even if that means becoming the BBEG). It seems less menacing, however, when an evil god is basically named "tourist guide".

    Quote from Jaka
On a sidenote Meletus was the main accusor in the prosecution and subsequent execution of Socrates, also probably accidental.

A foreshadowing that the city of Meletis will turn against Perisophia, perhaps?

Stick it on a blocker in a limited control deck and it'll be worth it.

Too bad it's uncommon, but hey, that means we'll see fewer of them.

The flavor is also very nice.

Seems a bit weird to get monsters as a hero, flavor-wise.

"I choose the Path of Wisdom, and expect to think everything through and follow reason with my every step."
    "HAVE A KRAKEN."
"... Really? Is it at least wise?"
    "IT BREAKS SHIPS."

I like the irony of how Diminish doesn't counteract Enlarge that much.

    From the official announcement:
The fifteenth card in all Dragon's Maze packs isn't basic land; it's nonbasic land.

SvenskaMagic does seem to have a bit of trouble with the Guild booster - just pulled a Frenzied Tilling from a Boros booster.

    Otherwise nicely done.

Disagree. I think he's onto something. Niv-Mizzet is by far the most important dude in RTR. Although we don't know the details, he's clearly directing the major activity on Ravnica. Perhaps Zegana or the merfolk are instrumental in the storyline? But how?

You only think that because it's what Lazav wants people to think.
He's even gone so far as to name the final set "Dragon's Maze" in order to steal attention away from what he's planning. IN THE SECRET FOURTH SET

    Quote from Rhadamanthus
That should be correct. The rulings and rules updates that first came along with Flourishing Defenses indicate that its ability triggers at the time the creature entering with counters enters the battlefield. That means Fathom Mage's ability exists at the time it would trigger from the event, so it does trigger.

Neither Flourishing Defenses nor Doubling Season is the creature entering the battlefield with counters on it, so it doesn't necessarily make precedence if the ability to be triggered doesn't regard The Mimeoplasm as a creature yet.
However, aside from explicit exceptions, +1/+1 counters can only exist on permanents, and if The Mimeoplasm is a permanent, it ought to default as a creature.

I'm sure both that there exists someone else with enough knowledge about the rules who is able to quote the correct paragraph, and that the Gatecrash FAQ will contain an answer to the question (since Fathom Mage and Dearly Departed will exist simultaneously in Standard).

It's probably just that the art on the new Simic (Novijen?) Guildmage doesn't look that good when cropped and placed on a booster pack.

And what is the consequence of overlooking the untap effect? Does it still happen then or can they willingly not do it?

The text you quoted says that the situation is no longer qualified as a "Missed trigger".

The summarized rules changes in the first pot of the thread says that the "Forgetting to remind your opponent is fine"-clause only applies to missed triggers, and is considered Cheating - Fraud in all other situations (including, according to the SoFaF example, a situation that involves a trigger but isn't technically a "Missed trigger").

Sounds like the Goblin tokens for the M13 league.

Also reminds me of Hunted Dragon, since as I don't recall other Knight tokens from Ravnica.

Nothing says card advantage like gaining 10 life, drawing 5 cards and making a 3/3. It's just too bad that they curve into each other the wrong way. But then again, this way you have enough mana for a Ranger's Guile if they try to remove your sacrifice.
