Round 1 vs. UR Prowess
A new player that used to play commander. He started with Delver wich flipped turn 3. I had enough big dudes and dudettes with paths as my back up for a Kiln Fiend. 2-0
Round 2 vs. Bogles
My opponent won the dieroll and he was faster than me. Here I wish I had the Blessed Alliance in my sideboard.
-4 Reflecotr Mage, -3 Path // +Thalia, +2 Ethersworn, +2 Staticaster, +2 Unified Will
Game two was a race again and I was faster with multiple Lieutenants. Game three he was faster and get in with a 7 power Bogle with lifelink and get back 20 life. A Thalia's Lieutenant would be exactly 20 dmg to win the game... but I drew a land! 1-2
Round 3 vs. Elves
I saw him in the first round playing against a friend of mine so i knew he was playing BG Elves. I don't like the matchup.
Game one he took mulligans until he kept a hand with 5 cards. I won the dieroll and started with fetch-shock. Opponent? Scoops! Ok?!?! He told me he had no good cards in his hand and he didn't want me to know what he was on.
-Thalia, -2 Mayor, -2Tracker // +2 Staticaster, +2 Ethersworn, +Eldritch Evolution
Game two my opponent starts with land into manaelf. I start with land into champion. Turn two he plays two heritage druids and a lord wich I pathed end of turn. I play another Champion and a Pilgrim and started to beat down. After that turn my opponent just had lands and scooped after my company. 2-0
Round 4 vs. Grixis Shadow
This guy beat me last week so I wanted my revenge
Game one was a bit grindy but lil Thalia and some well timed path/reflector won me the game.
-2 Retreat, -Plains // +Thalia, +Bojuka Bog, +Shapers Sanctuary
Game two was a grindy one. Again lil Thalia was the best card! My opponent stuck on three lands and could kill me but Thalia shut his Snapcaster into push and KCommand down. 2-0
Round 5 vs. BR Hollow One
First time against this deck. I knew roughly what the deck does.
In the first game he starts with cycle Wraith, cycle Wraith but didn't found anything he needed and played Flameblade Adept. I kept a hand with the combo and started with a fetchland. He chipped in some damage but did no crazy things. On turn 4 I comboed off with Knight+Retreat.
+2 Ethersworn +Thalia +Evolution +Vithian Renegades // -2 Mayor -1Retreat -1Knight -1Tracker
Was super unsure with my sideboarding and it punished me. He starts off with an Adept. After that he looted and discarded Bloodghast and the Phoenix and played a Hollow One. The turn after he delved for a Gurmag Angler. As I mentioned above I only roughly knew the deck and didn't know about Gurmag and the Bloodghast...
-Renegades -Retreat -Plains -1 Knight -1Tracker // +Bojuka Bog +2 Staticaster +ForgeTender
I lost the game due a missplay in my opnion. I started with fetch/forest into Hierarch wich snacks a bolt. i was afraid of a blood moon wich he had in the sideboard but didn't board in and of a super aggro start. I fetch/plain and drew a Unclaimed Territory. Here i should have search for either a blue or a red source. After some combats he had lethal on board and i had a 5/5 Lieutenant facing a Hollow One. Here I drew a Staticaster wich I could not play because I was lacking a blue/red source. Flashing the Staticaster to block his biggest threat+shoot down 2 Bloodghast would be enough... Unforunately I was dead at this point. My only hope was to poker and hope he is afraid of attacking. So I attacked to force him to block wich he did. At that point my opponent started to think if there are any humans with flash and decided to go all-in. I said there is a human with flash... but not the right mana 1-2
Overall 3-2 and didn't had that much missplays wich felt good. Still loving this deck and happy it has good chances in the meta right now
Decided to fully embrace the Red splash and go up to true 4 color.
Has honestly been great. Kari Zev is meh, but it's nice to have another 2 drop. Mantis Rider has been fantastic though.
Congrats!
But your link don't work. Would you be so kind to post your list here? I'm suuuuper excited
Finished FNM 2-2 yesterday...
Round 1 vs mono green Stompy. Game one I combo off with Knight. Game two I hit a strong Company.
Round 2 vs UR Prowess
My opponent killed me game one with thing in the Ice and Kieln fiend. Game two I overrun him with to many dudes. Game three he threw they game away. I had a Knight facing flipped thing and a kiln fiend. He attacks and I tilted because was playing very slow. No blocks. He has no spells and I'm on a few lifepoints. I cast Company, hit Reflector and Knight #2. I can put him down to 2-3 life but on the swingback i would be dead. Opp? Scoops... ok.
