    The rules.

    1: Have Fun!!!
2: Each round, except round 1 (signup round), will have a theme, and the contestants will design cards to match that theme.
    3. Players may submit a new, original card, or any card[s] they have created, so long as they are the players own original design and the card[s] meet the challenge requirements. Last word on meeting these requirements and any penalties is up to the hosts.
4: Each round will have 4 days to submit cards and 3 days to to vote for the cards.
5: Judging is only done by poll and the player with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. Voting will be public and open to the general public. You may vote for as many, or as few cards as you like (including yourself if you want). The host(s) have final say on the validity of a vote in the case of questionable votes.
6: Any player that doesn't submit a card for any reason will be eliminated.
7: If a player submits a card or cards that does not meet the challenge requirements, that player may receive a DQ and be eliminated. If possible, the player in question will be notified to try and correct the problem before the end of the round. If the mistake is not corrected or is not caught until after the voting has begun, then the hosts will decide if a DQ will be assigned.
8: If there's a tie for the lowest vote total, all those people get to stay in the game but they get a black mana next to their name. Anybody who already had a :symb:, however, is out. Players that get a black mana will keep it until he or she is eliminated or we reach the Top 7 bracket.
Anybody with three or less votes in a single round will also receive a :symb:. Similar rules apply.
9: The game will continue until we have a single champion... our Design Idol.
10: If the winner of the last Design Idol returns to defend his or her title (he or she must now sign-up like everyone else), he or she will earn a white mana beside his or her name. This means if he or she would earn a black mana for a round, the white mana falls off instead. Or, if that player would face single elimination, the white mana will convert into a :symb:. If the white mana goes unused by the time we reach the Top 7 Bracket, it will fall off.
11: The Top 4 of the last Design Idol get the right to "shotgun" a place on the new season. The same is true for hosts, only they get shotgun rights for two seasons. (So any hosts of Season VI can shotgun in VII and VIII). They still have to create a card for the first round, however.

New Rule: Renders may be submitted, but text is required. The text of the card will be copied and pasted into the poll with any links.

Last round Eventide Sojourner got the fewest votes, and was eliminated, leaving

According to me? You seem to know my position better than I do.

Well yes, if I leave with my justly acquired property its a breach of contract.

No, you were treated as being the child of American parents or guardians; your "consent" was dictated by their choices rather than yours, as it is with minors for legal proceedings and medical procedures and everything else. The key here is that now in your majority you can renounce American citizenship and emigrate at any time. Some countries actually require their citizens to take an oath of loyalty or otherwise affirm their citizenship on majority or it's automatically renounced. (This is why Barack Obama isn't a Kenyan citizen.) America of course doesn't do that, but by living here and continuing to accept the rights and responsibilities of American citizenship when you're free to leave you're implicitly providing consent in basically the same way.

Also, do you acknowledge that Brazil and other countries are not sanctioning you for not choosing to be one of their citizens?

Yes, of course. I am not sanctioned by the government of Brazil. I am pretty sure there are some threats that I'm ignoring (see illegal immigration). However that's irrelevant. My position is not "All governments sanction all individuals." My position is that "Governments threaten their own citizens with sanction. As such, the compliance of their citizens cannot be evidence of consent."

Are you leading up to the claim that the UN's oft-bemoaned limp-wristedness is somehow effective?

Well, I wouldn't bemoan the lack of enforcement power. My point is simply that it isn't acting as a government. I am unsure as to what is causing the period of peace, but its happening with no super-government. I agree with you that this is amazing. It should be more amazing for those who believe that no government equals war of all against all, as it would be theoretically impossible.

It's been around implicitly since before humans were human. As it takes many different forms from society to society and is usually inarticulate behavior patterns rather than a formalized document, to speak of its "terms" in any but the broadest sense is futile and potentially misleading. Parties enter the contract through performance, willingly living together in communities as opposed to going off alone into the wilderness.

Except the equivalent of going off into the wilderness is a breach of contract, according to you. This means that at the moment the person chooses to stay or go they are bound by the contract. So that choice can't be constituted as agreement to the contract.

Whatever makes you think this? Are you under sanctions from the government of Brazil for not being a Brazilian citizen? Were you required to make an irrevocable choice not to be Brazilian when you were still a minor?

I wasn't required to make a choice not to be Brazilian. However, I am treated as having made a choice to be American while being a minor.

Hahah, I was waiting for somebody to argue this.

    There are several reasons:

    (1) first off, in terms of deciding issues, the US and The first world nations can pretty much exploit & bully the rest of the world through force of might. Those nations use are far far wealthier and use up a disproportionate percentage of resources compared to other countries. If the US oil supply 3000 miles away from us is ever threatened, we have troops in the ground, carriers in the sea, and planes overhead within the week. Meanwhile most of the world lives in poverty, and a constant state to survive. In the schoolyard of the world, in terms of govt's, we got a handful that are smart, educated and very strong, and get to eat all the candy, and we got the majority of govt's that are very weak, often pretty cowed or stupid, and probably schizophrenic as well.

