So my thoughts on the Jeskai list for ElectroBalance is still possibly impacted by my bias towards Nahiri. She is such an efficient clock that demands an answer. When she resolves she loots, can protect or in three turns which isn't that many with assistance from a Balance. As well as white is so powerful for sideboard that the splash is worth it. Plus if its just a splash we don't lose much besides a little extra damage. With regards to the play style I have always wanted to play more into the role of being a proactive deck that is helped by balance then just a good Restore Balance Deck. Which I think is the primary strength of the Electro build.

Now with regards to the Beast Within, I really like the card but D-Spheres have felt so good against Dredge and I imagine the Phoenix decks. As well as aligning better with The colors. ( I tend to give green the stick in my builds) I wish I could try to play it more, this leads to my inclusion of Kiora, she is in this to fulfill a similar role as Gideon. They both offer protection in a sense but that's where they have slightly different roles. Gideon becomes a clock but doesn't offer any card advantage, where Kiora can draw cards as well as protecting.

Other considerations for the Sixth walker slot is of course a second Gideon, Dovin, possibly Chandra Torch, Karn with Pants, and possibly Sarkan Unbroken. Now to explain my odd decisions, So lets start with Dovin, He gains us life with the card drawn as well turning off some of the value creatures that may hurt us. With Chandra she has ramp for post Restore Balances, as well as offering card advantage that is a tad risky without As Fortold but is mostly free, as well as offering removal, This does come with a price of the RR in the casting cost, Karn, Scion of Urza, is interesting with some card advantage as well as a clock with the artifact soldiers, with the ability of not worrying about mana cost. Now for the spice of Sarkan Unbroken has the scary mana cost of 2UGR though he offer card advantage with some minor mana, with the clock of a 4/4 a turn. (I dont think hes impressive just sweet.)

Wow thanks for the warm welcome back epoa, I feels really nice to be back. I have spent my last couple days brewing and have come up with a few lists. If you guys would kindly offer your opinions I would be very appreciative. As I explained earlier I am currently on BR ElectroEnd and am hesitant to jump head long into those builds, it does not feel as nice and consistent. Thanks again everyone, plus as a bonus I will be posting my original list from before.

Hello everyone, I used to play Restore Balance religiously. I have came back to realize that after I walked away that I love this deck and really want to play more of it. So that being said I have read the last couple pages, I was wondering is the previous color scheme for the cascade version still no black. I have seen some powerful new spells out of black but still think blue offers more. Secondly it appears that modern has been dropping some of the artifact hate for the grave hate. With that I was looking at my past build that I so relentlessly defended, I am not quite impressed with the old build no matter how sweet I think it was. So I'm looking for some of the new ideas for that list, I used to focus on just UW and play it a prison style deck, but I think having more powerful threats that require less time will not only make it better but lose less games. I have seen a lot of the new deck. Has it been successful with testing or mostly hype. I'm playing Living End Electrodominance right now and I have felt that it it much harder to have two pieces then just cascade past the one. Thanks everyone for the ideas, if feels good to be brewing again.

P.S: Has anyone tried Karn, Scion of Urza? I know he exiles our stuff sometimes but he seems like a really good threat, with card advantage as well as a clock.

Tallionis I agree that he is down on it but I have a couple issues with his list, some of which may have been the cause of his strife. One of those being that he was only running 22 lands while watching the replay he always seemed to be a land short. So possibly up to 23 or 24 would help cast our seven drop in grindy match ups or just curve into our lock pieces better. Second he said in the video that he didn't like the sideboard choices he had an that they hurt against control as well as he didn't like the serum visions addition.Third is that you like this deck there is no defined or conceived archtype for the deck, I'm currently trying to see the viability of Suppression Field vs the stock list and seeing if we swap some of the numbers on the list if it could be improved. As well as there is the some hope at least because recently there was a top 16th (12th to be exact) in a SCG Classic and at least one 5-0 so there may be room to grow. I do also agree that UW seems to be the optimal list but possibly there might be merit gain in others if they keep putting up results.

So Drmarkb, did you not like RW Enduring? I am interested in building into the archtype but am deciding on RW vs UW. As I have seen is actually what you said Blue offers filtering and Red offers blood moon and a hard casted Form. If you had a list you preferred do you mind sharing? My list, which will be below, has been struggling a bit, though this is probably more to my inability to be a good pilot since I took a 8 Month break from magic and have forgotten how to play.

P.S. Was wondering about tech choices like Gideon's Intervention Vs Nevermore? Also is three Unlifes needed with Copy Enchantments? Finally what are thoughts about Paradox Haze? It helps with Search for Azcanta, Suspend on Lotus Bloom, Form of the Dragon, Starfield of Nyx, and of course Enduring Ideal. I was thinking of dropping an Unlife for a Paradox Haze.
P.S.S. Also what are everyone's thoughts on Suppression fields vs having fetch lands.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum but I love this deck. I've been wanting to build it for quite some time now, I have a list that I will link below. Since I have never played before am I missing anything or should I make any other changes? If I should could you explain why it may be better? Thank you!

