Dec 21, 2018Simto posted a message on Ravnica Allegiance Mechanics ( Spectacle, Afterlife, Adapt, Riot, Addendum)Hmm, very disappointed with Addendum. It's totally opposite of what a control player wants to do. I'll wait and see the full set before getting too sad about it, but man.... pretty lame mechanic.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

The pro tour was won by creature decks, BG is (if you believe MTGGoldfish) 26% of the meta.
Creatures are more than fine and idiotic 'protection' like hexproof doesnt improve the game.
I swear they don't want control to exist at all...Midrange and Aggro only under MARO & FRIENDS. No Control and No Combo Allowed.
Maro even said yeah we are going to make sure not to print cards that make Teferi better in Azorious...I am sorry why does this apply to Teferi. I don't remember Chandra being pushed to all hell and MARO coming out and saying we plan to make sure Red gets nothing good in Amonkhet or Ixalan or Dominaria. Of course, not Red got good after good card and spent months on top of the meta. But the Control Walker is good so we need make sure he doesn't get better. SMFH. And not only will we make sure Control gets nothing or as little good as possible, will print a card that rekts the best board wipe in standard cause I guess there is just not enough creature decks in standard.
And yeah according to mtggoldfish apparently 14% of the meta is too much dominance for control meanwhile aggro and midrange have the other 85% what is good amount of control apparently 0% according to MARO.
Man, this makes me worried. Esper Control was my favourite deck pre rotation and I was hoping when this set came out it would give it the tools to be awesome again, but I'm worried about this statement.
I love playing control, I even think control vs control is really fun, but hearing people whine every time you play a counterspell gets tiresome. People need to hate less on control and just play.

Hadana's Climb here I come!!!
Dec 20, 2018Adapt seems pretty weak. Pretty sad about that. Was hoping to finally have a sick Hadana's Climb deck hehe. I'll keep my hopes up until the full set is revelaed though. I love that card and +1/+1 counter synergiesPosted in: The Rumor Mill
Really hoping for some sick Azorious cards. I really want to play Esper Control too in standard and not go down the jeskai route.
Dec 19, 2018Haha thanks. I think I'll have to win 10 FNM's to have enough store Credit for one or two more Teferi hehe. FNM's here in Denmark are pretty small.Posted in: Established (Standard)
Yeah, the Mortify reprint is pretty sick. I still like cast down for the lower cost, but Mortify will be sick.
Dec 18, 2018Congrats on the great result! Awesome to see you running Unmoored Ego. Love that card.Posted in: Established (Standard)
I don't get why so many pick Golden Demise over Ritual of Soot. Ritual is insane.
I love Esper Control. Going to run a bad variation of it at my next FNM, but I'll have fun doing it hehe. I run more white to have access to Lyra and Settle. I only have two Teferi though...
How did you like having so many moment of cravings? Last time I ran esper I had 2 or 3 main and the rest in the sideboard, but every single time I drev one I wish it had been a Cast Down which I only had two of. My current build has no moment of craving and four cast down main deck (pseudo Fatal Push...) so I will most definiteley be up against decks with lots of Adanto Vanguards hehe.
Dec 14, 2018Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Chalsis »Rakdos... have really gone to seed. In the original Ravnica, they were thrill-killers, assassins, slavers, and miners, doers of unsavory tasks and truly felt like a murderous cult of psychopaths. Their carnival aspect was second-fiddle to all that, but now that side has been flanderized to the point where it's their main shtick, they're "Ravnica's entertainment" and essentially just a mad circus, and "Spectacle" is their keyword.
Here's what I want to know - how does a murderous demon cult make it as "Ravnica's entertainment"? How is that mainstream? They're vermin who are only allowed to exist because the Guildpact needs 10 guilds, and no amount of clown makeup is ever going to cover that.
Not really digging the all in on the whole circus thing myself. The set isn't out yet, so I don't know the final product, but if the little concept art they've shown is any indication then I think the circus and clown part is a bit too much. But I guess we'll see once the set is out. I like it when it's just part of the guild, like it's just the small minion types who get used for shows like that, not almost every member being a circus freak hehe.
That being said, no matter if they go full mad house circus freaks, I'm sure the art will look great if Guilds of Ravnica's art is any indication of what this set will look like too.
Dec 3, 2018Simto posted a message on [RNA] - Domri Rade and some Simic elf figure artworkCool Simic artwork. I like that art style. I'm hoping for some crazy +1/+1 counter action with Hadana's ClimbPosted in: The Rumor Mill
Nov 29, 2018Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from purklefluff »Full art snow lands would be pretty cool.
What's more, if we're being analytical of 'snow permanent' as a mechanic: it wasn't used particularly effectively compared to how embedded into the flavour and set a mechanic tends to be in contemporary sets.
So, if we were to see a return of 'snow' as a mechanic, it would seem an easy prediction to suggest that they'd do an awful lot more with that blank canvas this time round and really make it reflect the flavour.
In terms of impact, that's going to have much wider reach than reprinting some basic lands you can already get (albeit in a prettier way)
They could do it like the Amonkhet block lands where they're just basic lands, but the artwork is in the set's style. So make all the lands snowy but just basic lands.
Amonkhet had the desert sub theme in the land base. Some of them were pretty good. Could maybe do it like that again, by having some uncommon utility lands that had the "snow" theme going, but then keeping the basics basic but with snowy artwork.
Just thinking out loud. I just think full art snow lands would be cool as ****!

Yeah, but it looks cool It's already been discussed a lot in this thread, but I don't mind at all if reality gets a little bent to keep the horns in a fantasy game with giant beasts and ***** like that hehe.
Also, as a Dane, I'd only be mad if they didn't make the vikings look cool hehe.
On a different note, how awesome would full art snow lands be?? Damn I hope that happens!
Nov 26, 2018Simto posted a message on Is Standard Really This Diverse Right Now (Nov 2018)?I'm having a lot of fun playing Golgari Midrange and experiment with splashing blue for different sideboard options because I love blue hehe.Posted in: Standard (Type 2)
I kinda wish Mono Green Stompy was better because it's a fun deck.
Having a lot of fun at my local FNM and it's legit got the most amount of people participating since the last year or so. People are bringing lots of different decks, so it usually feels fresh almost no matter who you're playing against.
Waiting for the next set to get back into my Esper control deck because it's really fun. I know people will hate me for saying this, but I miss Kaladesh cards (Especially Fatal Push) and I miss having that one Scarab God in my Esper deck.
