GJ's response to my post only makes me even more convinced he's scum. Agreeing with/appeasing me without actually confronting my accusations. A way to get someone to lower their guard without them realizing and make them doubt their own scum read. He's not defensive because that's what I criticized him for but he's trying to get me off his back in a subtle way, I believe.
Another thing is, scum love to town read me because I look very townie in the way I present myself. The thing is though, town is uninformed and must be paranoid by nature, no one can automatically be sure of my alignment just from my tone. But scum see me looking townie and decide it's safe to back me since it looks obvious to them- because they're informed.
I'm saying this because it stands out to me the GJ in particular has me and only me in his VV/very townie list (besides himself), something he still hasn't exactly explained besides saying he likes my posts and thinks I'm pure (I'm not sure what pure means in the context of mafia). With more people slightly backing that read he can feel confident in leaving it like that without bothering to explain, too. Problem is his biggest town read is scum reading him, and just says I'm being "lolKit" instead of taking me seriously. Buddying me but invalidating my read.
Now this gets a little fuzzy, but I feel like Grapefruit being scum makes sense alongside Bur. He seems too sure of Bur being scum, knows Bur's propensity for a bad scum game, and general could use that to his advantage. Additionally, I rather like Rband clocking Grapefruit overall, and could see him as scum without Bur too.
Lastly I really wanted to OMGUS shadow, but I've kind of decided his vote on me (with my knowledge that I'm town) makes him close to lock town. I don't think scum!shadow makes that jump from Scum!Bur to voting me regardless of Burs alignment. Pushing me first kills the chain mislynch potential since I've been pushing Bur whereas lynching Bur first still let's him push my lynch toMorrow regardless of Burs flip.
Why Do you guys think scum is gonna bus like this on Day one? Is that a common thing here or something? Doesn't make sense to me.
I'm honestly having trouble finding motivation to keep up with this game because of the long phase format. Whenever I do come back it feels like the game is happening around me rather than me being in the game, and I'm finding it hard to absorb information of what's going on in the thread. And I keep pushing the 48 hour rule... I'm sorry, but I might end up replacing out soon, cause I can't see myself doing this for weeks and weeks, and I'm not gonna hope for an early mercy kill.
That said I finally caught up again and I'm going to continue to do what I can until I decide if I do want to rep out. So here are my general thoughts, since I have no pings and I'm too tired go about picking out and responding to specific things and quoting.
I can't really follow the Mindreaver train. I see what the accusation is but it's hard for me to see why he got so many votes.
I think Rhand and Cantrip are town from their contributions to analyzing. I am fairly sure Gruffin is town from the town slip earlier.
I still really dislike GJ's posts... something about his interactions with Cantrip makes me think it's town (Cantrip) pushing scum (GJ) and scum just brushing it off without really offering real counterpoints, just trying to invalidate Cantrip's points. I think he is way too focused on getting people to town read him, too, and he doesn't even have a train. He's also pointing at his OWN meta going "see, I would be town according to my meta" which.. you can absolutely do as scum. The fact that someone knows their meta means they can use it to their advantage to, so it doesn't look good at all. And then there's that contradiction about "usually distant as scum, therefore I would be vigilant as scum." Well, whatever the case, he seems hyper vigilant about his own alignment this time. Not to mention still not impressed with the early town reads and his justification for them. I know everyone seems to agree I'm town (which is creepy by the way, I have like 8 posts), but since he was the first to bring it up it still stands out.
I also slightly think he might have seen the mindreaver train happening and took a chance to white knight a little in the event mind gets lynched and flips town so he gets town cred. It wasn't much and I can't remember where in the thread it is but GJ seemed against the mind lynch, which stuck out to me, but correct me if I'm wrong because I'm tired, forgetful, and am just barely comprehending everything.
That said I wanna make it clear I'm still voting GJ and it's not just my RVS that I felt like leaving there.
I really don't have a clue about the other trains or popular scum reads I didn't mention (JoeTerry and Cyan i think? or was it Cythare) they didn't leave an impression on me
I'm also sooort of thinking Shadow and Grape are town, if only cause they comment on gamestate often and i remember them.
Ehm you start with “you misunderstand me” and end with “You’re the one quick to jump on me”.
What is it? Do you believe I am misunderstanding what you said or do you believe I’m looking for something to quickly jump on? Because those two statements don’t mesh.
I’m not sure what that says about your alignment tho.
Misunderstanding someone and jumping on them are not mutually exclusive. Why are you implying they are? At this point it sounds like you're grasping just to argue with me.
I really like Kit so far. @Kit thoughts/past experience on Logic? Not able to really get a feel for him yet, and I'd like your thoughts.
