    What an ugly file Smile

I hope you mean the file format, not my beautiful deck. Smile Thanks for the help.

It's funny that some things never change. Smile When I was playing years ago and a regular on the MTGO forums, there were constant complaints from casual players about "net decks" (i.e. top tier, expensive constructed decks). Based on that WotC attempted to create separate rooms for casual, semi-serious, and serious players. Somehow everyone still ended up in the same place: the "casual player" room. The other rooms were nearly empty most of the time. From what I've seen lately, that seems to be the same, too.

To be fair, some casual players didn't want to play against any deck style they didn't like (e.g. counter magic, discard, land destruction, or even semi-heavy removal), and that was part of the source of the complaints.

Thanks for the offer. I don't see how to upload a file (just an image) to the forum, so here's a Dropbox link to one deck file.

It looks like MTG Studio can import .dec files from old MTGO and re-export them in other formats. I will give that a shot when I get a chance, and post the results here for future reference.

Thanks for the reply. The format is, I believe, not text-based. I have tried opening the files with a text editor, but they are not readable. At the time there was a 3rd party (free) tool to convert the .dec file to a plain text deck list (with optional links to card images!) for posting in the forums. I don't remember the name of the program now or that of the guy who wrote it, unfortunately.

I have a general idea of the cards in the decks, but it has been a long time since I used them. I was foolish, apparently, to assume that WotC would support their proprietary format through new versions. Had I converted them to text files at the time, I could rebuild them now.

I could certainly upload or email a representative file, if that would be of any use.

I have my old "net deck" files from way back (V2?). I see how to import a deck into the new client, but it doesn't know what to do with the .dec format. Is there a reasonable way to convert the old files for the new client, or do I have to start over completely? I tried searching in the forum, but I couldn't find the answer to this.

    Thanks in advance.
