Aug 24, 2017Yes I still have this deck in sleeves. It makes top Much Fun to pilot this deck. But its true. If you want max success the deck seems not to be primary choice. Nest I also want to test the gifts ungiven version. But for that I need to get the needed Cards.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Aug 8, 2017Dredge seems to be an autolost. They are just to fast for me. In most matches it needs several turns to balance the board.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
The burn matches are quiet okay. With the my three Collective Brutality main and one in SB I have good chance to have one in my start hand. And all 3 modi with possible Obzedat discard is high chance to win the game most of the time.
I also have a Devour Flesh in my SB. This is normally my answer for deah shadow decks. Sounds weired but helps to get several death shadows from the board and to balance it. Against burn it helped me several times to sac my own Tasigur or Obzedat. Later I can bring back Obzedat anyway.
Eldrazi Tron is really a hard one. Especially when they have an early Relic. I must hope for a turn2 Tasigur to have the fast clock on the board. SB rain of tears helps to punish their landbase.
Instead of Thirst for Knowledge I use the Pieces of the puzzle. Gives real card advantage and puts the creatures to the grave.
Jul 31, 2017Went Friday again 3-1. Lost again to Dredge. Won against Grixis Death Shadow, Abzan Midrange and Burn. At the moment I am pretty happy with the results. Would be interesting how deck would play against Lantern, UW Control and some Valakut decks. I am a bit scared about these matchups.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I heard about the mardu reanimator list. I tried alot with mardu the past months. Specially because I like Nahiri and Unburial Rites. But this is not reliable. You never find the creature you really need. The Deck is missing Gifts Ungiven or another tutor. Best really seems to be Gifts Ungiven for creature and Rites. But then you are on the Esper train again.
When you like Liliana you can easily add her in your Esper reanimator deck. You can use her as a discard outlett. When I remember correct Marc Tobisch played Liliana in his deck as well.
Jul 28, 2017Seems your list is really an all in reanimator list. For my SB I try to have as much instand/Sorcery as possible. because of self milling I still have the chance to flashback spells. Thats why I do not have Detention Sphere or Spreading Seas. I also do not have any Counter Magic. Geist of Saint Traft can really be an interesting choice.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
With these decks we don't have any auto win matches. On the other side the gifts into Iona is for some decks unbeatable.
Later today I will play FNM with same list. Will see how it will work.
Jul 27, 2017Not sure yet what is right or wrong. Just need to test the different cards and ideas for this deck. For now I decided to go with the Tasigur version. And it is really fun to play. Together with Thought Scour it can be the early beater and for the long game it can give us the card advantage which we want. But I am open for other ideas with this deck. Tragic Lesson looks decent for the Griselbrand plan. Post your list.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I modified my list and added Collective Brutality for the burn and agro matches. Kicked the Inquisition for more Thoughtseize's to steal combo pieces like adnausem and scapeshift. Added Anguished Unmaking main and one into SB to get rid of problems. I like such flexible cards more than just enchantment/artifact removal. The Collective Butalities are helping to balance the lifeloss. The two Lost Legacy are superb against Combo.
Last week I played two FNM and ended both 3-1. Deck felt good and was really fun.
And sunday I joined PPTQ. But there I went just 3-3. Overall it felt much better than the result was. Made some really bad decisions. More playtime will help to avoid bad plays.
0-2 Dredge - Clearly a bad matchup.
2-1 Burn - was easy because of 3 main Brutality and early Obzedat
2-0 Abzan Midrange - very grindy. Was lucky to get have more Lingering Souls than him
1-2 Eldrazi Tron - He just won third game because of his Surgical Extraction onto my turn2 discarded Obzedat. Wrecked me
2-1 Ad Naseam - early Tasigur brings enough power. We just need to handle white leyline to continue disruption
1-2 Burn - lost third game by stupid mistake. for some reason I did not discarded my Obzedat. then I got my worthless vengeance.
After PPTQ I was able to test against mono white Hatebears. Went 1-4 in matches. Seems like a difficult matchup. I was not able to handle all those tiny creatures to balance the board.
Jul 25, 2017I especially liked the alternative plan with an early Tasigur. Opponents are having often only fatal push as removal in their hands. So they can only take the damage or jump block with creatures to not get too much behind. The souls token or obzedat are then just finish them.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Jul 17, 2017Hey,Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I really like the playstyle of this deck. Recently I saw some video content from Goldfish, Frank Lapore , Gerry Thompson and the Gifts version from Jeff Hoogland. And all looked really fun to play. So this is the build I startet my testing. So far I am rally happy with it.
Last Friday I went to local FNM and finished 3-1. Won against Mill 2-1, Grixis Shadow 2-0, Ad Nauseam 2-1 and just lost to BW Eldrazi Hatebear 1-2.
After these first few rounds it felt really good. I always was able to disrupt the opponent and to follow the own deck plan.
Will need some more time for tuning this list.
