Apr 23, 2010RaikouRider posted a message on DECK - Runeflare Trap ComboI used to play this deck...it's a lot of fun, but has issues with Maelstrom Pulse and Duress. Thought about Spell Pierce? It counters them both when they're relevant.Posted in: darkspellcards Blog

Aug 8, 2009RaikouRider posted a message on FNM Report 8-7-09You're welcome for the Leeches...I'm glad they could be really helpful. Oh yeah, I took Behemoth Sledge out of Mayael because I'm taking the cube apart. Now I have Jitte. And Eternal Witness.Posted in: Charm_Master3125 Blog
Any idea of what his 5cc build was? Anything unusual about it like mine (such as the maindeck Halos?) -
Apr 4, 2009RaikouRider posted a message on FNM Report 4-3-09Wow, nice pulls. I pulled a Gabe myself tonight, topdecking Wraths and Cruel Ultimatums in a lot of matches. Sadly being lucky wasn't good enough to win.Posted in: Charm_Master3125 Blog
Hopefully we'll get our trade worked out soon so you can finish your set of Paths. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Creature - Giant {M}
Menace
Whenever End-Raze Titan enters the battlefield or attacks, destroy target noncreature, nonland permanent an opponent controls.
"Every available man" may not be enough to stop it.
6/6
mirrodin71: Reminds me of Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant but only for one land. I don't know if the base cost for this needs to be 6 - I couldn't see myself wanting to play this for that much mana, ever.
Flatline: This is a very elegant solution to the challenge. It's a safe design, yes, but I have to give you elegance points. The only other thing I have to dock you for is there is ample room for flavor text and none has been supplied.
Hemlock: This should probably be base 1/1 or 0/1 - it's a creative idea and has great synergy with the challenge. Just needs a bit more development.
Cardz5000: This is a great puzzle for Johnny to solve, but without some kind of protection seems a bit difficult to pull off. Also why only sorcery cards? Are instant cards excluded for a reason?
Legend: I get the feeling this would end up being problematic for big formats. I like the synergy between Urban Evolution and this, but I feel this would wind up being banned/restricted in at least one format.

2) Cardz5000
3) Flatline
BrainPo: Props for pushing boundaries with this one. I don't think this breaks anything, but I have a suspicion this is undercosted by half a mana (cf. Guttersnipe).
Subject16: This does not meet the challenge.
TheDrB: This actually doesn't work within the rules as they currently are, but there could easily be a new rule to handle this sort of interaction. The way it's worded, the ability would only trigger once, ever, plus memory issues (the granting of indestructible is indefinite.)
willows: I don't think it's necessary for this to enter the battlefield tapped. This also feels like it should be an uncommon (for Limited balance as well as complexity reasons - indestructible should be used sparingly at common.)
Jimmy Groove: My favorite submission out of the bunch by far. I do need to dock you for spelling and grammar in a couple spots, but the solid design more than makes up for it. The restrictive mana cost is needed for this to be balanced.

Sorcery {M}
Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that card onto the battlefield, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. That creature gains vigilance and haste until end of turn.
Epic (For the rest of the game, you can’t cast spells. At the beginning of each of your upkeeps, copy this spell except for its epic ability.)
Creature - Leviathan {R}
Flying, trample
District Swallower's base power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control.
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you may draw a card.
Sacrifice three lands: District Swallower gains hexproof until end of turn.

February will be Return month! Planar revisits have been some of Wizards' most popular sets in recent years. This month, you will be designing cards for a return to a plane that has yet to be revisited in a Magic set. Be wary of the design choices you make; the cards you design will influence your design limitations for future rounds this month.
Final Challenge:
PLEASE NOTE: This month will NO LONGER use the "mandatory top 3" rule. Critiques and top 3s will each be worth one bonus point per round but it will be possible to score points and advance even without submitting a top 3. This will also be done on a trial basis; future months may once again require top 3s from contestants.
Round 1 — Open to Everyone (Feb 1th-6th)
Round 2 — Open to Everyone (Feb 7th–12th)
Rounds 1 and 2 Critiques (Due Feb 15th)
Top 8 — Open to top 8 finishers (Feb 16th–19th)
Top 8 Critiques (Due Feb 23rd)]
Top 4 — Open to top 4 finishers from last round (Feb 24th–26th)
Top 4 Critiques (Due Mar 2)

And that's a wrap. I'll tabulate the scores and post the finalists later tonight. It might be a bit, though, because I have a lot going on this week.
