so if i attack with her and search an opponent's library for an [cardeldrazi monument[/card] it gets exiled right? and then i get to play it until end of turn. now my question is will the monument stick for only a turn or if i play it will it stay permanently?
When ~ enters the battlefield, destroy target non-vampire creature and put a copy of it into play under your control. treat it as a vampire in addition to its other types.
sice wizards is pushing vamps to the top, i foresee this kid of vampire i RoE (which might also be the set's chase rare)

you choose a non-land, non-creature spell from it. that player discards that card.
1/1
the one thing it does need is another win condition outside of nocturnus or kalstria, any ideas?
eldrazi monument i think this is the kind of vamps build which would like the highborn ghast combo.
anyways so im currently testing this build.. its by far sick. i now know how it managed to smash junds on that tourney. its super annoying and fast. not to mention this is the kind of deck highborn would most likely be optimized.
the martyr cycle.. (ex. martyr of sands) thoughtseize its balanced and a great card for black.
the original 5 walkers except elspeth and tezzeret replaces ajani and old jace vampire nocturnus seeing as wizards love to push vamps
as of the moment i dont have any fecthlands yet. nor kalastria highborns
i know some of you will be wondering why i play disfigure over urge to feed. mana dorks can sometimes outrace and out tempo vamps. for some reason id like to have a turn 1 kill on their dorks. so that they will lay a threat 1 turn late and i can follow up the gatekeeper-tendrils creature hate curve.
here's the match ups
match 1 - Mono Green Aggro
game 1 he won the roll. i played an opening hand of swamp, 3 disfigures, bloodghast, tendrils and nocturnus. yes call me crazy but i played a 1 land hand. he played a first turn llanowar elves then passed. then came my turn and luckily i drew a land. so i played swamp and disfigured the mana dork and passed. he then played a land and another llany then passed. my turn came and i drew a ghast. i played another swamp then killed the llany. from there on i knew it was my game. he played a 5th turn bestial menace and a 7th turn howl of the night pack but he could not deal with my flying army.
i knew windstorm would come my way so i transformed my wincons. i sided out my little army and did a 360 degree change into a semi MBC line up.
game 2 - was the same except he did a turn 3 leatherback baloth which met a deathmark. he then ran out of gas and i drew lands. the next few turns he played a nightpack. i had the infest in hand and played it. next turn he passed. then i drew a duress he revealed his hand which consists of tanglesap and 2 windstorms. i remove the storm and passed. he played a forest then passed. i then drew sorin markov and from there on controlled the game.
game 1 - nothing much. a turn 5 mind sludge killed him.
game 2 - the same as above.
the matchup was certainly a mismatch as vamps love to rape semi control decks.
result - 2-0
match 3 - Jund
i felt really pressured as this was a real nightmare for vamps.
game 1 - he won the roll. played a catacombs then passed. btw i kept an opening hand of 3 swamps bloodghast, vampire hexmage, vampire nighthawk and sign in blood. i played a swamp then passed. he played his second land then passed. i drew a disfigure then played my hexmage. he played another land then passed. i then played a land then attacked with my hexmage. then played a nighthawk. the hawk was bolted. and he played on his turn a bloodbraid elf which cascaded into terminate which leaves my board empty. i disfigured the elf then i drew vampire nocturnus. the next turns i had a board of a ghast and a nocturnus. i revealed the top card which was unfortunately a land. he then played a bituminous blast and got the "perfect cascade" of Blast-BBE-thrinax. i conceded as i did not have a removal, my ghast cant block his beaters and he was ahead of tempo and play.
SB - I made a simple sbing of..
-1 sorin markov
-3 disfigure
+ 4 duress
i sided out disfigures as i knew at some point it will be useless against broodmates. and sorin markov would likely not get there on turn 6.
i sided in duress to disrupt him of removal and other techs.
game 2 - my opening hand was 4 swamp, gatekeeper of malakir, mind sludge and a nighthawk. he played a savage lands then passed. then i drew a land then passed. at that point i knew that if i sludge him, the game would be in my favor.
i then drew a duress and played it. he revealed his hand which consists of..
2 broodmate
1 BBE
1 bit blast
1 lands
i snag the blast then passed. he then played his BBE which cascaded into grim discovery. next turn i played the sludge with 5 swamps on play. from there on i gatekeeper his BBE and i was ahead of the game.
game 3 - its the craziest part of all. i kept a hand of 3 swamp 1 duress 2 gatekeeper 1 nighthawk he mulled into 6. he played a dragonskull summit then passed. i played a turn 1 duress this was his hand..
i snagged blast then passed. next turn he played his land then passed. i drew a bloodwitch then played hexmage. and then came my luckiest part. he missed his 3rd land drop then passed. from there on i out tempo him with gatekeeper and my malakir bloodwitch.
so yeah after the matches i became more confident with this deck. especially after beating jund i realized how the VAMPS VS. jund match up was a real 50/50.
If control becomes anything good we can put Underworld Dreams in the SB, control will never win vs a good vampire player. sure MS gets countered all day long, we have other faster tools and we will use those
So shin, you have to be more carefull with your claims. You think UW control will make vampires die? LOL.
.actually no need for the dreams route.
as you said, a good vamps pilot will always stomp on the UW decl
with all respect to shinjutsei, i dont know why you had a rough time against the UW deck. its super predictable and not to mention post sb, duress back to back with MS and ritualist, the UW deck becomes a big joke.
..i think MANY people are underestimating the mono black deck.
its actually a flexible deck. can go aggro and can go control route depending on certain match ups.
it KILLS control (you can quote me on that) and smashes through their defenses.
i mean seriously, the UW deck is a big joke on the face of vamps especially post SB. duress back to back with mind sludge (and sometimes bloodhusk ritualist can single handedly kill and own the game.
and to people saying DoJ and martial scoop shuts down vamps, good luck on how those spells reach their game.

same with stealing a basilisk collar or even a master of etherium.
now if you look closely at Kalitas' card, he has the flavor of destroying a creature and making it a "vampire".
now lets examine Drana. she's from Kalastria which has the proudest vampire nobles on zendikar society.
me thinks she'll be this..
Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief 3BB
Legendary Creature - Vampire Shaman
When ~ enters the battlefield, destroy target non-vampire creature and put a copy of it into play under your control. treat it as a vampire in addition to its other types.

Vampire Assasin
Intimidate
exile a vampire creature card in your graveyard, destroy target creature.

simple as that.
i agree.. for all we know he might be the first planeswalker with only 2 abilities.. yes two abilities only!
she's in the RB intro...makes me think vamps will splash red post RoE
me thinks...
Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief 1BB
Legendary Creature - Vampire Shaman

Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief 1RB
Whenever a Vampire you control comes into play, you may have ~ deal 2 damage to target player.

i hope she'll help the tribe in a competitive level. as Kalitas was a dissapointment and only fits in EDH decks

precisely, this is M10 and M11 overlap will also be kinda strange on which M10 cards will be reprinted on M11.