    (2) Nations are more like aggressive plants than they are animals. It's not a simple matter for Brazil to TAKE OVER Australia, or for Germany to TAKE OVER Europe. Though war is happening constantly somewhere in the world and pretty much always has been. In the modern world, it's quite easy for a stronger nation to defeat a weaker nation's military... but it's insanely difficult to occupy the defeated nation especially from across the world.

    (3) Geography and culture define nations as much as the "will" of govt's do, and geography takes thousands of years to change and culture takes decades. Brazil's govt may like what Australia has, but what does it mean to absorb Australia? Are Brazilians better off in any way by planting a Brazilian flag in Australia and saying that Australians are now Brazilians?

    (4) Empire. Whether economic or military or geographic. The ones that have it pretty much dominate and exploit everybody else. You could argue that the rules of international banking, and the rules defining world markets do in fact constitute a single set of rules that everybody must follow, not some loose agreement. Everybody plays ball with the gang of first world powers. And the 2nd and third world live in ****.

    1. Yes. Those with the most power somehow get the best goodies. This is true of any society I've seen. I don't think any society can eliminate this, even anarchy. However, a government society can't eliminate this. It has a poor track record of curbing this tendency. So it can't be a point against anarchism.

    2. Also true of individuals. Holding a slave and having them be productive in anything besides manual labor is almost impossible. Mugging someone is easy.

    3. Not quite relevant.

    4. See point 1.

    Quote from Captain_Morgan
UN, IMF, Geneva Convention, NATO, and ect. are some forms of government.

These are not governments. They lack the monopoly on the use of force. The UN has no police power. Any UN peacekeeping action is just a justification for some country or group of countries to act. It has no legislative power. UN resolutions are willfully ignored without consequence all the time. Its judicial power is different, in that parties to a dispute must agree before they can be judged.

you're comparing the economic viability of a cruise ship to the economics of a floating nation?

Cruise ships are RESORTs. They generate income because a tourist population (passengers) more than 10 times the size of the "native population" ( the staff ) visit and spend massive amounts of disposable income (Which they earned during the other 51 weeks of the year).

Yes, they are resorts. I never said they aren't. However, the costs of running a cruise ship should be comparable. There are differences, but for a quick comparison it is useful. If someone can afford to live in a hotel, they can probably afford to rent an apartment in a similar location.

Under the dominion of treaty and international law we're allowed to call a "cat" a "cat" since we maintain the agreement that "f catus" is not "C. l. familiaris and C. l. dingo." This is what government allows for in law, to take the abstract and bring that abstract into the specificity "enough" that allows for mutual arbitration to begin.

Thanks for the example of a persistant and semi-functional state of anarchy. Governments in the world relate to each other in an anarchistic state. There is a loose framework of specific agreements with generally accepted laws. There is no complete agreement on what those laws should be. There is no authority that writes or enforces them. There is no government, and yet international relations don't devolve into an endless war of all against all. Nor does it devolve into every weak country being enslaved and looted by stronger countries as the constant rule.

Why can Australia and Brazil get along with no government over them while Adam and Bob can't?

One person is not "the population". He is a member of the population.

If two or more parties have a contract, they can arbitrarily dissolve the contract only through mutual agreement. Unilateral withdrawal is only justified in response to serious abuses.

Who are the parties to this contract? What are the terms? How did these parties enter into the contract?

If you want to invoke a contract, you have to show that this contract exists. You also have to answer two possible defenses. A contract is not valid if the parties were not competent to contract or were under duress. If there is such a contract, it started to apply in infancy (competence) and legal sanctions for not agreeing are omnipresent (duress).

They specifically state in the article that there would be looser building laws which is part of the reason so many of us think this is funny.

I know, because the incentive of avoiding being fined by the government is what keeps my house standing. If it fell, it could cost me tens of thousands of dollars and my life. However that's not an incentive for me to build a sturdy house.

The lack of natural resources isn't an issue, any major city produces wealth without producing natural resources.

As for the costs problem, I don't think its too bad. Cruise ships manage to be profitable. They can do it without inhuman working conditions. There are a significant number of people whose daily income is higher than the cost of a cruise.

As a libertarian, I view this as pointless. If it started to work, the states of the world would cut off trade. Any community of this size, even without the overhead of a sea based environment cannot survive in isolation.

    I have 2 questions.

Chibithulu, how do you know there can't be 2 millers in a non-bastard mod game?

Arachnoid, How do you know that there can't be a voteless redshirt? I'm reading this as a backdoor claim that you are a voting redshirt. Is there some assurance that all redshirts have the same abilities?

I do not think a claim would help us.

Why does a full claim help us more than scumhunting and then having a claim before lynch? Its the standard procedure for a reason. It works. Full claims direct any scum power roles. Our cops will be roleblocked and our docs nightkilled.

Location, not creature for the second.

For the first, either can be uncontrolled. I know its a vague request. The flavor should fit. There are no specific mechanical requirements.
