Hi all. New to 8rack and played a semi budget variant last night (only 2 lili's at the moment) and I just wanted to report in on Torment of Hailfire
I ran 2 copies mainboard and had some pretty good success with it. Usually if I saw one early I'd pitch it to lili or collective brutality, but even then casting this for 4 on turn 4 didnt feel bad as by then they had no hand, and even at one point nothing to sac.
I'll keep experimenting and let you all know. As for my games, I lost to GB elves and Mardu Humans (aggro is rough even with 7 spot removal plus sb), draw against a RG stompy dragon build and got a by(?, bye?, bi? ??)last round. Not super great results but I had fun with what I had available to play with.
Yeah and I can't find anyone with the same issue, or if they do have a similar issue, they are in a different version than mine and the help they receive isn't applicable.
EDIT:: My fix was cutting and pasting all the not bullet-ed information out, retyping the list with bullets on, then re-pasting all the non-bullet-ed info back in. AKA, a big big pain in the butt when before it was so simple....
I'm having trouble with bullets in Word 2013. I remember in one of the editions you could just left click drag and highlight what you wanted to bullet and then click the bullet toggle on the toolbar and bam, bullet-ed list. Now when I try to do this in Word 2013 it starts a single bullet on the very first line of the document, regardless of where my cursor is or what I highlighted. I'm pulling my hair out trying to do something so simple....
Here is my Sigarda Aura's build. It's pretty budget friendly as well and has done quite well for me.
It seems as if my local meta has a pretty nasty slivers deck in it. I'm wondering if it would be worth running Descend upon the Sinful and/or Final Judgment in an effort to curb the indestructibility.
Those are solid EDH board wipes if Wrath of God and Day of Judgment esque ones aren't cutting it. Single target exile is also invaluable and cheap in white so don't skim on those as well.
Well, it just depends what you want to be doing. Generally you want your curve to allow you to do something on turn 1, 2 and 3 as often as possible. The fast lands provide a way to do that without having to fetch and shock yourself for 3 life on turn one. Sure, this isn't a huge deal, but if youre up against something like burn or the like you'll want to play rather conservative, fetching on their end step and not shocking yourself, etc etc.
And holy crap, didn't realize blooming was up that high. Yeah, they should come down again I'd imagine. Totally up to you, I just like having a turn 1 dual without any hiccups.
Of the newest dual lands, I'd probably try and collect all the Kaladesh "fast" lands you might want (Inspiring Vantage, Blooming Marsh, etc) as their counterparts (Darkslick Shores, Copperline Gorge, etc) are pretty popular in modern and their use can be considerable in those colors who previously had no option for fast lands.
So I got into standard during Eldritch Moon/Kaladesh and really liked Smuggler's Copter. Talked myself into buying them after many many people said "they never ban anything in standard". Now I have 8 useless Copters.
I reckon this is ok to post here. So I've always wanted to play Lightning Angel. She's just super cool and avoids stuff like Inquisition and Eidolon, so that's a plus. Also passes the bolt/helix test. Just, at 4 mana and color intensive she's usually shrugged off. So here's my janky take.
First off, it's pretty budget as I'm trying to maximize stuff I have already (like Fumaroles instead of Colonnade). Just something I'd like to take to fnm weekly. As you can see I really like the 4 to the face spells haha
Anywho, game 2 I kept an opening hand with Island, Swamp, and what I thought was a Command Tower but was a Reflecting Pool...
So for the next 12+ turns I sat with my 3 very NON green lands, slowly discarding every Elf I had.
Then someone dropped a Bearer of the Heavens and it got dealt with, effectively restarting the game. I was at roughly 20 ish life and proceeded to draw enough lands and mana rocks in the next few turns while my opponents struggled with mana (losing all theirs the Bearer mind you) and was able to cast Rise of the Dark Realms and get back all of those elves I had slowly been discarding all game. It felt pretty good.

Just finished a Leovold, Emissary of Trest elf tribal deck for EDH...and now he's banned.
SO! What card do you want me to ban and I'll buy and play it for a day and it'll end up on the list!

5 man game today. I was playing Leovold, Emissary of Trest (elf tribal). 1st game I killed a player then got milled out (Tree of Perdition + a copy + Phenax, God of Deception)

Humility. Talk about raining on parades. Audios voltron decks, see ya later "x" tribal, deuces random stompy deck, etc etc.
