Lavinia actually does(at least some of the time) stop Hollow One. The second clause counters it being cast for free.

Anyone play a singleton Crucible mainboard? If I expect Tron, Valakut and Amulet Titan it seems like it could do a lot of work. It will also generate massive card advantage in a long game against BGx or similar midrange.

So this is slightly off topic, being BWR tokens instead of BW but I still felt like sharing something that I brewed recently. It's a Mardu Mentors deck built around Monastery Mentor and to a lesser extent, Mentor of the Meek. I know that playing creatures "turns on" opposing removal, but that's what the Dawn portion of Dusk//Dawn is for. Including them also offers a very fast clock and a very easy way to rebuild a board presence after a board wipe. I'm not interested in suggestions to "cut the creatures"(although tweaking their numbers might be a fine suggestion) because then I'm playing a different deck and I want to play a Monastery Mentor deck. I would love feedback about the surrounding shell though.

Do you sideboard Scavenging Ooze out in control match ups?

Agree with Delver on that point. Spending 2 mana per clue adds up fast. Not to mention you ideally want to play tracker and then immediately follow up with a land drop so he's way way slower than Dark Confidant.

Anything in particular about Mardu that you think gives them the edge? Being able to main-deck blood moons maybe?

That's just patently not true. The deck would be hurt much more by removing Liliana of the Veil than Scavenging Ooze from the modern card pool. Assuming you agree, Scavenging Ooze is weaker than LotV. We might not be able to determine this relationship between all pairs of cards in the deck but that doesn't mean they don't exist. All it means is that we don't know them. If the rules of the format were changed and the deck size limit set to 59 cards the one you'd cut would be your best guess at the weakest card. Personally I'd cut Abrupt Decay. But that's not the point really.
You answered my question and I tend to agree with your answer: we need deck manipulation. My first thought is "what would make Grim Flayer actually viable?" Something to help reliably trigger delirium while still being a good card in its own right obviously. What would such a card look like though? Maybe something like on-color Cast Out, an enchantment that cycles while being solid removal mid-game seems ok.

What is our weakest card currently? Alternatively, what kind of card would we most like to see printed in a new set?
So my question is kind of double sided and came about while I was wondering what it'd take for a new card to make it into Jund and what cards it might possibly displace. For example, I have a hard time imagining Tarmogoyf or Liliana of the Veil ever being displaced but printing a modal spell that could act as incidental graveyard hate while being main-deckable because of its other applications might be enough to replace Scavenging Ooze with something like Grim Flayer. All of the Jund cards are already so efficient though so I'm having trouble finding answers to how some of them might be displaced.

    Thoughts?

No harder than it is to remember 10 shards/wedges...

So I think we go down(or stay at depending on your build) to 4 fastlands(a playset of Cliffs, dropping any Blooming Marshes we might have been playing) and play a full 9 fetches. Possibly 10 and going down to 2 Ravines for a better chance to have access to 4 mana on turn 4. We also include the full set of bolts BUT and I think this is where some people might disagree with me; Inquisition will be a 1-of and so will Fatal Push. We start maindecking 2x Collective Brutality because it's an excellent cascade target as well as extra main deck lifegain to offset the higher curve BBE calls for. Sideboard also changes a bit but the particular one I'm going with is for my local meta that's very low on GY decks.

Two Shadow Decks and at least one Affinity and one big mana deck in the top 8. There also won't be a surprise breakout deck that ends up warping the format.

I've only played the mirror match like 3 times so far so I can't really comment on the exact mirror. I love playing midrange mirrors though, be they against Abzan, Shadow variants or Jeskai Tempo. Only midrange match up I haven't liked was Bant Eldrazi.

I think David sounds pretty whiny in that article. I also think his entire dataset is faulty and his control list wasn't close to optimal. Bloodbraid Elf is good, but it's not *that* good. I also question his assumptions about homogeneity resulting from a BBE unban. Shadow decks would still be just as good and Abzan would still have lingering souls and other sideboard options to offer.

I've tried it. Both with having 1 main 1 side and having 2 main. Prefer 1 main, mostly because drawing multiples of Hazoret is awkward but also because I like to have diverse 4-drop threats.