Game 3 vs RUG Scapeshift
Damn it. I hate this deck. 0-2
Is it common to only play 21 lands in the Humans list?
When playing the traditional list, I always feel like 22 is the minimum I want to play (8 dorks), because there is a real chance your dorks get pushed/bolted or you don't curve out smoothly.
In my opinion YES!
In the humans list you play 15-16 one drops (4x Champion, 4x Hierarch, 3-4x Pilgrim and 4x Path)
You can go off even when a bird is bolted. Champion of the Parish is a bomb when unanswered!
Turn 1 hierarch - bolt
turn 2 champion into champion
turn 3 one drop/three drop/champion into Lieutenant
The three drops are awesome but im my opinion the Champion and Lieutenant are the stars that make humans playable. In the traditional Knightfall list you generate your value out of the three drops.
This is my current list! The cool thing about this deck that you can go all-in aggro with Champion of the Parish, do the combo or even play a more controlly/taxes style (with the proper sideboard cards).
Lately I lost a lot of matches because either CoCo whiffed hard or never saw CoCO/ Reflector Mage... so my last FNMs were mediocre. 3-2 & 2-2.
Some explanations
Only 3x Noble Hierarch - obvious budget cut. Although I like playing only 7 manadorks and would put out a Pilgrim for the fourth Hierarch.
One Meddling Mage main for Storm/other combo decks. It's more a meta-thing and it'ss nice to lock out your opponent by naming their wincon. All in all I'm not a big fan of the mage without any handinformation. Thalia, Heretic Cathar is a bomb! Good stats and her ability is even good when she resolves turn 3-5! I had situations where entering the battlefield tapped was the key to win! Tapped fetchland? Awesome! Tapped Smasher? Yup!
2x Tireless Tracker super nice card that I wanted to try out! It's ok in the maindeck but I will swap her with Eternal Witness again. Bringing back something from the graveyard is better than draw a "random" card.
Landbase - 2 basics of each because there is a lot of taxes decks in my meta and if you play against the same players over and over they will know the number of basics you run.
Also 4x Wooded Foothills and Unclaimed Territory because budget.
In the Sideboard I wanted to try some cards aswell. Shaper's Sanctuary looks cool. Had no chance to play it for now but I think it will work against Control. Spell Quller was once a human... I think? Anyway, it's a very good card and I try it over Unified Will. It's not the best against the decks you board unified will but I think it will work! Also it's a beater! Eldritch Evolution A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I'm a big fan of this card. It's suprising for your opponent and a Pilgrim is a good target to sac. I always had the problem not finding my answers after sideboarding... now I can tutor it. Nice!
The deck is a lot of fun and I really like that you have a lot of ways to play it!
Round 1 vs. Abzan
I think it's a good matchup. Game one he pushed my Champion and than Thoughtseize on a Path in my hand. Turn 4 i had the Retreat/Knight combo and finished the game.
Game two he had three Goyfs... After landing my Bojuka Bog he filled his graveyard again and had to much power.
Game three Reflector Mage was my MVP and after hitting an awesome CoCo with two Lieutenants he conceded.
1-0
Round 2 vs. Burn (Rakdos)
A matchup I don't like... luckily i playtested this matchup about 30 times with a friend the day before.
Game one he burned pretty aggro and I was on 4 life. He was in topdeck mode and had a Swiftspear on the board. He missed his land and wasn't able to flashback Bump in the Night.
Game two he played some Vexing Devils. I don't like this card because it has no impact and I can either block it or play a Path/Reflector. In my turn i cast a CoCo hit a Reflector Mage and a Lieutenant and swing for the win!
2-0
Round 3 vs. Eldrazi Tron
I really like this matchup. It's fun to play and even they do unfair thins a CoCo can bring you back.
Game one he plays Dismember on my turn one Champion. I follow with Champion and Hierarch. He plays another Tronland. I play Coco into double Lieutenant. Nice.
Game two I made some huuuge missplays... Turn three I concede.
Game three was sweet! I start with a Hierarch and he with Land, Bomb. Turn two i play a Stony Silence wich was gamewinning in the end. He plays a Ballista on 3. I play dudes to pump my team. We stall a little bit. He plays Hangarback Walker on 3. I have 3 outs wich I have to topdeck. I draw... Reflector Mage!!! Bounce his Walker on swing for lethal! The next turn he would draw All is Dust. That's magic.
