I used to play it and it was quite good at pressuring opponent but you need to pair it with Blood Moon. Blood Moon slows them just enough that Rabblemaster can do its job, without BM it's still too slow. Young Pyromancer is slower, Hazoret is an option too but I prefer Rabblemaster against these decks because it's faster.
You can also play both when playing against these decks which is what I would do given the fact that you probably have enough cards to board out to make place for both of them.
Generally speaking I was quite happy with him but as I said it will still need a help in order to beat big mana decks.
Awesome, thanks for the insight. I'm still fairly new to the deck, so I am just trying to get a few tips on the sideboard. I used to play Jund, but I've been liking Pyromancer a lot more.
What do you think about Goblin Rabblemaster in the side? I've played with it a few times, and I can't make up my mind. The matchups I am bringing it in (clock for combo decks and Tron), I feel like Young Pyromancer can do a similar job, or Hazoret could be better.
Has anyone else had experience playing with Rabblemaster?
Yeah would go down a fatal push, I currently only run 4 wrath effects mainboard and i think that the 4 are needed
Ok cool. I am trying out the deck at my LGS events...just trying to get a feel for why certain cards/numbers are they way they are. Thanks for the input!
I've seen some decks playing Night's Whisper as well, but I think I like Arguel's Blood Fast better on paper because it is persistent card draw that we can activate any time. Seems worse against Burn, but I guess you could run into a spot where if they are not careful, they could flip it and then you could sac some tokens or a Gideon (if you had extras) to gain some life back.
over the past two FNM went 6-1-1 (3-0-1 and 3-1-0). My thoughts on the matchups which were mostly (Jund, Mardu pyro, and other control based decks aside from 1 humans and 1 affinity matchup)is that Sorin, Lord of Innistrad has been a powerhouse especially in grindy postboard matchups with Arguel's Blood Fast The ability to gain alot of life and stabilize from vampires, vents, and vault of archangel procs and then just draw a bunch of cards off of bloodfast really closed out my grindy or control matchups. I'm thinking of going up to two in the sideboard and even trying one mainboard. I am also going to be testing phyrexian arena in upcoming FNM matches.
Also is anyone still running ob nixilis reignited in their decks? I'm currently still on a 1 of in the deck and it was a powerhouse against my humans match up tonight with it hitting the board and killing a mantis rider and then drawing me into finishers.
If you were going to play an Arguel's in the main, what would you take out? A Fatal Push or Damnation?
Have you guys played with Elspeth, Knight-Errant much? I've been liking it over Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. Her first ability makes tokens just like Sorin, but her ability to buff a Gideon or a spirit token has been more impactful to me than the anthem.
Sorin, Solemn Visitor has been a boss for me...his ultimate has got me out of a few ugly predicaments.
Do you guys ever have problems with card advantage? These lists don't really have a way main board (minus Ob-Nixilis) to gain card advantage or dig through the deck.
I wonder what the thought was for including Bontu's Last Reckoning over another Damnation or Wrath of God. Not being able to untap for an extra turn seems rough...
Or Day of Judgement...playing around Meddling Mage naming one of the other two or something?
Do you think we can get by without having a Spellbomb in the main? My meta has a lot of Lantern / Bogles, so I was considering running 2 Pulses in the main, and that seems to be the most obvious cut for me, but I don't know if that weakens the consistency of Grim Flayer to be worth it. Any ideas?
So how does the BR version beat Bogles? I get Engineered Explosives, but everything else seems pretty bad. LotV only gets to tick up when they have Leyline (and probably dies the next turn). Are we at the point where it should be splashing other green sideboard cards other than Ancient Grudge, or should it just hope to avoid the matchup?
Why did you decide to go with 2 Forests as opposed to 1 Forest and something else (another fetch perhaps)? I understand the two swamps (double black Lili), but I wasn't sure about the two forests. Thanks!

I played against a UW Gideon Control deck last night at FNM...6 Gideons on the field at once! We drew LOL.
