Sep 29, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on Neo Cawblade MillI originally ran Alchemy but every time I casted it I was always hoping for a counter, so instead I just replaced them with more counters. Dissipation Field is more useful here because it continually slows down opposing creatures, whereas DOJ only clears the field once. Also I have a couple DOJ in here already..Posted in: FuneralofGod Blog

Sep 28, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on "Junk" Birthing PodThe only reason I don't use the O-Ring is because of the manabase. I like Beast Within better anyway..as the 3/3 is rarely a problem. And the fact that it can hit lands is very important as well, since this deck has some amazing LD potential with the addition of Unburial RitesPosted in: FuneralofGod Blog
The Revoker may be coming out for another Spellskite, but currently I always find something useful for the Revoker. I only side it out against control deck with no swords and no planeswalkers. I take the LD/mana denial route often with this build, and I'll even drop the Revoker naming BOP if they play one -
Sep 21, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on Mill - Block ConstructedI guess the main reason I want the bounce is because its reusable, and the fact that you aren't required to have the spell in your hand + mana open when they cast the creature. Both Grasp of Phantoms and Silent Departure have flashback, and I can even return them with Runic Repetition later. Although I'll probably use Visions of Beyond instead of Think Twice..yeah definitely.Posted in: FuneralofGod Blog

I feel confident in my Humans and Phoenix match up. Jund and Burn are another story. And Hogaak 2.0 doesn't particularly concern me. I do miss having Surgical in my main board but the addition of W6 has been great

I feel this list might be worse against regular tron but better against Eldrazi tron. And the burn match-up has been unwinnable for me lately regardless of my configuration. Any body else having better luck?

Very impressed with the innovation here as I wouldn't have thought to include Sculler. Also happy to see TBR on the table.
Any thoughts to share?
Alternatively this other pile is great against them:
Which of these piles to go for will depend on the game state. If you have the mana to cast Unburial from hand, then I would go for the first pile as it allows repeatable land destruction. The second pile is less mana intensive and assures you will lobotomize a tron land from their deck.
For my money, I would always play a single Fulminator in the main deck just because it's so good against Tron and UWx. Both decks can be very problematic for Gifts so I like to have an option in game one.
1 Snapcaster Mage
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
1 Iona, Shield of Emeria
1 Unburial Rites
The other colors and overall play style of the deck is really up to you. Obviously Esper colors are required, but you can splash green, red, both, etc. I like playing basically BGx with a light blue and white splash for the Gifts package. But my recent list I've been working on is Mardu with a blue splash. See post #3980 above
No longer running the single Champion of Wits?

The deck can be a little slow and grumbling but I increased the looting to 4x since it's the only card selection I have really outside of some Jace activations. Getting the Sun Titan online with Fulminator is so savage against decks like Tron, Jund, or UWx. Hopefully I have enough raw removal to deal with fast aggro though. I need to play more matches

I'd like to fit a third W6 in somehow but there's just no room.
Lower Bauble and Traverse count means I needed more land so I'm up to 19 now, but I cut 4 slots total (2 each Bauble/Traverse) so I had two flex slots that I'm trying out Dreadhorde Arcanist in. I played a bunch of matches with the Mardu Shadow list over the last week and while I do love them, I'm a BGx player at heart so I'm trying to find ways to improve my current favorite deck using the lessons from Mardu.
While Tarmogoyf certainly misses the consistent 5/6 provided by the full set of Bauble, I think Gurmag is nowhere in the meta right now the 4/5 is usually good enough. I've played about 8 matches with this list so far in practice.
The other big change you may notice is that I switched from basic forest to basic mountain. This is because I'm much heavier on red now. Open to critique here. Thanks

1 Duress
The duress is very experimental. Thinking I can bring it in against UW Control, Tron, and Burn. Three popular archetypes that are worse than 50/50 in my experience. I really would like to test out 1 or 2 Seasoned Pyromancer but I just can't bring myself to commit to a double red spell in this deck.