3-0
Round 4 vs. Elves
Never played before and I think they have the better matchup.
Game one I try to build a board with big Dudes... Turn 4 Chord of Calling into Vizier into infinite mana into 10000x Overrun
Game two I tried to resolve my combo first wich I had on the hand... unfortunately I had no Hierarch. Turn three his combo was faster. Chord into Vizier into infinite Mana into Chord into Ezuri...
The good thing: The round was super fast so I could go outside and eat something
3-1
Round 5 vs. Living End
Also never played it before but I know what the Deck is about.
Game one my opponent underrated my deck and after resolving a Living End with just 3 creatures in the grave I play CoCo, CoCo, another CoCo and win.
Game two he was just too fast and comboed off turn 3. No chance.
Game three I played a Meddling Mage on turn two. In response he goes for Living End to "counter" my Mage... It was enough.
3-2
Round 6 vs. EldraziStomp
A cool deck and a nice opponent. I know him from my LGS and I know what he is playing.
Game one I played Champions, Lieutenants and CoCo. Too much to handle.
Game two he keeps a 5 card hand... he Dismembers my Champion and ramps into Smasher. I take the 5 dmg and play Reflector Mage. My turn, CoCo, double Lieutenant, a lot of triggers, a lot of damage and the win!
4-2
The best cards: Reflector Mage just tooooo good!!! Knight of the Reliquary can be a huge threat for the opponent. Hitting it after a Company is also always good! Thalia, Heretic Cathar I really like her. 3/2 first strike is very nice. Her tax effect is also pretty annoying for the opponent. Don't know if I go on two and cut a Eternal Witness.
The cool thing about the deck is (after saying it's not cool a few post earlier ) I can combo off first game. Even the scry 1 trigger is ok. After boarding I don't need to play Dork on turn one to play 3cmc on turn 2. I can, depending on the matchup, play aggro and go wide with Champion. Also I can play the midrange plan and play big threats (Knight) and take the game with a Company.
Company vs. Vial
I talked with a lot of players wich version I play and why I play this. I see CoCo as a removal, pump, two-creatur-spell, combopiece. Often my opponent needs a answer otherwise he is dead. While I think 4c CoCo is a bit tricky (but absolutely playable!) going 4/5c is easier with the Vial. Also you can play a more taxes-style-deck with the Vial.
Nice report polymorpher! Could you post a list :)?
Here a short report of my last FNM:
I played Larssons Human Knightfall-list. Only changed 2x Unified Will with 2x Negate.
Round 1 vs. Mono Green Devotion
Game one he played a ton of lands and fatties like PrimeTitan or Garrauk and his tokens. It was super grindy and i managed to push the last points of damage through.
Game two he again stalled the board with big creatures. He had a Kessig Wolf Run and 100000 Mana. Lethal on board but didn't saw it. I couldn't push enough damage and in the last minute of the game he saw his winning line. Time-Out 1-1
Round 2 vs. Eldrazi-Tron
I played against a very good player! Game one and two where similar. I had every answer for his threats and top decked even more answers
I was super sorry for those sick top decks! After the match i invited him on a beer 2-0
Round 3 vs. Eldrazi-Tron
I like the Matchup against E-Tron. It is always challenging and fun to play.
Game one i kept a aggresive hand after mulligan on 6. My opponent said "hmm it's a weird hand but i'm interested how it turns out."
Started with Noble Hierarch and followed up with Champion of the Parish into Thalias Lieutenant. My opponent just played tron lands. After massive swings i had him on 6 life. In his turn he plays All is Dust into Karn. GG.
Game two i had to mull on 6 again. And again a very aggressive start. Turn 3 i cast Collected Company, Turn 4 Eternal Witness and get back my Company. Turn 5 Company, hit a Witness, take company back, Opponent concedes.
Game three was very grindy. After clearing the board i had a single Champion on the board. Opponent casts Chalice on 4 to shut down my Company.. i had three in my hand :(. I draw another one... get in with Champ. My 10 turn clock is on! He draws another Chalice on two to avoid Lords. I topdeck a Viridian Renegades, target his chalice on 4, get in and cast the turn after company - win! 2-1
Round 4 vs. GW Hatebears
We draw. I thought i'm 3rd but there was another dude with 9 points so just finished 4th. In the end it didn't matter because i lost 1-2 in the friendly game.
