Gosh, I am so glad I don't play Standard right now. What a mess. I don't there has been this amount of bans in this short of time for Standard since Mirrodin Block and Tempest Block before that.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I appreciate the different ideas here other than the cards that specifically stop triggers on creatures entering the battlefield. Stopping a single trigger is great, the suggestions here to make it more difficult for repeated recurring triggers are outside of the box that I haven't thought of before. I have noticed in EDH even a single ETB trigger off a creature can be game warping, even a simple Wood Elves fetching a dual land on turn 2-3 totally changes the game in the beginning turns and for potential further abuse later on to get so far ahead in resources it gets kinda stupid. I hope they print more ETB trigger hate in the future, as it has gotten out of control with what they keep printing.

I can't thank you enough for saying this, especially the artificial scarcity aspect of the secondary market. Any card is available online, there is only a few cards or something like Japanese foils that you might not be able to find on ebay or a hundred other online sellers that you might be able to justify its price for having it be genuinely rare (numbers of copies-wise). The actual value of a card isn't determined by it's actual rarity or scarcity, it is priced by needless speculation, seller price gouging, and a combination of secondary market sellers taking advantage of the MtG communities' blind willingness to spend hundred(s) dollars on a single card because fans *think* it is rare or hard to find. I mean ffs, alot of these $40+ cards are from in print sets that are available at your local Walmart lol. It is complete bull*****. I miss the days (late 90's) of when a highly sought after tourney rare was $20 max, because let's be real here, that is what a trading card game's max value of a piece of cardboard should be at.

I can't be the only one that thinks ETB: The Gathering has made the game dumbed down and easy. ETB triggers are so non-interactive and easy mode Magic that it has inspired me to make a deck that is completely dedicated to shutting down all triggered abilities on creatures. Aside from Torpor Orb, Stifle, Trickbind, Voidslime, Disallow, Time Stop, Glorious End, Humility, Hushwing Gryff, and Summary Dismissal, what other strategies and commanders do you use to stop ETB decks?

I fail to see why you would play any of these over any flashback card. The only one worth considering is Commit/Memory, since both halves are unique and very useful for EDH.

Mods, can you rename this (derailed) thread to "complain about anything you can think of just because" please?

Seriously, all of this over a single planeswalker who is a "human". Nobody has anything better to do?

Well I am glad you agree on EDH stapley type stuff, but when your decks just have the same ol mana rocks, counter spells and such your decks start to become homogenized and feel the same. Instead of putting Thran Dynamo and or Sol Ring in every deck, why not put more synergistic cards that fit at least thematically with your commander? At the very least it will inspire some creativity instead of the same tired EDH cards that have no flavor or thought put into them.

When your decks start having the same cards in them, I think it is time to stop.

Looking at Quicksilver Elemental, I really wish they would print a commander that is a activated abilities focused 5 color Necrotic Ooze with a Torpor Orb effect to help stop the rampant ETB: The Gathering EDH games. Barring the spikey optimized lists that would probably pop up with the usual Kiki-Jiki infinites, I think it would be an open ended fun commander to build around. Probably will never happen though.

This thread needs to be renamed "complain about anything that comes to mind".

It isn't fair to say ALL tribal decks are linear, zombies have quite a few different ways to build with a number of ideas and strategies depending on the variety of zombie commanders to choose from. You can choose "the best" out of any build of tribal, but that doesn't mean you have to. The less cards there is of that tribe, then there will be more of the same decks. If I want to play Thallids for example, there really isn't many Thallids to choose from so there will be the same Thallid Thelod of Havenwood deck as everyone else. I guess it is limited on your imagination of course.

Well regardless if those are casual or not power level wise, that makes the choices extremely linear if you want to make it a dragon tribal deck. Your choices are extremely limited which means the deck will most likely be the same no matter what build of dragon tribal a player would like to make. This commander will probably just be used as another blue/white instant/sorcery deck that has been done so many times before. Disappointing. At least the other leaked commanders are more tribal-centric and open ended because they are 3 and 5 colors.

I hope this isn't legit, because why would there be a Dragon commander that isn't red? There is what, like 10 dragons total in white and blue colors? As a non dragon tribal commander, doesn't seem terribly interesting since it lends itself to generic spellslinger infinites. Not my jam, hope there is a good zombie one though.
