Sep 29, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on Neo Cawblade MillI originally ran Alchemy but every time I casted it I was always hoping for a counter, so instead I just replaced them with more counters. Dissipation Field is more useful here because it continually slows down opposing creatures, whereas DOJ only clears the field once. Also I have a couple DOJ in here already..Posted in: FuneralofGod Blog

Sep 28, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on "Junk" Birthing PodThe only reason I don't use the O-Ring is because of the manabase. I like Beast Within better anyway..as the 3/3 is rarely a problem. And the fact that it can hit lands is very important as well, since this deck has some amazing LD potential with the addition of Unburial RitesPosted in: FuneralofGod Blog
The Revoker may be coming out for another Spellskite, but currently I always find something useful for the Revoker. I only side it out against control deck with no swords and no planeswalkers. I take the LD/mana denial route often with this build, and I'll even drop the Revoker naming BOP if they play one -
Sep 21, 2011FuneralofGod posted a message on Mill - Block ConstructedI guess the main reason I want the bounce is because its reusable, and the fact that you aren't required to have the spell in your hand + mana open when they cast the creature. Both Grasp of Phantoms and Silent Departure have flashback, and I can even return them with Runic Repetition later. Although I'll probably use Visions of Beyond instead of Think Twice..yeah definitely.Posted in: FuneralofGod Blog

Izzet charm is an interesting idea if I continue to push those colors (WBUR). I guess a Grixis variant with a white splash could have some merit
Could this be the return of Siege Rhino? I would imagine he holds a sword (or skull) quite well..
Also in wondering what the best equip package is for Junk in modern? And how many SFM?
4 Monastery Mentor
3 Stoneforge Mystic
3 Snapcaster Mage
2 Jace, Vryn's prodigy
Spells (28)
4 Opt
3 Serum Visions
4 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Thoughtseize
4 Force of Negation
1 Spell Snare
4 path to exile
2 Fatal Push
2 Unearth
1 Batterskull
1 Sword of Light and shadow
4 Darkslick Shores
4 Polluted Delta
4 Marsh Flats
1 Watery Grave
1 Godless shrine
1 Hallowed fountain
1 Creeping Tar Pit
2 Island
1 Swamp
1 Plains
This is my first attempt at a modern list. I feel like mentor would play well with Smallpox also but I'm not sure how to configure that just yet.
There's almost too much to include here. Teferi also wants to be here really bad, but I just don't see any room
Demon of Death's Gate does a decent Hogaak impression but you need sac outlets in case of PTE and Settle the Wreckage.
4 Gravecrawler
4 Carrion Feeder
4 Stitcher's Supplier
4 Bloodghast
4 Golgari Thug
4 Vengevine
3 Demon of Death's Gate
2 Lotleth Troll
2 Glowspore Shaman
4 Creeping Chill
4 Cathartic reunion
2 Lightning Axe
Lands (19)
2 Blackcleave cliffs
1 Blooming Marsh
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Bloodstained mire
1 Polluted Delta
2 Blood Crypt
2 Overgrown Tomb
1 Nurturing peatland
2 Swamp
I really like Lazotep Reaver with DDG but it's so weak otherwise that is probably not worth it. I do think that Cathartic is powerful enough to keep us competitive. Especially considering our best turn 1 play is usually stitcher anyway

4 Bloodghast
4 Vengevine

3 Overgrown Tomb
1 Blood crypt
2 Swamp
3 Thoughtseize
3 Assassin's Trophy
2 Rotting Regisaur
2 Darkblast
3 Collective Brutality
2 Shenanigans
DDG does a decent Hogaak impression if we draw it. Not quite as frequent to cast on turn 2 but it can be cast pretty often on turn 3
Urza likely gets much stronger with the addition of SFM.
Tron gets an indirect buff from lack of fast combo decks that kept it in check.
At that point it really just makes more sense to use Urza as your 4-mana spell, seeing as he goes infinite with Thopter + sword
The loss of Looting is crippling for moist Mardu, but I haven't given up on seasoned Pyromancer just yet
My question to you fellas is: do we adopt the SFM package as well?
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Stoneforge Mystic
1 Snapcaster Mage
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
Spells
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Thoughtseize
4 Gifts ungiven

2 Assassin's Trophy
2 Path to exile
1 Abrupt Decay

1 Monastery Mentor
1 Jace, Vryn's prodigy
2 Nihil Spellbomb
1 Life from the Loam
1 Raven's Crime
1 Ghost Quarter
1 Linvala, Keeper of Silence
2 Collective Brutality
I can't help but feel that the Artifact package simply isn't worth it. But I guess only time will tell
4 Gravecrawler
4 Carrion Feeder
4 Stitcher's Supplier
4 Bloodghast
4 Satyr Wayfinder
4 Vengevine
4 Glowspore Shaman
4 Prized Amalgam
4 Creeping Chill
3 Altar of Dementia
3 Unearth
Lands
4 Blooming Marsh
4 Verdant Catacombs
3 Polluted Delta
1 Wooded foothills
3 Overgrown Tomb
2 Swamp
1 Forest
Maybe the crab has a place now also as a strictly sultai version? Would help with hard casting Amalgam when necessary
W6 opens up options like main board Barren Moor and allowing lower land count. It upgrades your Lightning bolt so it can potentially take out Thing in the Ice, TKS or a 3/4 Tarmogoyf. Her ultimate makes Lightning bolt a win condition.
Has anyone tried Vraska, Golgari Queen? I saw David Mines ran one in his MC IV list but in the coverage I watched he only cast it once. She seems powerful and on point with what we're trying to do (with W6, etc)
If/when the meta shifts after the next B&R announcement, I could see possibly playing a Grixis shell with a white splash. But currently PTE is the best spot removal in the format (mainly because of Hogaak & Phoenix)
I've married, bought a house, and had two children since I wrote the original primer so I hardly have the time to update. Your help is greatly appreciated.
That being said, I've been working diligently on a Red/x version that utilizes Seasoned Pyromancer as I feel it's an insane power house in this kind of deck. At the current meta game status, graveyard hate is too pervasive for me to test at the upcoming GP Vegas, but I may try out my list at a few of the side events. Basically my concept is a Mardu control shell with a blue splash for Snap, Jace, and Gifts
3 Seasoned Pyromancer

1 Unburial Rites

1 Liliana, the Last hope
1 Anger of the gods

The Arbor is a sweet trick with Ranger that I hadn't thought of. Personally I would be worried that the Rhinos would get stuck in my hand.
I like your list. Hexdrinker doesn't do it for me but how has it worked for you? Seems like a heavy mana sink that looks horrible when facing a Wrenn and Six, unless you have mana to pump it all the way the same turn you drop it (not likely in this build)
I do really love Faithless Looting and wish I could squeeze a pair into my list. I'm playing in a MCQ this weekend but honestly I'll probably just play Jund Shadow because I'm a lot more familiar with the deck