Game one i did awesome things with company
Game two he did awesome things with Arbiter, Ghost Quarter and Mindcensor.
Game three he played a Wrath of God out of nowhere.
As i mentioned in an earlier post i don't like the Knightfall combo a lot. Maybe i didn't goldfished enough but starting the combo my blood pressure raises because of the fear of misscalculate. Beside that drawing a Retreat isn't so cool at all. Knight alone is ok but i think Anafenza is better.
Also i missed the disruption of Sin Collector. Against Titanshift of cards like Anger or All is Dust i have no answer that is proactiv like Sin Collector. Negate was good only once.
Cards that stood out: Reflector Mage - best card ever! Never had a moment where i didn't want to draw it! Thalia, Heretic Cathar - goodbye blockers, goodbye fetching, goodbye smasher - also a card that is always good!
Cards that where not that good: Retreat to Coralhelm - never saw it, never wanted to have it Knight of the Reliquary - it's a good card. But it was never bigger than 4/4 and i had no situation where i needed to tutor a specific land. Negate - maybe it's just my anipathy against blue spells Blessed Alliance - sometime i just don't know when to play it for the most value.
i think humans have a good match up against e-tron. Reflector Mage is awesome against them. Big thalia turn 2 can shut them down on mana and reality smasher. Sin collector shuts all is dust or a retched bomb down.
Yesterday i played against e-tron two times and the cards i mentioned won me the games (except sin collector, i played another decklist).
Against titanshift it is possible to race. Sin collector will help against scapeshift and boardwipes.
I think you are in a good spot against lot of decks in the meta right now
Some things i will change:
-cut 4x knights of the reliquery and both retreat to coralhelm. I never feel sure if it is right to start the combo. Also it is awkward to topdeck a retreat.
-in the 6 free slots i will go back to sin collector, anafenza, second thalia v2.0 and some other stuff.
-put rest in peace in the sideboard. Joel Larssons list plays no graveyardhate. It is to risky for me and i think there will always be a living end or dredge deck on fnm or bigger events.
-cut kessig wolfrun. Good card but without the combo it didnt had any impact.
I need some advice in playing the Knightfall combo I always played aggro and this is my first try on a combo deck. I'm playing a similar human-list like Wangan Midnight. Only difference i run 2x Mayor of Avabruck and 4x Path to Exile. And my Sideboard is a bit different.
If following questions were answered i'm sorry... Did not read through all 134 Pages.
1.) Setting up the combo
Only played about 20 game on paper now (only playing paper magic). When i have a hand with land, dork and the combo pieces i go all in the combo and play turn 2 the Knight and turn 3 the Retreat. I think that's the right way... ay? I know it will depend on the match up but i didn't had any issues that way. well, only against one deck which will lead me to my second point...
2.) MatchUp against Burn
Some posts earlier it was discussed what i can do against this match up. My experience showed that my opponent (played against a really, really good burn player!) always went for the controly plan by bolting my birds and remove my threads at all. The only time i could steal a win was going into the combo turn 3 when he was tapped out.
3.) Going into the Combo?!
When is the time right for a combo kill? If my opponent has untapped lands, a white source for e.g., i have to assume he has a Path to Exile. What can i do? If I go into the combo I will lose a lot of life, lands and in the worst case my huge Knight
4.) How possible is it to fail the combo?
Can you hit not enough lands? if your lifetotal is low it's obvious to fail but otherwise?
5.) The Mirror
Any advice for the Mirror? Would you board the combo out or is it a race "who can combo off first"?
It's my first take on a combo deck and it's a nice way to win games but as you can read i'm pretty unfamiliar with the whole combo thing for the moment.
Round 1 vs. Green Eldrazitron
Game one i kept a pretty agressive hand with two lands, Champion, Champion, Lieutnant, Mayor, Pilgrim. My opponent had turn three Tron but my start was too explosive.
Game two my opponent made a pretty huge missplay. I had some dudes on the board and he played a Thought-Knot Seer. I revealed a Stony Silence and Reflector Mage. He picked the Silence and next turn i bounced his Seer and beat him to 0.
1-0
Round 2 vs. Slivers
Cool to see some unusual Decks now and then.
Game one and two where similar. In both games Reflector Mage was my MVP.
2-0
Round 3 vs. Titanshift
I hate this deck! I only won one time against this deck playing Zoo and had perfect hands.
