I see that there was a recent question about triggered effects on the stack, so I'm not sure if I should start a new thread or reply to that one. I think my question is sort of related, but I'm really having trouble wrapping my head around a situation that came up in tonight's EDH game.
On his turn, the Xyris player cast Wheel and Deal. We resolved this by having each of the non-Xyris players discard and then draw seven cards. That led to 21 snakes being created by Xyris, which created 21 triggers for Purphoros, Impact Tremors, and Rampaging Ferocidon. We built the stack as follows:
We resolved starting at the end of the list, with Rampaging Ferocidon trigger #21 going off first, followed by Impact Tremors #21, all the way back up the list to snake #1. When we got to a point in the middle of the stack where all players except the Xyris player had hit 0 life, the Xyris player was declared the winner even though he still had incoming damage on the stack.
Did we handle everything correctly? There was a fair amount of talk about the game possibly being a draw because all players would have been below 0 by the time all triggers had resolved. However, based on the other thread I reviewed, this would have only been the case if the same individual trigger had knocked out all remaining players. I'm not sure we set things up correctly, though, and am wondering if I could have gotten all of my Ferocidon triggers to go off before the Xyris player's triggers.
Some questions about cast triggers came up in a game recently. I cast Liberate on my Guttersnipe with a Storm-Kiln Artist also in play. This led to several questions about what actually happens, as well as a hypothetical.
I was hoping that I would get the Guttersnipe trigger because the Liberate spell was cast while Guttersnipe is still on the battlefield. Is that the case?
Then someone revealed that they had a Murder in hand, and wondered what would have happened had they cast it in response to the Liberate. I suggested that Guttersnipe would still trigger from the Liberate because he was on the battlefield when I cast the spell, and Storm-Kiln Artist would also trigger because Liberate was cast. However, the counterpoint was made that neither would trigger because Guttersnipe would have been removed before he could trigger, and since Liberate no longer had a valid target, it would fizzle, and thus not trigger Storm-Kiln Artist. Is either of these suggestions correct?
My playgroup is getting a little more advanced, and in yesterday's games we had some issues arise that have never come up for us before.
At the end of my opponent's turn, we each had one life remaining. I had a tapped Syr Carah, the Bold and Sulfuric Vortex in play. We went to my Untap step, where I untapped Syr Carah. I didn't think abilities could be activated during the Untap step, so we went to Upkeep. Sulfuric Vortex triggered at the beginning of my Upkeep, and in response, I tapped Syr Carah to ping my opponent for one. He was reduced to zero life.
1) Was my understanding of when and how abilities could be activated correct?
2) Does the game end immediately at that point? Or does everything on the stack need to resolve, meaning I then take damage from Sulfuric Vortex and the game ends in a draw?
I have a question about copying damage triggers that are on the stack. If I hit an opponent with Daxos of Meletis or Thada Adel, Acquisitor, then copy the damage-triggered ability with Strionic Resonator, can I choose a different player as the target for the copy? Or does the target need to be someone the creature actually damaged during combat?
Ah, I see--the first time Toothy blinks, he becomes an illegal target for anything else that was on the stack, which is effectively the same as flickering something to avoid targeted removal. I wasn't even thinking about it from that perspective.
I have a question about how to resolve simultaneous flickers. I have the following in play: Brago, King Eternal, Strionic Resonator, Felidar Guardian, and Toothy, Imaginary Friend (with one +1+1 counter). I hit with Brago, then copy the flicker effect with Resonator. With both flicker triggers, I want to target the Guardian and Toothy. When the Guardian comes back into play, can I target Toothy with his flicker ability as well? Or is Toothy not on the battlefield because they're flickering at the same time? I guess it's not clear to me if this is a case where I get to set the order in which the triggers go on the stack, or if it's out of my hands because the Brago trigger seems to flicker them at the same time.
In other words, does Toothy leave the battlefield two or four times in this scenario?
I'm trying to understand the order in which things go onto the stack. One particular example came up recently: I hit with Brago, King Eternal, Daxos of Meletis, and Nevermaker. What dictates the order in which they resolve? Is it possible to to trigger Brago, use his ability to flicker Nevermaker and put something on top of my opponent's library, then resolve Daxos' ability to exile (and eventually play) that card? Or do the abilities resolve simultaneously, meaning that when damage is dealt, the thing I bounce with Nevermaker isn't yet on top of my opponent's library for Daxos to pluck away?
Thanks for clarifying!

I had Torbran, Thane of Red Fell and a Rampaging Ferocidon in play. An opponent had Xyris, the Writhing Storm, Purphoros, God of the Forge, and Impact Tremors in play. The Xyris player had 17 life; everyone else had 12 or less.
1) Create snake #1.
2) Purphoros trigger.
3) Impact Tremors trigger.
4) Rampaging Ferocidon trigger.
5) Create snake #2.
6) Purphoros trigger.
7) Impact Tremors trigger.
8) Rampaging Ferocidon trigger.
9) Create snake #3.
... and so on.
We resolved starting at the end of the list, with Rampaging Ferocidon trigger #21 going off first, followed by Impact Tremors #21, all the way back up the list to snake #1. Thank you for clearing it up!
