I can't say enough good things about Triumph of the Hordes with Blasphemous Act and Spiteful Sliver. With three slivers, you one-shot a table. And assuming one or two players have creatures out, Blasphemous isn't that expensive, leaving mana open for Triumph.
I think I’m going back to Dramamtic Scepter. Scepter alone eats removal but my whole deck is predicated on being able to run a haste sliver with a mana ability and wrecking face. PE getting the ban was a real kick in the teeth.
Alright, want to get a last minute deck analysis in here. This is something I've put together over a long time. Started as kitchen table commander, and as the group got more competitive, and going to LGSs for commander groups, started updating it accordingly. Kind of a little bit of aggro and a little bit of combo just cause one strat doesn't always work, and I dont have any non-sliver tutors for cards like training grounds to help with some of those combos.
Welcome to the Hive!I really like the embrace of the swarm, this is a solid "Slivers matter" deck. My only thoughts are you may benefit from Cryptolith Rite as you are playing a creature heavy deck and running five colors, some sort of wipe evasion like Teferi's Protection or on theme Frenetic Sliver, and finally playing some sort of interation, be it Counterspell or Negate. All meta dependent, I am impressed by your dedication to running a swarm deck, awesome!
Edit, sorry: With the high amount of creatures plus the ability to go wide with Sliver Queen, consider running Triumph of the Hordes as this can be a game-ender for aggro decks with evasion and multiple opponents.
What is everyone’s thought on Sliver Queen with Lavabelly Sliver and Basal Sliver? Probably won’t make many friends but seems like a strong win condition. Would this be easier to assemble with reanimation themes or using Sneak and Show tactics? Also, if you unearth with Dregscape Sliver how does that interact if you follow up with Teferi’s Protection or Ghostway?
How do you guys handle it, hive members? You reveal your commander and you get hated out. My list is running around 28 slivers but recent games I spent as the archenemy which makes me feel like I should run interaction, which comes at the expense of creatures. Spiritually, how do you make peace with cutting slivers to run more practical cards and call yourself a sliver deck?
Thanks for the reply. I am using the Overlord. The problem I seem to be having is either losing the aggro race to Markov and it doesn't feel like I bounce back as quickly from board wipes, which come frequently. When I do win, it's with shadow/flying/menace and Triumph of the Hordes. Patriarch's Bidding is useful, but it feels like I need to be running more counters, which would come at the cost of slivers. Teferi's Protection is fantastic but also eats as many counters as I do chips.
This is probably meta-dependent and maybe I've gotten unlucky. Using a slightly modified aggro list, I've had a lot of success both one-on-one and in multiplayer, to the point I get hated out. Lately, a Markov deck and the ninjitsu commander have been tough match-ups. Markov's eminence ability provides chump blockers and cannot be stopped in addition to several game-ending combos in that deck. The ninjistu commander is tough to interact with and if the Divining Top stays, impossible to stop. I've thought of adding more counters but it would likely be at the cost of slivers. Anyone have a similar meta or a work-around that may not involve sacrificing more slivers?
Thanks for the reply and the advice. I am running other draw like Phyrexian Arena, Braingeyser, and Distant Melody. I was thinking about Ad Nauseam given the relatively low casting cost of the deck. I recently played two games that resulted in poor mana draw saved by Gemhide with Manaweft or Cryptolith Rite as back-up and finished the game with some mana rocks, which got me to thinking about adding Armageddon. Are there other boardwipes people run? Adding Ghostflame Sliver doesn't seem to add enough outside of being able to run All is Dust.
Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been playing commander for a couple months using ideas from here. I've liked slivers since Tempest and love the tribal feel. I am making adjustments based on what's happened in games so far. I'm running Descendants' Path with Mirri's Guile and some tutors to set it up. I will grant that it has yet to happen. When I have tutors, I'm looking for Manaweft Sliver or Crystalline Sliver to make sure I can get the Overlord out. Has anyone tried Call to the Kindred? Is it viable to set up something where in the upkeep, you're dropping slivers on to the board? My concern is the more cards needed to make something happen, the more fragile/less likely it is to set up. I am running Brainstorm and draw cards to assist with optimization. I was hoping someone had already gone down this rabbit hole and knew if this was feasible. I'd like to post a full list and get feedback but am not sure if this is the right thread to do it in.
