  • posted a message on Slowing down Standard
Usually in a new standard format, the fast aggressive decks take over the metagame in the initial month then the slower decks start to take over. It was the complete opposite for the M12-Mirrodin-Inn new standard. Decks like Solar Flare and Wolf Run Ramp took ever before any Delver decks became known.

@Mandlebot: You listed the absolute nuts draw for each of those decks. We have no idea what cards will be printed. They could keep the current standard format at the same fast pace or they could print new cards that can slow down the game.

Zealous Conscripts isn't really a bomb. Batterskull is a good bomb.

    EDIT: Red has Thundermaw Hellkite

Ebay favors the buyers so if all you have to do is report the seller that they sold you an item not described in the description then they will give a refund.

    Quote from magickware99
The entirety of the LoTR trilogy was shot in one "sitting." They did this to cut down on production cost because the studio feared that the film would bomb. So they tried everything to cut down on cost.

Then the first one did phenomenally and they did reshoots and extended things a bit.

So Jackson doing the same thing isn't anything special.

Yes, I know that. I am glad he is doing that because when movies in a series are made one at a time, they tend to be worse than the ones before it.

We have no idea what is in RtR, so you cannot make that assumption.

I'm actually fine with Jackson doing 3 films. Unlike other movies, Jackson is filming the entirety of The Hobbit in one "sitting". Unlike other trilogies, where each film is filmed one at a time and a sequel is dependent on the success of the original. Jackson's LOTR was one of those few cases where the sequels were actually just as good or better than the film before it!

If Jackson, needs more film time to fully tell The Hobbit's story, I'm all for it. I'd rather see three films at about 2.5 hours each, rather than two movies at 3+ hours each.

  • posted a message on price of Shock Lands
I don't think any of the shocks will go above $20. In the beginning, the more in demand ones will fetch $25, but as more packs are opened over time, they will settle between the $8-15 range.

Similar to the Zendikar Fetchlands, except they were not reprints but entirely a new cylce of fetches. Started at $20-25 and settled down to $10-15.

@jole: Agree. Bit anticlimactic. But you should probably spoiler tag that up. Smile

Sorry, didn't really bother since I noticed that everyone's seen it by now, haha.

  • posted a message on Your first draft.
My first draft was Lorwyn-Lorwyn-Lorwyn. Heard it was a pretty bad draft format but I was new so I couldn't compare it.

I drafted a WGR changeling deck. I had the creature tutors so I could search up my changeling creatures. I remember having the champion changelings, the green 7/7 one, the white lifelink, and the red haste one. It was fun because I would tutor up the champion and put it over my tutor. Then if it died, the tutor would come back and I could look for another champion lol.

I remember opening P1P1 Cryptic Command. I remember it being in the $15-20 range so I auto picked it. P2P1 I opened Primal Command and I gladly played in my deck.

In the end, I think I went 1-2 because I didn't pick up enough removal. But hey, it was my first draft!

I now have 2 people who don't understand my point.

It ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN AT UNCOMMON OR TIMESHIFTED.

Is that clear enough? Maybe you shouldn't comment if you don't understand the context of a post.

Telling me to shut up isn't the way to have a conversation.

And to get down to brass tacks, yes, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. Learn from science. Anything CAN happen, some things are just more likely to happen. Of course FoW COULD be printed as a common. All of us know it's not going to be, but it COULD.

My point all along is they will not be printed at timeshifted. Just as they won't be printed at uncommon or common or in the land slot.

I think he was trying to say that posting scenarios that may happen, probably will definitely not is just pointless. If it's not going to happen in the first place, why even bring up the idea in the first place? It's like WOTC releasing the statement, "we could reprint Jace TMS, but it's not going to happen". You can see how pointless that statement is.

I don't want to get into a silly argument, so I'll stop posting about the "could happen" argument.

Shards of Alara had a lot of mana fixing in the common (borderposts) and uncommon slots (tri lands) and limited felt pretty awesome where going 3 colors is the norm.

I'm certain there will be similar mana fixing in RtR, whether it be something like signets or bouncelands. But yes, there's no way for the shocklands to be rare. Would hurt the sell-ability of the set.

  • posted a message on The Dark Knight Rises
So far, the discussion on this thread has been about things some posters find bothersome that completely detract from the movie and have little to no significance.

Sorry for changing topics, but how did you guys feel about the deaths of the antagonists? The final fight with Bane was pretty good but his ultimate death was just anti-climatic. He just gets shot by the gun on the bike and that's it? Talia's death wasn't as good as I thought it could have been. Being the main schemer behind the plot, I would think her death would be more memorable.

    What do you guys think?

  • posted a message on Scars Dual Lands
Are there any other formats that would play these lands? Some cubes might have them and they are not the greatest in EDH.

I'm not too familiar with legacy or modern. Any decks in those formats use scars duals?

So you say you know that there is no chance that they will be printed at uncommon, yet you still state that they "could" be printed at uncommon.

I'm alluding to the fact that RtR will be one of the most in demand sets and heavily open set. And having Shocklands as chase rare is extra value for both players and Wizards.

Yes, I did. And it was quite pointless.