Hello everyone if anyone is interested Jeff Hoogland played an older list of mine last week and did decently with it if your interested. With that if anyone else is interested a few of us has switched over to a discord. https://discord.gg/X6MuXf Feel free to come on in and talk, as well as I'm currently trying to do a full write up on my list and will be sharing it when it is done. Congrats on everyone doing well with the lists too.

I don't think the one showing of the list means that we're positioned well but I don't mind more midrange running around. With that I think the list is nice, it's not trying to be cute it's just trying to kill people. Which is nice and I will be adjusting mine to help with that. With other thoughts about it I don't know about Fiery Justice but it may replace Ghostly Prison for my way to deal with creatures. One of the the things I've been wanting to test for a while now is Leylines of Sancity in the main, with burn being well positioned against Jace decks I expect a rise in burn which at least for me seems to be he hardest matchup. So with hand hate being as good as always I can't help but think that it's great for us to play Leylines in the main. I will be talking about this after testing but if anyone has tested I would love to hear about it. Finally am I the only person who likes Dismember or should I be playing better cards?

Edit: In addition to above what's people's thoughts on 3 vs 4 Restore Balances?

Thanks for the answer! To tell the truth, I can say I was wondering about Drift of Phantasms for quite some time. Can actually be more easy to have UU rather than search for the UB for Perplex as a tutor. That was the olny thing keeping black for me. Also Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is a tempting idea, but as for now, he's not in my 75.
I see you're using Thassa, God of the Sea in your main! How is it performing? Is on my radar for some time. If you can give me some nice words on her, I might be trying her soon Wink

I will try to cut the black and to adjust my manabase accordingly. For the question of Stony silence, I still use posts as a way to discount Metalwork colossus. What I can do is to have multiple plains to fetch to be sure to be able to cast Wispmare eventually.
I like your list, saw what you did with Gideons and Jace, you evil man Wink

So far so good, thanks for the replies! I will experiment with the imputs. If anybody wants to add something, all feedback is welcome!

So with Drift there have been sometimes that I've struggled a tad with the double blue but so far its been consistent. As with Thassa, I just recently went up to a two of which I've been wanting to do for a while. I love to drop her turn three start accumulating value if I don't need the Restore till turn four. So one of the biggest advantages of her in the deck besides smoothing out draws is the the unblockable to finish games so nicely. For my answers to Stony Silence I always have loved Wear//Tear for instant speed removal of enchantments and artifacts, simply because the fact that I can float mana and not have to worry about being locked.

So @Shanaxe with regards to colors its really hard to have a nice consistent mana base with four or five colors. In my deck for a borderpost ratio to lands I prefer 24-25 total mana sources, I'm currently on 11 borderpost for the amount of Stony around its rough to play more. With that I'm on 14 lands with fetches and shocks in addition to my basics. I love to have basics with the ability to grab a fetch after to fix my double white or blue. Also I attempted to streamlined my deck to be UW with a splash of red and just use green for Violent Outburst. So being concerned about colors are minimal most of the time. Not to be rude but why do you need black? With burying it and As Fortold I think it would make it easier on your mana to cut that and possibly use other options for toolbox like Drift Of Phantasms it's been great since I tried it, as has Monastery Siege as a versatile answer. Also below will be my list if you want some mana ideas, if you have questions feel free to ask.

I want to try to find an alternative option to Ghostly Prison but have yet to have any luck for my main win cons are a 9/7, 5/5, 4/4, and a 15/15 so I can't think of a viable way to use Ensnaring Bridge. This is my current dilemma that and I don't know the viability of Metalwork. I don't have an insane snout of time to test but it's just been ehh so far.

See this is where I'm sad, I'm already on the before mentioned blue build though I am a blue when're primarily. I think Jace is a great addition but I don't currently have funds to see about playing him. Though I do have some news on the BBE Front that being that I did some testing and where some times it's great I would prefer other options like counters for more control or Metalwork as a finisher. Though a point of contention still remains for me, with more walkers how viable is Ghostly Prison as protection or a prison piece?

  • posted a message on [Primer] Restore Balance
On the topic of BBE I was thinking of playing two just as a valuable finisher that can either Restore or progress my board state while being a nice clock. I know its not the best thing we could need but even cascading into a As Fortold or a lock piece seems quite nice. My best case scenario seems to be BBE cascade into a Gideon or Monastery Siege and then beat them to death. Also with Jace being introduced if we increase the amount of walkers are there better options then Ghostly Prison for this doesn't help very much when they are just punching our Wincons to death. My list is below with A testing split of BBE and Jace.

Now I know Jace seems decent but I wasn't expecting him back so I've been toying with paying Bloodbraid Elf as a value finisher. Maybe only as a two or three of but what do you guys think about BBE is it to cute or is viable?

Also what is everyone's thoughts on Realease to the Wind. This is the 2U instant that exiles and none land permanent. It can be recast from exile with out paying its mana cost. Is this too cute or could this be a valuable way to flicker creatures for a Balance or with Ardent Plea to rebalance? Also not to flood the feed but there's been a thought that's been plaguing my brain lately what colors could be viable if we didn't use Violent Outburst. I understand this is one of the best cards in our arsenal but does black offer enough value to cut green,or white. Those are the two I've considered the most are there any other colors that we could cut?
TLDR: I think black has some very good cards to offer but is it worth dropping a color if so what color?
