What the **** the raptor combo with poliraptor so easily that it isn't even fun
it actually isn't fun since it's a game draw

It is fun if you have a lightning strike as a fail-safe.

We now have 8 Octopuses in MTG, 9 if you count Unstable.

    *Octopodes.

No.....it is most properly "octopuses." Unless you really want to utilize the Greek in place of the accepted English, "octopuses" is the most commonly accepted plural in cephalopod biology.

I made sure to google it before I posted, and went with whatever version was highest on the page. Very scientific method.

Planeswalker burnout is going to be a real thing very soon.
    WoTC better be careful.

Well if there was anyone who is holding a whole bunch of Elderspell, they may finally be rewarded.

I know that nobody cares about my opinion, but after WAR, I am burnt out on PW. I am ready to go back to them being mythic rarity and hard to get in packs.

I guess they are pushing Chandra since she is looking like she will be the face of the new Netflix show, at least that's my guess.

I am just waiting for the rare and mythic rare versions of Davriel.

I think Davriel would make a fantastic protagonist for the show.

A show with a villain protagonist. I'd watch that.

And don't go claiming he isn't a villain, he traffics with demons.

Did you learn nothing from Brandon Sanderson's novella, lol?

He is not really a "good" guy, I will give you that. But, he also isnt really a villian.

    Maybe I interpreted it incorrectly.

Like most monoblack planeswalkers, he's a villain protagonist. I think Sorin is the one nonvillainous exception, but even then, Sorin's a bastard. But once you traffic with demons, you are no longer a hero. And even ignoring that, he literally rips peoples memories out of their heads (I.e. forces a discard).
But that does not mean that villain protagonists aren't capable of doing good things, many of them do. It's been a very long while since we've had a truly heroic monoblack character.

    OK, that makes sense.

I was thinking about posting this same exact thing and then I scrolled down to your comment.

    I agree

Forget about the Weatherlight saga, it's an old story that concluded 15+ years ago and doesn't ring a bell to most of the new players. It's also quite complicated. It needs to resonate with Magic as it is now.

Since it will be tied to the current Magic image, it will be very PC. So nobody will die (Like in GI-Joe), villains will be mustache-twirling overlords with stupid minions, there will be mandatory diversity, strong empowered females with witty lines and so on.

I liked Castlevania on Netflix, but here, I expect a kind of Power Rangers experience.

I cringe at the thought of this...

I am still going to hold out for a live action movie based on the Innistrad story line; I think that would being in new players.

I would be curious to see how WoW subs increased (if at all) after the movie came out.

I do agree Animated is a better choice then Live Action.

Live Action would only work if it had something like Game of Thrones' budget. Since that is impossible, animation is perfect.

I wonder which animation studio they would hire? Smile

a style similar to The Last Airbender would be acceptable imo.

The series will be animated by Bardel Studios. You may have seen some of Bardel's work on Rick & Morty, Teen Titans Go!, and Netflix's The Dragon Prince.
I like the animation in The Dragon Prince, but the other two are definitely not appropriate for MtG.

I would be happy with whoever made the WAR trailer.

That just shows that the studio has range, which means it is a good choice.

I hate to be "that guy" but the preview image made by Netflix has Chandra on it. We are not getting an Urza TV show.

Good. If I wanted to see a show about a supervillain, I'd rewatch Dr. Horrible or Megamind.

Magic the Gathering with Rick and Morty animation.... Sweat

I would much rather have a live action movie based around Innistrad...or really any live action movie based around any of the existing story lines.

I just hope it isnt too....childish.

I dont want it to make me cringe every time I watch it.

Sadly, it seems Phyrexians on Ixalan isn't currently a thing: https://twitter.com/alisonthewizard/status/1134491192668766210

This doesn't mean the dream of Mecha-T-Rexes terrorizing the Ixalan countryside is dead though, just that they won't have infect Laughing
Well this is just bad naming. Ichor is almost always used to refer to Phyrexian Oil in Magic and thst flavor text sounds ominous. Is ichor even used irl to refer to regualr oil?
It's an irregular use of the word's meaning, but not wrong?

In the 'a watery discharge from a wound' definition.

Realize there is no 'in real life' use for an ancient Greek term for Godblood. All uses are going to be fairly out of use.
I don't necessarily agree with that. A word of similar origin is ambrosia, the food of the gods in ancient greek myth, but today it is used as another term for honey or simply in refernece to the actual desert named after it. As another example, a derivitie of ichor, petrichor, has a very specific definiton. I don't agree that a word's mythological origin bars it from having a real definition.

I just think that it's very odd for Wizards to use Ichor in refernece to regular crude oil when, to my knowledge, it isn't used to refer to crude oil at all irl and it already has a very well known, very specific meaning within Magic. They could have used other terms that actually refer to regular oil, simply "oil", "petrol", or even "black gold" (which would have actually been a clever thematic choice because Ixalan already has an entire city of regular gold, setting up a sort of parallel).

At the very least I hope that the discovery of actual oil on Ixalan means something going forward and isn't just a footnote. It would be interesting to see some factions begin to industrialize and come into conflict over this new resource.

They are just using it as a descriptive word. Ichor can really be used to describe and unknown liquid that is gross and slimy, it had a very specific definition long ag, but often times it is just used to describe a generally unknown gross, viscous liquid. Just my opinion.

I think yall are over complicating this.

Just to say that if he admited someone opened product up to 2 weeks before release and in the worst scenario someone at WotC investigated and even treatned reddit adm of ban on protecting a leaker...
I mean it would not happen it is a bit absurd but who knows what the guy was thinking when he shared a card that has the possibility to see play and could spike some other cards.

Could easily be a ploy to spike the price of said cards and make a nifty profit.

True, but idk if there is any specific and significant card that would spike after this leak. Maybe foil lunar force?

Second Chance...it did/is spiking, even if it is not modern legal.
