i'm for letting it be legal in blue and see whats happened it can always be banned later in everything if need be.

Also I think Cloudpost should be watched closely... with todays win 7-0 and holinca winning with it a few weeks back not saying it needs a ban but if it starts winning every week. (I drew badly in the finals and think I could have won with better draws but definitely watch it over the next months)

(also even though I feel like I'm bugging at this point I still have no e-mail from Classic Heirloom 10.70 so if you did report it could you please look into it for me)

Glad to see your ok Pippa Smile

To toss this out there I could Potentially step up and host on Sundays (if your unable to find someone to host both days) Or I could be a backup host at least (I hosted tourneys for Traders/Alphabot for years back in the day) However Fridays are out of the question for me as I can't even play on Fridays currently as I do World of Warcraft carries as a side job and our Friday run is right at tourney time :(.

I can't remember the last time I saw anybody play Aluren in Legacy--maybe like 2011? In any event, it actually turns out that Aluren is on the Reserve List anyway, so it's not going to be in this set, and ergo I'd imagine that neither is Cavern Harpy.

Yes i didn't expect aluren But like we have seen sneak attack but show and tell doesn't seem to be in the set. just cause 1 card of a deck is in doesn't mean that every card needs to be in. Cavern Harpy is an ok limited card to go with the fact that its part of a legacy deck. remember this is supposed to be a limited first set. Ravenous rats+cavern Harpy was amazing in IPA limited together. Would not be shocked if we see both come together again here as we have yet to see any little creatures and tricks yet for limited) But even if Ravenous rats isn't in the set Cavern Harpy+any CIP effect is usually really good in limited.

Possible cards for slot #198 (between Bloodbraid Elf and Dack Fayden):

If I had to take a guess, I'm going with Captain Sisay, Boros Charm, or Counterflux.

    Thoughts?

Cavern Harpy is part of a tier 2-3 Legacy deck that actually see's play. Alluren. So I fully expect cavern Harpy to be in this set.

I feel that Ancient tomb is likely to be spoiled soon. could use a reprint and fits the list of remaining spots nicely.

Second the idea of "vintage" heirloom. There are a number of cards that are probably cheap enough. Fastbond, Skullclamp, Necropotence... Dark Ritual... you know the broken things we can't normally play...

Although given the fact that we restrict the use of cards like Swords to Plowshares, I'm not sure if this will actually happen.

well i'd think that something like dark ritual would still have to stay banned If we were able to do that format as a one off or even as a Once a month thing Would be cool.... unfortunately as lack of FOW would make dark ritual a turn 1 kill. but without moxen or lotus not much else would change other than cards like Library/Yawgmoth will/Yawgmoth bargain/wheel of fortune/vamp tutor/Mental mistep being allowed as 1x and some 4x's would be allowed opening up new stuff to build around.

As it stands, the weirdest gap in this entire mix is the multicolor spread. There's 18 cards between Bloodbraid Elf and Deathrite Shaman, yet so few after that.

Yeah, that is odd, maybe they're changing up the numbering scheme for some reason? Are they separating Hybrid from Gold?

Here are the multicolored cards between the two that aren't modern legal.

    EDIT:

They're definitely just separating Gold and Hybrid, that is how the Ravnica sets were numbered. Nothing to see here.

Even so I would be shocked if Cavern Harpy isn't in the set. Seems perfect amazing limited card and used in a tier 2 legacy deck.

That cheer you just heard? That was your local Commander player.

    Absolutely not.

This set is ultra limited to the extreme.

I'm expecting to be unable to get a box for less than double MSRP.

I might as well just buy all the cards that are being printed in it with how expensive and unavailable it will be.

Preorders on Mana crypt on Star City are 59.99 so thats already 1/3rd of what you would have paid yesterday for it.

  • posted a message on IF Bant Company dominates Pro tour as it did with the last events.....ban reflector mage?
This should be changed to if WG human/Bant company/Cutthroat Company take up 50% of the meta post PT should Collected Company be banned... cause reflector mage isn't anywhere near as OP as CoCo right now.

Couple things. I believe we basically saw decks alot of brewers have already pieced together but these have been formatted to beat bant and humans.

The G/B Aristo deck is not on the same level as rally before it. It's goal is the same tho. Muck up the ground and buy time to combo off by saccing to ormendal, or sacing for zulaport, or just to make husk really big.

Without rally, it's much , more vulnerable to sweepers. So yes, it's a great deck but I wouldn't climb aboard the buyout hype train.

The G/R Ramp deck looks to be ramp with goggles added. Pretty cool, but def not unbeatable.

W/B and R/B Mid range should emerge to fight both the aristocrats and the human/bant decks, which will allow ramp to get better, allowing a re-influx of aggro and the cycle goes on.

I'll admit I was a bit worried about Bant Company and when I first saw it, G/B Aristo being tier 0 because it just seemed amazing but after further reflection, both are very beatable and don't seem to be anywhere near as oppressive as Rally or Abzan was before it.

To sum up: I love it. Not having a clear top deck is awesome. Brewers rejoice!

why is everyone overlooking G/B control? Finkel is 7-1 with his only loss to Mana flood game 1 mana screw game 2 in a matchup that with maindeck kolitas should be like 70-30 in favor of him..... That GB control deck can wipe WW can go long vs Bant and can sweep to exile vs GB husk.. it may be the strongest deck of the tourney yet no one is talking about it.
