Sep 29, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on Neo Cawblade MillI originally ran Alchemy but every time I casted it I was always hoping for a counter, so instead I just replaced them with more counters. Dissipation Field is more useful here because it continually slows down opposing creatures, whereas DOJ only clears the field once. Also I have a couple DOJ in here already..Posted in: FuneralofGod Blog

Sep 28, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on "Junk" Birthing PodThe only reason I don't use the O-Ring is because of the manabase. I like Beast Within better anyway..as the 3/3 is rarely a problem. And the fact that it can hit lands is very important as well, since this deck has some amazing LD potential with the addition of Unburial RitesPosted in: FuneralofGod Blog
The Revoker may be coming out for another Spellskite, but currently I always find something useful for the Revoker. I only side it out against control deck with no swords and no planeswalkers. I take the LD/mana denial route often with this build, and I'll even drop the Revoker naming BOP if they play one -
Sep 21, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on Mill - Block ConstructedI guess the main reason I want the bounce is because its reusable, and the fact that you aren't required to have the spell in your hand + mana open when they cast the creature. Both Grasp of Phantoms and Silent Departure have flashback, and I can even return them with Runic Repetition later. Although I'll probably use Visions of Beyond instead of Think Twice..yeah definitely.Posted in: FuneralofGod Blog

The key against Rock is to go for their Bob. It's low key the power house of the deck. Similar to Thing in the Ice from UR Phoenix. The scariest creature is Thing rather than Phoenix itself.
Jund, GDS, and BG Rock I feel all operate similarly, at least with the way they play against me. Lines of play that generate card advantage are key, and against Rock they have no honest card advantage besides Dark Confidant. We see so much more our deck than them, so long as they don't chain LOTV one after another, I think it's at least a 50/50 match up.
Regarding your Sideboard guide, I feel like you're boarding out TBR way too often. Sometimes it's good to keep just 1, and against some opponents I wouldn't recommend boarding it out at all, such as against Humans. IMHO the only matches where I absolutely want zero TBR is against BGx or GDS. Even against UWx I usually leave 1x because a lot of their removal is Sorcery speed

Looking at all 5 lists that have placed top 8 in the last few weeks, seems like Faithless Looting (albeit as a singleton) is staking its claim as a staple just like in GDS. I've been trying it again in my jund list, but I don't know if I'd run it in 4C just because I hate being pulled in too many directions with color.
I've been living the new mulligan rule on MTGO. Been toying with a more combo oriented list but not quite all-in like Shadow Zoo.

Keeping in my Tron, Affinity, and Dredge - since those seem to be the decks on the rise due to the mulligan change. I like how it feels against Tron, haven't played the other two yet. Won two matches against Phoenix also
Arcanist is an interesting card but likely too slow.
Stephen Snelson back in top 8 (SCG IQ) with a jund list, main deck Surgical Extraction. I really like his Sideboard, including 2 additional Surgical, 3 Anger of the Gods, and even a single Ravenous Trap. Seems to be going all-in for the Dredge match up. list for reference

It seems wild but a deck like this took first in a major tournament about a year ago and I've been toying with the idea ever since
Alternatively, the new Kiora is something I'm considering for my build. CMC 3 Planeswalker that draws a card whenever a 4 power creature ETBs. Also starts with 7 loyalty and has -1: Untap target creature or land. Giving pseudo vigilance or free up mana for counter magic
I really hope it gets printed also, because Sultai is my favorite variation of GBx. Unfortunately Agent is a non-bo with Nissa because you want to be casting Shardless Agent and Nissa is putting it directly onto the battlefield. But still I think Shardless Sultai would be a savage force to be reckoned with in modern. We don't have force of will to pair with it but I think it could still put this archetype on the map.
I keep the one Creeping Tar Pit in there just because I also have Traverse to fetch it. It hasn't been super relevant for me in recent memory but it could be a nice stalemate break against something like Jund or GDS. I don't really have a lot of extra SB tech against Affinity so that might be something I change in the future
I could see myself getting back into this archetype if the mana dork version were more viable. But as it stands, Gut Shot is far too prevalent in the meta game to play Birds or Noble.
Good luck with your list. I like your spicy inclusions, namely: Doom Whisperer, Champion of Wits, Worship out of thy Sideboard
What about Commune with the Gods to help find the namesake enchantment, Or Molten Vortex, Tarmogoyf, etc
