    well this seems massive

    honestly WotC should be talking about this stuff already, explain the rules change, the errata choices a week or so before spoilers start instead of having to explain this during spoiler season itself

    this isn't like the recent PW/Legendary change which effected game play very minimally, depending on how they change things cards could change a lot

    We will learn the real answer in about 6 months, if Jace proves fine in the format or if Wizards have to go through the humiliation of rebanning him

    And if Jace does get rebanned within the next year they will never live down the fact that they messed up Modern just to try a push a few more packs of Masters 25

    I feel like the next New Phyrexia set is more likely to be the 2nd Phyrexian Invasion, whether its Dominaria again or somewhere else I think its more likely that the Phyrexians will be taking it to someone else rather than PWs returning to New Phyrexia to try again after Koth, Venser, and Elspeth failed to save the plane last time. Honestly at this point who would they even be saving I swear everyone other than Koth has to be dead or corrupted by now even with Urabrask being intentionally lazy about wiping the last of the Mirrans out.

    I certainly hope that Wizards goes back to the New Phyrexia storyline before we get to the Invasion of Ravnica. MaRo has mentioned that they think it was a mistake story wise to do Shadows over Innistrad right after Battle for Zendikar, basically resolving Emrakul's loose end rather than giving some time for more anticipation to build

    I mean they seed some synergy for future mechanics into earlier sets

    Since Ixalan was a Tribal set that meant seeding things like Vampires and Pirates in

    However that doesn't mean that Ixalan creature types have any predictive power since the sets it is seeding for, Dominaria, M25, and whatever comes after that are likely not gonna Tribal sets considering we just did one

    Saprolings being important seems like a reasonable read to me though, two cards that generate them in RIX seemed a bit out of place and specifically choosing saproling when I feel they have been more inclined to using Plant token in recent history sticks out.

    So it has to be a new frame for Legendary creatures, right? Dominaria is gonna be a Legendary set at least to some degree so they invented a cool new frame so its more obvious which creatures are Legendary without having to read them

    While a more extreme change in the functionality of Legends is possible, the legend symbol and the unique mechanic, I doubt it, for one I don't think MaRo just published their secret well guarded plans for future mechanics in an article about the Great Designer Search, for two it sounds much more complicated than the current legend rule. There maybe changes, again, but I kinda doubt they are gonna be so extreme as to cause functionality changes. Personally I liked the old Time Paradox rules instead of the current Everyone Gets One rules anyway so whatever.

    The change to Regenerate is also possible but I highly doubt this as well, for one regenerate was taken out of the game about 2 years ago now, why go back and try to fix something that very few players ever see, especially when it isn't actually broken just more confusing than would be preferred, for two some of the ideas about the fix like changing it to grant indestructible just seems way too radical, this would be a massive functionality change to a massive number of cards

    They already changed the way PWs function in a pretty big way at the end of last year, and we pretty much know they are planning a massive change to direct damage spells since they wanna scrap the PW redirect rules for simplicity, just how many massive rules changes, massive erratas and massive functionality changes do you people expect there to be in a one year period?

    Also Wizards if your reading, I know its too late to ask but whatever this is please don't make it something stupid. I don't wanna look at new Legendary or Regenerate cards with the same disdain I use when I look at my Thran Dynamo that has C C C instead of just 3

    I mean these bannings are correct but Wizards really needs to fix whatever is going wrong behind the curtens, standard bannings used to happen maybe every 5 years, now they seem to be happening every 6 months

    For one I don't think Wizards thinks that way, they don't print a new "fixed" card so that they can ban another version. This was printed because it was something Standard wanted, a decent hoser to hit Deserts and some Fliplands.

    For two this really doesn't work to replace Blood Moon in Modern at all, it basically does nothing in that format unless your planning to use it to unlock your own lands.

    I mean you would obviously flash this in response to an activation, you respond to Kiki-jiki tapping by playing this, you don't just randomly flash it in when your opponent isn't doing anything, just like you don't cast removal on Kiki-jiki asap either, you wait for him to activate. Have you literally never played against a twin combo?

    Something interesting to note is that Dire Fleet Neckbreaker doesn't say Other attacking Pirates, unlike most lords it does buff itself, so that thing attacks as a 5/2 which quite a punch

    "Easy" is pretty relative. I mean, this creature costs *8 mana*. There exist 2-card infinite-creature combos that cost far less that should, theoretically, be easier.

    I mean sure this is probably worse than any Kiki-Jiki combo but Kiki-Jiki is a completely busted card, If Wizards is actually doing their job right we will likely never see a card that stupid ever again

    Then all you need is one of these to not cause a draw


    Goblin Bombardment also works, literally any sac outlet or non-damage removal spell and haste. Its really not hard to turn infinite creatures into an instant win and this seems like a pretty easy way to get infinite creatures

    Yup. I was just thinking about that after mentioning Aether Flash earlier in this thread. There's no decisionmaking, no stopping mechanism. If this guy lands on a battlefield that has an Aether Flash, the game will end in a draw.
    yes, if you dont have a way to prevent the damage, counter some ability, get rid of a copy of the dinossaur or the enchantment itself, then yes, the game ends in a draw.

    if you can do anything like that, you end up with an arbitrary large number of dinosaurs.


    Good thing there are plenty of Impact Tremors, Purphoros, God of the Forge, Pandemonioum like effects. Pretty cool.
    sure, lol, you can just add something else to the combo so you win on the spot instead of keeping 2 billion dinosaurs.


    I mean literally all it takes to stop the infinite triggers drawing the game is High Market or another simple sac outlet, the point is while the combo technically draws the game its so easy to turn into a win or at least turn into infinite creatures it could very easily be useful

    This is interesting because now I'm wonder just how many Flip Lands we are getting and on what theme

    At first I was thinking it was 10 two color flip lands but based on what we have seen so far maybe its 5 enemy color flip lands and 5 random ones.

    As for this card itself while the land is pretty good the hoops seem just a little too awkward to jump through, a bomb in limited and likely useful in some specific EDH decks although not a card you can afford to just throw around in any deck, Yasova Dragonclaw Prossh, Skyraider of Kher Breya, Etherium Shaper are three who come to mind that easily make decent use of this card
