Also attached below are images of my current decklist and temur toolkit that has everything I need to craft the best Temur Delver list. And yes, all the cards pictured except for the 3 Surgicals, 2 Delay and 1 Hazoret are FOIL. GP Los Angeles 3/1/2019 will be my last hurrah for magic, a victory lap so-to-say. It will be a farewell to the game and my beloved deck of choice. I'm probably not going to play in the main event, but I will for sure be jamming some side events with the deck before I hand it over to the vendors.
As a thank you to @ashtonkutcher for the countless hours, articles, and postings he has put into the archetype, I will be mailing him a card of his choice from the aforementioned collection. So Jordan, send me a message so I can get that card shipped out to ya! Thank you so so much!
And also as a way of expressing my gratitude to the people who post here, I will be giving away one more card. One lucky person will also receive a card of his/her choosing! Here are the necessary conditions that you need to meet in order to have a chance of winning:
- You need to have at least ONE post in this thread before 2/14/2019.
- You hit this post with a like.
Again, thanks everyone for the great times and memories. As for why I am deciding to quit magic, there are a couple of reasons. 1) I've become disillusioned with the game. Between how much time it takes during the matches to shuffle decks, personal distastes of games that include mulligans, the streamlining and "weaponizing" of Modern, and how little enjoyment I get out of the game nowadays: my passion for the game has run its course. 2) Realizing that there is more to life than having shiny pieces of cardboard. I look at how much money I have spent on these things that just don't last and I wonder if there are better things I could be doing with my money. Throughout my magic career, I would always want more and shinier cards, thinking that once I acquired them I would be satisfied and happy. But the truth is, that anytime we look to material things for fulfillment, they never provide it. Sure, it feels good to acquire new magic cards, but feelings fade and pretty soon I find myself wanting to feel that good feeling again. And so the cycle continues. Don't let this happen to you!
Anyways, I digress. It's been a good ride, fellow Delver and Hootie aficionados. May your Delvers always flip, Goyfs always be 6/7's, and Thought Scours never mill all your fetchable lands. -Riku.

I actually played with 2 spell snares in my sb for a while. Here's the matchups they usually came in for:
Afinity: counters pretty much all of their best cards.
BGx decks: counters a lot of strong cards like dark confidant and goyf, as well as terminate and scavenging ooze. usually felt the worst against abzan.
Humans: This may seem out of place, since humans has cavern and vial, but it's totally worth bringing in since it answers a ton of strong cards like phantasmal image, thalia, thalia's lieutenent, and kitesail freebooter. the risk of it being dead is totally worth the reward, especially if your playing looting anyways.
Burn: Counters most of the cards that are strong against us like eidolon, boros charm, and skullcrack post board when we have brutalities.
Storm: counters all of their rituals and their enablers, which can slow them down a ton.
Goryo's vengeance: counters their most important card, and a lot of their discard outlets, like collective brutality, cathartic reunion, or izzet charm.
that's about all i can recall off the top of my head

this card is really exciting but i feel like just trying to slap it in as a 4 of in place of already well established cards like bauble or serum visions (or even looting to an extent) is incorrect. the best way to put this card in the deck is to trim some of the numbers of other stuff, bonus points if it's searchable by it too.
idk though, we may never end up playing this card. only time will tell i suppose.

here's a few cards you could try

1 peek
counterspells
1 mana leak
1 remand
1 logic knot
1 spell pierce
1 spell snare

The tempo build:
1 Bloodstained Mire

1 Polluted Delta
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Spirebluff Canal
2 Steam Vents
Instants (19)

2 Electrolyze
1 Opt
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Remand
4 Wizard's Lightning
4 Wizard's Retort
3 Chart a Course
4 Serum Visions
Creatures (16)
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Snapcaster Mage
4 Spellstutter Sprite
2 Stormchaser Mage
2 Vendilion Clique
2 Ceremonious Rejection
2 Dispel
1 Grim Lavamancer
1 Izzet Staticaster
2 Magus of the Moon
1 Pithing Needle
2 Precognition Field
1 Pyroclasm
2 Relic of Progenitus
1 Surgical Extraction
The tempo build has a faerie sub-theme with spellstutter sprite and vendillion clique. This engine has proven to be powerful in the past and still is to this day, and not only that but it seems fantastic with the wizard spells. The tempo version has a lot of powerful plays and is very flexible, being able to play the control game or the aggro one depending on the matchup. Play this build if you like playing efficient counterspells and high temp cards like clique and remand, or if just like having some fun games of magic.
Then we have the Aggro build:
3 Wooded Foothills
1 Misty Rainforest
1 Island
1 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Spirebluff Canal
2 Steam Vents
1 Stomping Ground
Instants (13)
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Opt
4 Vapor Snag
4 Wizard's Lightning
4 Faithless Looting
2 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Serum Visions
Creatures (16)
4 Bedlam Reveler
4 Delver of Secrets
2 Snapcaster Mage
2 Soul-Scar Mage
4 Stormchaser Mage
4 Destructive Revelry
3 Grafdigger's Cage
4 Spell Pierce
4 Young Pyromancer
This deck capitalizes on the efficient burn given with red and the mighty draw engine of faithless looting and bedlam reveler used in mardu pyromancer/midrange, a deck which is arguably tier 1 right now. The aggro build is very focused on burning your opponent out of the game with lightning bolt and all it's knock offs, while drawing more copies of them, which is nice since it means you dont need your creatures as much to win. Play this build if you like drawing cards and throwing bolts at your opponent.
I should also note that I feel the aggro build is more competitive, even if only marginally so.
For those curious about the green splash, I figured it would be wise since it doesnt have as many counters, that the deck have efficient ways to deal with things like leyline of sanctity, which is important since there is so much burn in the deck.

could maybe use some work and fine tuning but this seems like it will be really strong
Some other good wizards are
soul-scar mage: could be good against collected company decks and other value-based creature decks.
Nimble Obstructionist: it's pretty good against a bunch of random stuff like storm.
Jace, Vryn's prodigy: a good card for grindy mu's and for against bridge decks
Baral, Chief of Compliance: could be good in a more value oriented build without the spellstutter sprites
Thoughts?

Here's the list: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-wubrg-45517#paper
1
4 Urza's power plant
4 Urza's tower
4 Urza's mine
1 Tolaria west
1 River of tears
6 Island
1 Gemstone Caverns
1 Tectonic edge
1 Academy ruins
1 Buried ruin
This has worked very well for me so far, I've been considering trying out a Field of Ruin but don't know if it'll be much better then tec-edge.
Anyways back to buried ruin, the card has been fantastic for me as there are so many situations when I just want to get an artifact back to your hand (for me at least).
I think you guys should really give the card a shot, as I've found it to be fantastic.

one of the main solutions to this problem that I've found can just be to play a black land, like River of Tears or Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth, then all you have to play for rocks is Talisman of progress. Plus if you decide to play urborg as your black source, it also works well with titan for killing manlands, opposing tron lands, etc.