Game one i lost due a bad hand i kept. It was something with 2 or 3 lands, Hierarch and Thalia GoT. I thought i can slow him down with Thalia but it didnt work. He resolves Scapeshift and shots for 500000...
Game two i boarded in two Gideon's Intervention but didnt draw them. I kept a aggressive hand with Champ, Champ, Meddling Mage, Hierarch, Pilgrim, Pilgrim and 1 City of Brass... he removed every Dork i played... somehow i managed to get two Dorks on the field and cast a Sin Collector i drew. His hand: 2x Scapeshift and Anger of the Gods. I exiled the Anger and played the turn after a Meddling Mage naming Scapeshift. That felt nice!
Unfortunately he topdecked a mountain wich was the missing one to trigger Valakut. He played a Titan and killed me
2-1
Round 4 vs. Titanshift. 0-0-3. We drove together. He played the other guy we came with a round before this. We split and ended up with the Fatal Pushes. We play for fun and I win 2-1. I love playing this matchup. I have been testing it like crazy and feel like I've narrowed it to nearly a 50/50 matchup. You just really have to know what cards are important in this match and hope to draw them, lol. Grin
What's your gameplan against Titanshift?
Round 4 vs. Temur Knuckleblade
A pretty good player that used to play a lot of Bant Kightfall. We talked in between the rounds about the Knightfall deck and it was cool we got paired in the last round. Never saw the Knuckleblade deck before.
Game one i played some humans and kept his threats with Reflector Mage under control. It was enough.
Game two i lost when he set up his board. He had a Vial on 3, a Knuckleblade and a Clique on the board. It was enough.
The last game was a little grindfest. Turn two Thalia, Heretic Cathar won me the game by. I managed to resolve a company and hit a Reflector Mage and a Lieutnant. That was enough power!
3-1
The second FNM i finished 3-1. I'm super happy with the deck right now. I own now 3x Noble Hierarch and the more I play with this card it gets better and better! Reflector Mage is a huge card! Even with no target he has good stats and can start beating!
After talking with my opponent i'm going to build the KnightfallHuman list. That will give me a alternate wincon and the Knight of the Reliquary is a good beater though.
I wanted to try Sin Collector to fight against Scapeshift because too many dudes playing it... When Ixalan is released i will try the 2-Mana Human. I think picking any card could be Maindeck better than "just" a sorc or instant. Sin Collector for Mayor of Avabruck
In the Sideboard i replaced the Orzhov Pontiff with Dusk // Dawn. In my meta there aren't that many small creature Decks. I have to deal a lot with EldraziTron or Merfolk. In those matchups i think a massremoval hits them harder than me.
2x Dusk // Dawn for Orhov Pontiff
Some thoughts on match ups:
Scapeshift: It's sometimes hard to race them. Till now i never won a best of 3 against Scapeshift. Lifegain after boarding is just super annoying... For this Matchup I will try Gideons Intvervention over Meddling Mage. I know it's against the Company plan but it stops shooting Valakut in my face. Also it's harder to remove.
BloodMoonDecks: After learning it the hardway i had issues of getting my manabase destroyed. This isn't the problem anymore because i learned to fetch for basics turn 1+2. The only thing i'm not sure: is it better to play 1x basic Island? I had some situations where i had a Reflector Mage in my hand and no access to a blue source because of Blood Moon. The longer I think about it, I'm less convinced.
Jund: I played last friday against "classic" Jund (Lili, Goyf, Ooze) and it was super hard. Game one i played Mirrancusader turn two. This won me the game. Game two he did jund-stuff. Destroyed every creature, attacked my hand and slamed his Goyfs. I think I should boarded in Rest in Peace to shut our graveyards off. His Ooze just went too huge. Any tips for those grindy match ups?
Grixis Shadow: One of my favorite match ups! I played against a lot of competitive dudes wich could play the deck nearly perfect! My MVP is Mirrancrusader! Otherwise we can play Reflector Mage to bounce Tasigur or Gurmi. After boarding i like to bring in Rest in Peace. I would like to go up on 3x Mirrancrusader Main but don't know what to cut.
Aggro: I think we have a better position against aggro-decks. After resolving a Company we should be just fine and have the bigger dudes on the board.
