So, summoning sickness, does it only apply to activated abilities that involve tap? Can you fire off Dawnglare Invoker the turn you cast it?

  • posted a message on Mercy Killing vs Lightning Greaves
Can I force a player to sacrifice their creature equipped with Lightning Greaves by casting Mercy Killing on it? Mercy Killing doesn't cast a spell or ability on the creature, isn't targeting the creature simply to designate what opponent I'm forcing a sacrifice to be made?

So, can she wait to find out that I am selecting an enchantment that will prevent her, in the future, from targeting Zur with her Lightning Bolt? It looks like from your steps she only has the option to place the Lightning Bolts on the stack when I trigger Zur's ability to go fetch an enchantment from my library.

I have two questions about timing.
    1) When is the first time you can interrupt someone during their turn? I have seen rules that say certain phases can't be interrupted or start a stack. So If I want to use an Icy Manipulator to tap an opponent's Maze of Ith, when is the first time during her turn I can interrupt her and declare I'm doing that? Does this same timing apply to casting a creature with Flash or with Flash as an ability?
2)I control Zur the Enchanter. I declare that I am beginning my attack phase. I declare Zur the Enchanter as an attacker. I activate his power and search my library and place Diplomatic Immunity onto Zur. My opponent has two Lighning Bolts and two untapped mountains. When, if ever, during this entire process, is it legal for her to cast those Lighning Bolts to try to kill Zur?

OK, I didn't see anything specific about this, so I am asking. If Siege Rhino leaves play/battlefield/exile/etc for any reason and comes back to the battlefield later, its effect gets triggered, correct? So if I have a Siege Rhino on the battlefield and activate Planar Guide, when the Rhino returns, its effects will trigger, correct?

OK, I have some Mishra, Artificer Prodigy questions. I've been reading the forums and looking at cards and am confused, mostly because I think that some rules, cards, and definitions have changed.

My first question is, what is the status of Artifact Lands? Old versions, like Seat of the Synod say they aren't spells, but that text seems to have been removed in updated versions like Seat of the Synod. So, does playing an artifact land now trigger Mishra's ability, or not?

Second, some people had deck builds in these forums that involved stealing opponents' artifacts and using them to trigger Mishra's effect, like Geth, Lord of the Vault. But is putting a card into play the same as playing? as Mishra requires?

  • posted a message on Dying saprolings
One of the new Dominaria cards, slimefoot, the stowaway seems like it would make any thalid-saproling-sacrifice deck an order of magnitude more powerful. The rules say that "dies" means a creature getting sent to the graveyard even when it is sacrificed. So sacrificed creatures "die", but do saproling tokens "die" since they are tokens and don't end up in the graveyard? I think the answer to this is yes, that they get sent to the graveyard, so they die, even though they don't get placed in the physical graveyard, but I wanted to ask because this card seems very powerful.

Interesting, so tis begs the question, why did they do this? was there something broken abut the little circles with numbers? it seems to me to be a pointless change.

So is there a difference between the new colorless mana symbols with the little diamonds and the old colorless sybols with a number in them?

  • posted a message on Rule of Legends revised?
Has the rule of legends been revised recently? I saw some conflicting posts from 2013. It is my understanding that if a legend of the same name enters the battlefield, both are destroyed, regardless of who the owners/controllers are. Is this still correct?

  • posted a message on Control of hexproof
If my opponent has a creature on the board with an enchantment on it giving it hexproof, and I take control of the enchantment because it is a permanent, am I now free to target the creature with spells since I am the new controller of the hexproof?

Thanks. I was basically looking for the global "Can'ts beat Cans" which is the only thing that makes sense

So, what happens if my opponent has a Platinum Angel in play and I cast (for the second time) Approach of the Second Sun?
