i use ultra pro duel deck boxes for my double sleeved decks. there is also plenty of space left over for tokens, sideboards, and replacement sleeves. they also make a pro deck box which is a little smaller, but should fit the deck just fine without the extra space of the dual deck box.

i am running shu yun, the silent tempest as my general for 1v1. you lose out on the green pump spells, but have plenty of red and white pump spells to make up for it. with red you also gain access to the double strike spells which can create a turn three win. i am running all of colorless and the on color infect creatures below four mana with the rest of the deck being pump, protection, evasion, or filtering. as an added bonus you can also score kills with shu yun, the silent tempest with general damage. i have been able to score a turn three win a few times with a lost leonin or one of the other two mana infect creatures. the deck plays a bit like a glass cannon, but i think that makes it a little more fun.

  • posted a message on trinket mage targets
it would be for my phenax, god of deception deck. currently the only 1 mana artifacts im running are mana vault and sol ring. if i were to add trinket mage i would also include vault of whispers and seat of the synod as well to bring the total count to four. no combo pieces to find, just simply mana. i just dont think four targets justifies his use.

how many artifacts that are searchable with his ability do you think are needed to make trinket mage an inclusion in your deck?

  • posted a message on What to do with Playmats?
i use a clothes hanger thing i found at ikea. im sure it is for towels or something, but it works great for my playmats and wasnt too expensive. here is a link http://www.ikea.com/jp/en/catalog/products/10188775/ . i can fit up to five on one hanger and then i just store it in my closet.

as a side note, i am in Japan so im not sure if this item will be found everywhere, but i would assume that you can find it in the US.

I keep trying to log in via twitch log in using Firefox and the user fields keep disappearing before I can enter anything preventing me from logging in. I end up with a mostly blank page. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Train them. Offer them tips to improve and help them understand why their builds maybe aren't so good. You're likely not the only one whom will have a stronger deck than what they have to offer. If they refuse the help...well, that's on them.

You can only lead a horse to water...can't make 'em drink.

train them to do what? change their decks and playstyle to accommodate some one new? that is how you run off players.

for the original question, as the new person to the group you should try to play to their power level, at least initially. if they are causal players and you come in and start stomping them they are more likely to avoid playing with you as opposed to improving their decks. it sounds like they have a playstyle they all seem to enjoy and upsetting that and then telling them to improve wont make you many friends. however if you have no interest in playing with them again just stomp their throats in. just make it quick so they can get started on the next game.

i have dealt with this situation quite recently as i have moved to a new country (Japan) and am trying to integrate myself into the local shops playgroup. the issue i am having is there is a handful of casual player along with a handful of competitive players who show up each week. i have started bringing a couple different decks for playing depending on who i am grouped with. for the most part majority of my decks are in line with the casual players power lever, but i have had to try to spike up a few for when im grouped with the spikes. as the "outsider" i feel its my responsibility to play their game and not force them to play mine.

  • posted a message on Necropotence or Greed?
thanks for all the responses guys. i am running a "perfect" mana base with duals, fetches, urborg, tomb of yawgmoth, and plenty of filter effects so the three black of necropotence doesnt worry me much. i do have dragon mage in the deck along with a couple of wheels, but i do like the other demons mentioned. i think ill try to make room for them some how.

i think the arguments for necropotence have me leaning towards it. it seems like greed may be a "safer" option, but im liking the pure power of necropotence and the lack of mana in its activation costs. ill give it a try and see how it does. thanks again.

im looking for reusable card draw in my kaalia of the vast deck and the two cards im trying to decide between are greed and necropotence?

necropotence has a challenging casting cost with triple black, but once in play it is free to use as much as you want. the drawback is that you dont get the cards until later. the plus is that you can start each turn with a full grip of cards.

greed has an easier mana requirement when casting, but has the drawback of requiring mana to use for each card drawn. the plus is that it gives you the card right now.

which would you choose to use?

thanks for the suggestions guys. i like the psionic blast recommendation. they probably wont see it coming and i can see how it could have uses dealing with creatures as well. bouncing is always a possibility, but isnt really a good long term solution and in some cases might be worse as they will have access to a replenished planeswalker. and sadly just countering them isnt always an option, especially in a multiplayer game. oblivion stone is a thing, but im not sure there are any other similar cards in blue or colorless.

thanks again for the suggestions. i ended up adding dovescape and guile to deck and took it to fnm last night. i figured dovescape worked well with the decks goal and as it is only a two card combo it was easy to slide in. in the game we played i was able to get the dovescape in play and coupled with peacekeeper i was able to slow the game down as intended. i never found guile though as the game had gone very long and the shop had to close. overall the deck did what it was supposed to and i cant wait to find guile to pair up with the dovescape.