For now i'm super happy with my ModernHumans. I would like to try Naya again and be more aggro but i think the meta isn't the best right now. I think Ixalan will bring some nice cards to our pool and make Humans a real option in modern
The first deck i brought to my LGS was a "Naya Humans Aggro" list. It relies on the old "combo" of T1 Champion of the Parish, Burning-Tree Emissary into Lightning Mauler and a huge swing. Backed up with some Lightning Bolt and Atarka's Command.
It was a fun deck and i even did a 6-3 finish, after tilt in the last round, on a bigger tournament. My main problem with the Deck was that there was no "plan B" and it relied to heavy on the 2-Drops. The deck looked something like this:
After trying other decks like "Revolt Zoo", wich was a similar style of play, i want to focus on "Humans" again. I'm now playing the BantBlack version.
Now some questions:
In some situations I don't know if it is better to play Thalia, Guardian of Thraben or a 3-Drop (mostly Anafenza, the Foremost). What do you recommend? I am aware that it's always situationally but maybe there is a norm.
What do you think about Meddling Mage? I am not sure with this card. In wich match-ups is it good and what cards i want to name?
Sin Collector? If yes, how many in the main? Or in the board? In my testing it was one of the worst cards...
Is Thalia, Guardian of Thraben that good? Don't get me wrong... I love this card! Sometime she hits super hard but sometimes she does nothing.
What is your opinion on the Mana Dorks? I saw lists running 6 other 8. Would you run 4x Avacyn's Pilgrim and 2x Birds of Paradise in favor of two more 3-Drops? If so, wich 3-Drops? Please let me know.
What do you think on "Naya"? I saw this girl playing Naya at the GP in Birmingham. She played Magus of the Moon over Reflector Mage to mess with the opponents manabase. Also another sideboard plan. Is an aggro build like the Blitz version viable in the current meta (with some major tweaks of course)?
That should be all for now. Sorry if you find some mistakes... english is not my native language.
What do you think of Magus of the Moon in the Sideboard?
I played Knightfall Humans - inspired by the "Joel Larsson List" (https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/the-complete-humans-company-primer/). I changed some cards in the mainboard - check the decklist some post above. Also I changed two Blessed Alliance and the Tireless Tracker (I play two in the main instead of two Witness) for Bojuka Bog, Eldritch Evolution and Shapers Sanctuary. Everything else is Joels list.
First I wanted to try out the List @Dejadal posted here but in testing I had just problems with Mantis Rider. It's a awesome card but I didn't felt confident with it.
Round 1 vs.
Still loving this deck and happy it has good chances in the meta right now
Game 4 vs 5c Humans
Awesome game wich I lost 1-2.
4x Avacyn's Pilgrim
4x Champion of the Parish
4x Thalia's Lieutenant
1x Mayor of Avabruck
1x Meddling Mage
1x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4x Reflector Mage
4x Knight of the Reliquary
1x Thalia, Heretic Cathar
2x Tireless Tracker
4x Path to Exile
4x Collected Company
2x Retreat to Coralhelm
4x Wooded Foothills
1x Cavern of Souls
1x Unclaimed Territory
1x Ghost Quarter
1x Kessig Wolf Run
1x Sacred Foundry
1x Temple Garden
1x Breeding Pool
1x Stomping Ground
1x Hallowed Fountain
2x Forest
2x Plains
1x Vithian Renegades
1x Meddling Mage
1x Ethersworn Canonist
1x Eldritch Evolution
1x Bojuka Bog
2x Burrenton Forge-Tender
2x Spell Queller
2x Izzet Staticaster
2x Shaper's Sanctuary
2x Stony Silence
Hey man!
I'm playing Knightfall Humans right now. It's a super fun to play!
Yesterday I played a 50+ player event with my human list. Finisehd 4-2 and made the 9th place!
Here is my list:
3x Avacyn's Pilgrim
4x Champion of the Parish
4x Thalia's Lieutenant
2x Mayor of Avabruck
1x Meddling Mage
1x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4x Reflector Mage
4x Knight of the Reliquary
1x Eternal Witness
1x Thalia, Heretic Cathar
4x Path to Exile
4x Collected Company
2x Retreat to Coralhelm
3x Wooded Foothills
1x Misty Rainforest
1x Flooded Strand
1x Cavern of Souls
1x Unclaimed Territory
1x Ghost Quarter
1x Kessig Wolf Run
2x Temple Garden
1x Breeding Pool
1x Stomping Ground
1x Hallowed Fountain
2x Forest
1x Plains
1x Vithian Renegades
1x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
1x Meddling Mage
1x Ethersworn Canonist
1x Blessed Alliance
2x Burrenton Forge-Tender
1x Bojuka Bog
2x Negate
1x Tireless Tracker
2x Izzet Staticaster
2x Stony Silence
Some cardchoices:
Meddling Mage in the Main because I expected a lot of Storm
Thalia, Heretic Cathar is a bomb! Even lategame it's a good card against Reality Smasher
Bojuka Bog because I would never leave the house without graveyard hate. Rest in Peace "kills" my Knight so Bog is a good alternative wich I can tutor with my Knight.