At the time of your post, I feel like he's not super active and pushing to move the game forward. He did point out that one thing but didn't say much about it besides that he thought it was non aligned. (I've played with him in shorter phase games, but never as scum, as he's never been scum).
-after reading more of the thread, I still feel like he isn't as present as usual, but I do think his train of thought is understandable regarding the alignments he's discussed.
Why is no one using their votes in a serious manner?
Voting analysis is gonna be difficult later on if everyone sticks to their RVS vote when RVS is over.
I stayed on GJ because that is who I was most suspicious of as of page 2. I even made a post that mentioned I thought he was susp.
Because this is the 2nd-3rd person who brought up my town reads, Mtgsalvation is jokably slow compared to basically every other site I have played on. ~48 hours in, why is it that hard to believe I have two people as town? It's early day 1, lots of things can change, but the only reason I don't have more is it feels like we are playing with half the deck.
Timeframe doesn't matter as much as content posted in the thread, and there just isn't that much content in the thread (as of when I made the post you quoted). I don't even feel like you have really explained why I'm town, I haven't even done anything.
Regarding your question in 116: Is it common on whatever site you usually frequent that scum have daychat? It's not very common here, so it's sometimes (but not often) a thing to catch scum because they're coaching each other in-thread. Your asking about it, though, gives me good town vibes from you (unless this game has daychat, of course).
Oh wow I hadn't even realized that. Both me and Gruffin are from a site where every game has day chat for scum. If there really is no day chat in this game that sounds like a town slip from Gruffin since I don't feel like she'd have faked not knowing... I honestly was wondering the same thing about why would scum coach in the main thread.
Bur's train didn't feel like anyone pushing for a lynch but that doesn't bean there couldn't be scum on the train.
Hunt and Shadow's interactions does not seem like aligned pair. I get the feeling they're trying to figure one another out. T/T or T/S?
"Figure one another out," if true, inherently means T/T. Do you really feel they're trying to figure one another out, or do you feel one is trying to figure the other out and the other is trying to pocket them/pretend to figure them out?
@Kitbit What do you think of Shadow's post 63 and my observation of it?
Interested to hear your thoughts because you noted his hesitation to townread you.
I didn't see anything wrong with that post in regards to town reading Bur. Maybe cause I somewhat agree. And his reasons were not refuted. Bur asked a hypothetical "What if I told you..." without making his point.
@Kit What do you mean by Shadow's read on you being "practical"?
Assuming Shadow does not know my alignment, it is practical (ie more beneficial, helpful to town) to not assume too fast that I am town (because of the danger of pocketing/town-tunneling a scum). This shows a town/uninformed mindset to me.
I'm feeling slightly town on Bur, on tone. I don't agree with the train reasoning. Could all be town- then it wouldn't make a difference if Bur was scum or town since the voters wouldn't know.
GJ's easy town reads feel suspicious. Shadow's hesitation to agree with a town read on me is more practical. GJ's town read on Bur seems faulty as well as I've stated above. Interested to see a reply to Gruffin's question regarding the voters.
I'm not feeling good about Rhand misinterpreting me but it may not have been scum motive and he hasn't even replied so I'll let it be.
I could go either way with Shadow, but so far I can understand his thought processes.
You're quick to jump on people. I understand the what's suspicious part, but why add the "Your own post is also an RVS post with no vote."? He did vote in his first RVS post.
Sounds like mudslinging to me.
You misunderstand me. I am aware Grape made a vote, and so did almost everyone who had "made posts with no vote" in the thread. I never once said Grape did not vote, nor did I say there was anything scummy about his post. I'm only asking Grape to clarify his statement and offering a counter that he made a non-vote post and therefore it is not necessarily scummy.
If grape was talking about players not voting, he should have said that rather than saying, specifically "posts without votes" but then the only person I saw that posted and did not vote was GJ so I still don't get where he's coming from.
GJ loves to no lynch (or at least has the reputation of loving it). As for the relation to shadow, Huntzilla "caught" shadow with a reaction test based on no voting in Bare Bones before he replaced out. Caught in quotations because Shadow didn't get lynched for ages after that.
Sort of realized that after reading GJ's sig (after I asked). Still like to hear from the 2 I questioned.
I had not noticed you posted right before me earlier. What exactly are you finding suspicious? Your own post is also an RVS post with no vote.
Is there some kind of meta regarding Gentleman Johnny in relation to voting "no lynch"? And Shadow?
@ Hunt- were you trying to incite Shadow? Why? Why did you stop because of GJ?
@ Rhand- would you say not voting no lynch makes GJ more likely to be scum (however slightly) or was your vote purely random to you?
...GJ's icon has become animated and it's even creepier than before...

Also what is "Rband clocking"

Reading the flavor text for this game feels like reading a different language
Vote: Gentleman Johnny
I'm scared of the mask
Are you hiding something behind it?
