posted a message on B&R Update: Ironworks Banned, Hada Freeblade, Spatial Controtion, Circle of Flame banned in Pauper.
KCI was banned because it was winning too much AND was an event time management issue like all eggs decks have always been. Thinking streaming had anything to do with it when they've already announced Standard+ is gonna be the non-rotating format for Arena where the thick of their streaming viewership happens, is just conspiranoic.

When less people play because of higher costs, prize pools diminish. So really the only ********s who actually want card prices to soar are people who don't play the game.

I will not rest until I get a Teysa, Orzhov Scion in the Orzhov kit. Maybe with new art, by which I am NOT trying to imply that her original art is at all bad... and I rather think that the Orzhov guild symbol will look REALLY good on those cards....

this is all i want from these products. teysa orzhov scion with new art. its not that hte original is bad, its that she isn't necessarily the focus and it detracts from it as a result.

okay fine. while i love the edh deck i took it apart because i got tired of the comments people made about the person behind her in the art. it got old quick.
I'd rather not risk her getting an Etrata-tier art.

    its already etrata tier art
Not it isn't, Teysa, Orzhov Scion is a moody and tense scene depicting the lawyer of a crime syndicate. Etrata's guild kit art puts a vampire assassin in what looks like a paparazzi taking a candid shot at some sassy celebrity while she makes a weird face.

If we can't get art of the quality of Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts, and we can't because Karla Ortiz apparently doesn't work for WotC anymore, I'd rather they not make new art for either of Teysa's previous cards.
    Called it.

The decklists look generally weaker than the GRN ones, and less valuable too. In fact Rakdos is by far the most valuable at $35, where the least valuable from GRN started.

And yes, Teysa and Zegana are two more victims of identity politics stealing your identity. You are the powerful lawyer of a crime syndicate? The deposed voice of reason in a medical lab that got sold into an arms race? No, you're angry magic woman or angry fighting woman. Individuality might offend someone.

By the way, do we have any info on when the guild kit decklists and the cards with new art from them will be revealed? The lands have already been spoiled...

This. The Rakdos kit is something I'm buying regardless, but I'm really curious as far as the other ones go. In GRN we saw that, of the five guilds, two were represented by a previous incarnation of the current leader (Boros with Aurelia and Selesnya with Trostani), one was represented by a previous incarnation of a character who's no longer the leader (Izzet with Niv), and two were represented by important members newly introduced as cards in GRN itself (Dimir with Etrata and Golgari with Izoni). So by the same token, what should we expect from the RNA kits?
I stopped expecting anything when Ruric Thar wasn't the second Gruul Legendary.

Tron needs to die. So long as there's a deck that can solve any boardstate tapping 3 lands, playing midrange is a handicap.

As someone who has been squarely set as their favorite guild being Rakdos since the very first set we got guilds, I can say that this card is pretty disappointing.

BR has a long and sad history of terrible Legendary Creatures. Olivia Voldaren, Mogis, God of Slaughter, Grenzo, Dungeon Warden and Vial Smasher the Fierce are the only ones generally agreed to be good. With Rakdos, Lord of Riots, The Scorpion God, Lyzolda, the Blood Witch and Xantcha, Sleeper Agent being potentially good when their gimmick works. Playing any of the others is a pretty much a handicap.

Thankfully, Judith, the Scourge Diva is super good because this Rakdos goes in the handicap bag. His stats are mediocre in Commander and Standard, while Modern and Eternal have much better demons to cheat in.

posted a message on Magic Pro League (9 pm announcement got spoiled early)
So you play Arena or get ****ed. Because with no Nationals, no MWC, no Pro Club, no Team Series. Rebranded RPTQs and PTQs with undisclosed means of qualification that can only be run by "hand picked WPN members". If you don't live near a big store in a big city, you're already ****ed.

Wouldn't even be surprised if the 32 MPL members have already been chosen anyway.

I'm sure this won't bite them in the ass next time they make Standard ***** and the safety net of people playing other formats at MTGO and the LGS isn't there to save them.

Yeah they clearly want the game that spawned an economy of it's own an a handful of community-created formats dead in favor of absolute control.
Who the **** wants to play Commander, Pauper, Penny Dreadful or Tribal Wars? Play Standard or die.
