The decks I listed are probably the most powerful commanders of that set and yeah they should be roughly equal out of the box.
I forgot about daretti. :|
The wizards deck is ok out of the box, but it has much more potential (in my opinion) than the other decks. The precon comes with a huge amount of really good legendary creatures and one of the alternate commanders, Kess, is a tier one commander.
The deck give LOTS of different upgrade paths. And Grixis (Red, Blue, Black) is one of the more powerful color combinations in Magic.
Some useful resources:
Commanders by tier (Disclamer: just because a commander is a high tier doesn't mean that it is easy to build or fun to play against!)
Edhrec.com - Really useful for looking at commanders and getting some build/upgrade ideas.
Tappedout.net - full of deck lists. There are a great amount of budget deck lists on here that cost around the same price as a precon. In case anything different tickled your fancy.
Here - there are tons of deck lists here as well and also a huge amount of people that can help when you want to brew your own deck or upgrade a precon

Nov 7, 2017Well, this all depends on your budget. Some of the decks are pretty damn expensive (Atraxa).Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Theres 5 of you, which works for most of the sets. C17 only has 4.
The issue is that theres some rather large variation in power levels within the "blocks" ie. Meren is MUCH more powerful than Kalemne
I would go for the commander anthology and then something from C17 (Go for Wizards). However as much as Derevi is a tier 2 commander, the precon sucks...
This will give everyone a roughly even playing field to begin with.
If not Im not 100% on the precon power level, but a rough Commander power guide would be:
C16: Atraxa/Breya/Ydris (Plus they have the partner commanders)
C13: Jeleva(and Nekusaur)/Derevi/Prosh
Hope that helps
Oct 17, 2017I personally use and really like MTGUnofficial. Has a free and a paid(£0.99) version.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
From what i can remember, the free version only has a limit of 5 decks but everything else is the same.
Great and sleek interface. Good search engine and the deck building is pretty easy.
The only drawback is that it can take a few weeks for a new set to be added as its only one guy that runs the app.
Hope it helps.
PS. I have this on android, not sure about iOS
Jul 31, 2017Loki_Lulamen posted a message on Commander 2017 announcement -- Only 4 decks, based on popular tribes, not color wheel!Posted in: The Rumor MillI could imagine something like the following:
Loki, Father Magus 1UBR
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard [MR]
Eminence - If Loki, Father Magus is in your command zone or on the battlefield, whenever you cast a Wizard spell, scry 2.
Tap two untapped Wizards you control: Loki, Father Magus deals 2 damage to target creature or player. Draw a card.
Id build that

We cant suggest cards if we don't know what you have already.
Thought vessel is always a good choice as it gives you unlimited hand size.

Apart from that, my top 5/almost auto includes are
W: Sun Titan
U: High Tide
B: Dark Ritual
R: Lightning Bolt
G: Llanowar Elves
Jul 18, 2017First things first. Card Tags are really useful here (and all over the forum) just use [ c ] to open and [ /c ] to close (no spaces)Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Talrand is great with storm. anything with storm.
I have never really paid much attention to the balance of instant and sorceries. I just go with what fits the cure and is a better spell.
Playing blue in EDH means you
wantneed LOTS of counter spells. (its just the done thing /s )
Anything that allows you to "cast a copy" is worthwhile as well. ie Swarm Intelligence
Mono colour decks don't need mana-fixing like a 2-5c deck. So your land base can be pretty simple no need for fetches/duals/signets etc.
Mana doublers work incredibly well for mono decks. Extraplanar Lens, Caged Sun, Gauntlet of Power and High Tide
Hope this helps
Jul 13, 2017So i had a quick search and i couldn't see that this had been brought up here before.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Personally i am ok with proxies, but within reason. I use a total of 7 proxies in my decks.
4 for commanders, but i do own the official cards. These are just for show and to make my decks stand out as they are custom artwork foils.
3 are "official" cards, but are from a '99 championship deck(Gold Bordered). These are Wasteland, Yawgmoth's Will and Vampiric Tutor.
I recently acquired an Eternal Masters Wasteland Which has replaced one of the proxies. This has made me feel a lot more comfortable playing the proxies as I could now switch it out if I was entering a tournament or if someone had an issue with it.
The other two have not been replaced, mainly due to cost, but because my playgroup don't really have a problem with just running two.
The reason i have brought this up is that a couple of weeks ago, a player showed up to my LGS with a VERY badly proxied Atraxa deck.
The proxies were in black and white an about half the size of the land card in the sleeve.
He was running all 10 fetch lands and all the ABUR duals etc. Basically a $5000+ deck which he had made for less than a cup of coffee.
While I feel that proxies should not be an issue for casual play. I do feel that some effort should be made if you are gonna proxy a card.
So my question is: What are this communities feelings on proxies? Do you use them? Are you ok with other players in your group using them?

Imprisoned in the Moon for Rashmi
As for removal. anything that exiles the god is good. If they die normally they are returned to hand and therefore immune to commander tax so exile them back to the command zone.
