I for one am looking forward to adding them to edh decks. Tapped? So what, fetch end step, then untap. And more cycle lands is cool if you get flooded and are looking for an answer.
Either way, I'll just pick them up after the initial craze of release dies down. Doubt they'll see extensive standard play (maybe 1 or 2 in a deck at best) unless of course we see fetches.
Sadly i have to wiat till teh next se to get the enemy colored ones. I can run 1 in Riku, 1 in Leovold, 2 in breya (but I probably won't) and none in Mazirek.
I feel ya man, I'm still bummed they didnt finish the bfz duals in enemy colors. :S
So my buddy likes magic. We started EDH a year ago and he played with us, playing an angel theme deck. It was cool, but he hates losing, so sorta faded out from playing.
Now he's wanting to hop back in after we've played a few times at his place (with his dad).
Issue is, he gets hung up on theme. NOW, for starters. I LOVE theme decks. My Queen Marchesa deck, imo, is a theme deck. I roleplay in my head how each of the cards is representative of something within her sphere of authority/rule etc etc.
So, we sit down and he decides on a color pairing. We come up with UW from his legendary pool. He likes the Azorious battle mage aesthetics. And that's it. He wants all the cards in his deck to fit this theme. Well, in my mind, i'm unsure if there are enough cards to fit this aesthetics.
I asked him, what do you want to do with the deck. "Win" was the response. But also, all the cards have to fit the visual appearance he wants.
I tried to be polite as possible and explain that sometimes you have to sacrifice a little bit of theme for synergy, etc.
I'm just afraid he'll play two games and then "quit" again.
Any idea's how to help him find a suitable middle ground?
Art is subjective. If I have a foil option either in my bin or it's cheap, sure why not. If I just love the card to death then I'll spend the extra bones. As for basics, my 3 color decks usually only run 9 or so basics, so I just make sure no repeats (3-3-3 split mostly). Easy peazy, lemon squeezy. I'm a sucker for Zen full arts.

I like this deck a lot. Just wishing she had at least one other color to play with. Also, Hero's Blade could be fun, but I understand slots are precious and it doesnt do anything beyond being thematic. Also Konda's Banner is a cool tutor-able anthem as well as Dragon Throne of Tarkir being a nice pump or pseudo Craterhoof Behemoth
I've been looking into this as I've had a Leovold since C2 dropped and have been wanting to sleeve up a deck for him. Problem is my playgroup is pretty diverse when it comes to power level and I'd hate to upset some people with going overboard with wheel/box effects. What's the end game look like? I've seen a few Leo elf balls but I don't really see anyway to interact besides clogging up the board with 1/1's (maybe Door of Destinies and Coat of Arms + elf lords?). Do you run any bigguns' like Craterhoof Behemoth?
Always difficult walking the line between casual and semi-spiky
Yeah definitely. Like mentioned, it hits a lot of popular uitility/combo commanders, and hits troublesome pieces from Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, to oppressive enchantments like Price of Glory (albeit at sorcery speed), Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and much much more. It's one of my favorite cards of all time even though Nivix Cyclops is one of my favorite creatures lol
So this was the Second deck I really took time to research and assemble after getting into the format almost a year ago. (First was Marchesa, the Black Rose).
This deck is a lot of fun and sneaks out wins even when it's obvious what your plan is. As long as others are playing out threats, you can turn your Voltron up to 11 (ok, actually 7) and start wailing on people.
The deck isn't super fine tuned still (budget options here and there as you can see) but I'm pretty happy with it and at this point, my win percentage is probably highest with this deck compared to my others.
If you're looking for a simple strategy to go for in EDH, Sigarda is as good as any. And she is THE best of the Power Puff Girls (Innistrad edition)
Feel free to let me know what you think, what to look for or any easy changes I can make. I know there are some obvious additions like Wrath of God, Greater Auromancy, etc.
I tried posting a decklist in the EDH area using the guide provided here
But when I preview my decklist, etc, it comes up looking like this. Is that normal? I didn't want to post if it doesnt look right, especially after working on it for the better part of an hour or so. I went back and double checked my brackets, etc like the linked guide showed, but nothing.
While I respect the power of the queen, Hivelord is just too cool imo, and will be my Sliver of choice should I ever walk down that dark road. (coming from a guy who's been wrecked many times by sliver queen)
I just added Price of Glory to my Queen Marchesa deck the other day! Operating at mostly Sorcery speed, this is a nice deterrent! One of those quirky old enchants to mess with the blue player. Lots of neat things on your lists
Some newer cards that work decent if you include the sac altars/etc are Marionette Master to start the drain game and Underhanded Designs as early drain and/or a doom blade on a stick.
Yahenni, Undying Partisan is a cheap sac outlet that turns into a big beater. Sidisi, Undead Vizier is also a decent tutor on a stick and triggers your queen. And we can't forget little ol' Carrion Feeder. Enchantments like Awakening Zone and From Beyond also offer up fodder for you outlets. (EDIT:: Forgot they were colorless, but still options to sac to other abilities for value)

Newest card I've been looking at is Duelist Heritage
Thanks for reading!
