first, i want to say that you are probably right : ) as i said i'm not very good with deckbuilding.

but why "can't" i play discard and cards like arclight phoenix? is it because the nature of discard is grindy and slow and arclight is fast and explosive? discard is a sorcery and helps ressurect arclight, and i can see arclight aiding in a grindy deck as it's recursive but it also adds some explosiveness that people always have complained about in mardu. to show what i mean i have a decklist down below:

    and usual 20 lands

in my head this should work as i go down on some slow removal like dreadbore/terminate and one kolaghans, bloodmoons, no 1 ofs. adding manamorphose should synergize extremely well with all our 12 creatures.

would just like to hear thoughts on why/why not this would work!

maybe this deck needs to be changed a little for the meta right now. feel it's way to slow, either it can't keep up with the fast decks or either it get's outgrinded by uw control.

what do you guys think about adding some arclight phoenixes along with manamorphoses? i know this thought isn't new, but it could maybe replace the slower removal spells like dreadbore/terminate and the likes. it should speed up the deck and make it able to race much better, one of it's weak points have always been the slow clock. and manamorphose synergizes very well with the other creatures - bedlam and young pyro.

i just don't know then if thoughtseize and inquisition have a place in a deck like this? i'm not that good with deckbuilding : p and i don't know if the discard outlets for arclight is really there with usually 4 faithless looting and around 2 brutality. maybe one should add more? and then, why not run e.g. bloodghast. and then maybe it's just a worse version of hollow one...

    i dunno, thoughts?

Maybe im just bad, but how do you win against UW control? My LGS is full of them. Normally UW control has always been a good matchup but nowadays they have sooo many card advantage engines that just outdraws you so they always have an answer. Im really at a loss here, maybe Im doing something wrong? You cant get an early tron either and just steamroll them as they have quite a bit of land disrution too and late in the game I also have a hard time in having a mana advantage because of that. I play a fairly normal stock list.

I just dont see the point of the deck if UW control beats you as they are much better against creature decks, and if we cant go over the top against other Control decks... then whats U trons purpose? Except its fun to play :p Maybe were slightly better against combo...

There's a lot of control and grindy midrange matchups in my meta. Do anyone have suggestion on good sideboard cards in these matchups? More grindy-ish cards or should I just go faster? Maybe it's just futile to grind against UW control.

that's some really good points, thanks. i have the feeling people think mindslaver is one of the best cards against control. is it though? if we remove our maps, get screwed on our mana through seas and ruins and stony silence for activation. will we really be able to cast it and slaver? maybe slaver but it's a long way to a full lock at least. good point about dismembers also! would instantly board them out otherwise.

that's a really good point with tolaria and map. i'm gonna try a one of of the talisman and see how it feels : )

tried the deck again yesterday without my new improvements (will have them next week!) and it went soso. did a lot of misplays as i was not used to the deck (have been playing mardu pyro for awhile now). really feels i have game against most decks though if i just don't do any stupid misplays like yesterday : p

how should the matchup generally go against mill? i lost yesterday but felt pretty close some games. against control (this time grixis), do you sideboard out ugin? i see him mostly as an 8 mana bolt and its quite easy for them to just bounce with cryptic. would you keep him against uw control though? his minus should be good against their spreading seas and detention spheres.

edit: also, same question about oblivion stone. feels soso in the matchups but maybe it's okay?

Sounds like fun to try a one of at least of little karn. One of the things i love with u tron is you can have so many pet cards. i'm a little sceptical at putting in a tons of mana rocks though just because you play 1 little karn? what else are they good for? i mean of course they ramp but mostly you don't want to tap out for that and would you really play them if you didn't play karn? if you gonna commit to mana rocks with 3 of them, feels way to little to only play 1 karn?

another random question. What have peoples experience been with tolaria west? I really don't want to play tap lands. maybe change a trinket mage for tolaria and play 25 lands though?

so... what is the verdict on new karn? thinking of getting him, is he a must in your opinion? looks like he's played in most lists. is the strategy to just have more mana rocks to pump out stronger tokens and get him out earlier?

What do you guys think of the 5c elf build? Havn't seen it discussed here but may have missed it. Have anyone tried it?

    https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/943752#paper

Not my list, but it should look something like this.

I got wrecked at a local FNM when I played against it and have been interested in building it since then.

Opinions of this version? Feels pretty grindy imo, and can get through clogged-up board states better with throne of the god pharaoh, and coiling oracle is slightly stronger than visionary. Not as good with finding the elf you need at the right moment though with the lack of coco and chord. Don't know if you can cram in some of those in the list.

Would be interesting in hearing some opinions if you tried something similar.

    Just a random thought...

Cryptic command is one hell of a card, super flexible that can handle almost every situation and especially creatures, big or small that u tron usually have problem with. Problem is of course the triple blue mana cost.

What do you think of trying to run the deck with more mana rocks or more spheres/stars like regular tron to fix the mana? Is it worth the payoff?

As i said... just a random though. Anyone tried something like this out? Would it be 3-4 auto include if it was only 1-2 blue and rest colorless? Just feels a little bad to skip one, if not the, of the most powerful cards in blue.

anyone want to critique my (soon to be purchased) deck? i really like the playstyle with the different "flicker-tricks" you can do with the deck and also locking the opponent out. that's what i want to focus on in my deck which looks as follows:

i don't want it to be an eldrazi deck. maybe its a little bit because of budget and if temple ever get banned, but i also like the focus on more land destruction and maybe a little bit more focused mana-base. gonti is maybe a weird choice, but i saw a guy use him in a variant of the deck and i just love the card :p also have flicker synergy and card draw (sort of) which is pretty scarce in this deck. dark confidant would probably be the most obvious upgrade but i want to keep it a little budget-friendly, maybe in the future. until then the card draw package of 2x thraben and 2x copters have to suffice.

but anyway, would love to hear any suggestions or opinions on the decklist before i order the rest of the cards that i need. be it the deck itself, sideboard or if i seriously should consider another version of the deck.
