As soon as I read the question, Mairsail was the answer that jumped to mind. Lim-Dul ends up as little more than Mairsail's puppet, and Mairsail was a professed practitioner of all five colors, limited by his host in the case of Lim-Dul.
The odds of a ring or other artifact being in the possession of a family with wealth like Liliana's just makes me think all the more that Mairsail simply used the same trick he used the first time to avoid death.