Negate because I don't own Unified Will
Also Budget:
Wooded Foothills
Unclaimed Territory
Round 1 vs.
4-2
The best cards:
Reflector Mage just tooooo good!!!
Cards that stood out:
Reflector Mage - best card ever! Never had a moment where i didn't want to draw it!
Thalia, Heretic Cathar - goodbye blockers, goodbye fetching, goodbye smasher - also a card that is always good!
Cards that where not that good:
Retreat to Coralhelm - never saw it, never wanted to have it
Knight of the Reliquary - it's a good card. But it was never bigger than 4/4 and i had no situation where i needed to tutor a specific land.
Negate - maybe it's just my anipathy against blue spells
Blessed Alliance - sometime i just don't know when to play it for the most value.
i think humans have a good match up against e-tron.
I will post my list maybe on monday
(I am on my phone sorry if you find typos)
Thank you for your help in advance!
short report on my last FNM!
We were only 15 people and played 4 rounds.
He played a Titan and killed me
2-1
Anyone tried some Ixalan cards yet?
Wanted to post an update on my Human-List.
Played some Matches at home and attended two FNM. Here are some changes i made:
So i bought two Noble Hierarch... damn, this card is worth every $$$ !
2x Noble Hierarch for 2x Birds of Paradise

Would like to read the report and your decklist
First of all i really like this thread! Cool to see Humans in modern again
Now... I wanted to share some thoughts and experience about modern humans with you.
I started playing humans back in standard 2013. I played the "Naya Blitz" list with Champion of the Parish, Burning-Tree Emissary, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, etc. Since than it is a pet deck of mine. Since 2016 i'm back into MTG and into modern!
Creatures (32)
4x Champion of the Parish
4x Experiment One
4x Monastery Swiftspear
2x Kytheon, Hero of Akros
4x Thalia's Lieutnant
4x Mayor of Avabruck
4x Lightning Mauler
4x Burning-Tree Emissary
2x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4x Lightning Bolt
2x Atarkas Command
2x Boros Charm
1x Path to Exile
Lands (19)
1x Plains
1x Forest
4x Windswept Heath
4x Wooded Foothills
3x Bloodstained Mire
1x Flooded Strand
2x Temple Garden
2x Stomping Ground
1x Sacred Foundry
After trying other decks like "Revolt Zoo", wich was a similar style of play, i want to focus on "Humans" again. I'm now playing the BantBlack version.
Creatures (31)
4x Champion of the Parish
4x Avacyn's Pilgrim
4x Birds of Paradise
4x Thalia's Lieutnant
4x Mayor of Avabruck
3x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4x Reflector Mage
2x Mirrancrusader
1x Anafenza, the Foremost
1x Thalia, Heretic Cathar
Spells (8)
4x Path to Exile
4x Collected Company
2x Plains
2x Forest
4x Windswept Heath
4x Wooded Foothills
1x Flooded Strand
1x Temple Garden
1x Hallowed Fountain
1x Breeding Pool
1x Godless Shrine
1x Overgrown Tomb
1x Cavern of Souls
2x City of Brass
1x Kataki, War's Wage
1x Qasali Pridemage
2x Stony Silence
2x Rest in Peace
1x Blessed Alliance
2x Burrenton Forge-Tender
2x Meddling Mage
2x Orzhov Pontiff
2x Kambal, Consul of Allocation
Main problems:
Yeah, the lack of Noble Hierarch and Cavern of Souls. I know the cards are crazy good but i am to stingy to pay so much for 7 cards. I convinced myself to buy a Cavern of Souls each month. Maybe I will do the same with the Noble Hierarch. I replace them for now with Birds of Paradise. I like the colorfixing a lot wich allows to play either Reflector Mage or Anafenza, the Foremost. What else should I change in the Main?
