I used Tormenting Voice for two FNM's and traded them in after I went 1 - 3 both nights with a loss happening the exact same way you described. This new list is pure gas and I've been doing very well with it.
Can confirm. I just went 4 - 0 against humans, affinity, some -1/-1 GB thing, and E tron.
I lucked out on the E Tron match with 2 turn 1 blood moons followed by turn 2 rabblemaster the second match. First one I grinded him out with hazoret discard behind the bridge burn. Never saw a Chandra in either of the rounds. Pressure and lock is too much for their deck to handle.
Rothgar13 - The simple fact is that I've lost more one land hands than I've won. Taking a one land hand without the perfect amount of gas doesn't help. I also have a lot of land destruction in my meta so taking a one lander is usually suicide.
Thanks for the scenario on the off chance you get a double clifftop Renaud. Tap lands on our first two turns will kill us quick.
Quick question: Why is it the consensus that Inspiring Vantage is better than Clifftop Retreat? It stands to reason that with our current land base, we are always going to have a mountain so it's always going to come in untapped. The only reason I can muster is for the one land hand where Inspiring Vantage comes in untapped but I'll be honest, I have played over 300 games IRL with burn and the times I've received a one land hand worth keeping is less than 10% of all hands drawn. My win percentage of keeping a one land hand is even worse.
I always ran a Bridge centered PW list when not landkilling. With Bridge based Planeswalker control lists you tend to run main deck Leylines. Once you run Chalice you tend to find burn is an easier match, more so with Blood Moons main as the modern Modern versions of Burn use a fair few off color spells that the Moon does work against. Helix and BA also work well, and I always liked Ajani in the PW mix in that type of build which also does well against burn.. Definitely worth considering that Prison can be tuned to beat burn main deck, especially as Nahiri can filter later Leylines. Of course Emrakul does not work with Bridges. The Leylines can be excellent- in the right meta.
Do you have a current deck list posted anywhere that I could take a look at?
Hello fellow prison people, I am currently 22 - 6 with this list on xmage but that's only the last week or so. I have been brewing this for a while with some assistance from online decks and Reddit chats. I have used Pyro Prison (free Win red) for quite some time but I splashed white in this build and my fellow mountain folk accused me of blasphemy. Let me know what you all think as I currently own about 90% of it IRL and I'm highly considering taking the plunge.
I really like your deck but i dont see nahiris and big daddy cool there. I mean, if you are going to play ensnaring bridge you are not going to attack with emrakul, very awkward for me. Big daddy cool is a very bad draw as well. I dont know how you are going to play all your hand to make the bridge work. Its like a lantern control with other type of lock and strategy.
I would play 4x of abrade instead of wrath and anger. The point is that your nahiri can hit emrakul ifyou want to because you are going to destroy the bridge with abrade, it has a good sinergy and if not, you are going to destroy a creature. In addition the side of your opponent is worst against nahiri (no pithing needle, grafdigger, ratchet bomb...)
Thanks so much for your insight. Always great to bounce idea's and see what's best.
The interaction I was going with would be to be patient behind our locks, bring Nahiri, the Harbinger to 10, -8 to bring out big mama, take another turn, +1 Ajani Vengeant on the bridge, -2 Nihiri to get rid of the bridge, chiddy chiddy bang bang, where did your board go?
Topdecking an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn would be dog***** but a quick Nihiri discard gets rid of that little problem and gets you a free shuffle.
Abrade is good for spot removal creature or nasty artifact but I am not playing any creatures so the wraths should be quite good against merfolk, zoo, living end, and prowess which are predominant in my meta and can kill you ultra fast.
Those were my thoughts when I was building it. It's still in the early stages and I'm trying to find the right win-con with the colours that we're working with.
**Edit** now that I typed this out all out, I've noticed that my plan was flawed with the interaction with Ajani as he doesn't tap the artifact, but prevents it from being untapped. That makes it not work with Nihiri's -2 ability. HMMM. Maybe keep around a couple abrade to destroy my bridge when i'm ready to go.
So this may not be appropriate for this forum, but I was wondering if you guys would be willing to help me understand your decks worst nightmare scenarios.
I have a UB Tezzeret deck and Big tron is by far the worst matchup. My sideboard has 3 ceremonious rejection, 2 disdainful stroke and 2 negates and I still got manhandled by a GB tron build today. I don't know if that hate path is correct. I do know the recipie is pressure plus disruption, but what cards have made you feel the saddest?
Tell me all your secrets.
No worries Boomforest. We all want to get better and we all love this game so I don't have an issue disclosing the weaknesses of our deck. I find that Land destruction, Stoney Silence, and steady discard are what get me. I can take a couple IoK or Thoughtseize like the best of them but if you're constantly stripping my hand, I'm going to have a bad time.

Big mountain hugs for Vegitas --- impressive stats --- buuuuuuut, that's a R/W Control deck. For Pyro Prison? A stranger in a strange land.
Thanks Ray, I figured as much. I think I might be feeling how you must felt when you saw "Bloody Humans" and "Free Win Red" and wanted to combine the two to create something new. I feel that a mono coloured deck is too limiting in modern but I love what our deck does to other players and I keep messing with different builds to see what's the best course of action. I'll try shopping it to the RW control thread and keep our discussion here focused on the mono version .
Hello fellow mountain folk, I come back to report some very good news. I am currently 13 - 1 with this list on xmage (only the last couple nights) and I may finally be shifting towards my own version of RW. I find our prison sisters have many good ideas and that we limit ourselves by going the mono red route. Also, there is something special about the salt that Mana Tithe produces. I feel that the RW suite really gives us everything that we are looking for but previous versions never had the bridge and also focused on too much on creature beats and not focused on the lock.
I have been brewing this for a while with some assistance from online decks and Reddit chats. Also, if you feel that the splashing of white makes this deck unwelcome here, that's also understandable and I don't want to step on any toes.
Well, I cheekily like to say that a 'Sideboard Deck' doesn't have a bad matchup It's progressive of us to start recognizing that youthful indestructibility passes into mindful adult conversations. I aggrandize. I know. Yes, U Tron is a bad matchup. Abzan/x [coco/chord] with Spell queller. Yup, that one too. But, Caligula's poker story exemplifies the law of averages - we're still extraordinarily well positioned.
While we're talking about our "bad" matchups..I have a real concern; [c.ard]Solemnity[/card].
Our problems here are two-fold; first of all, this deck looks great. I would go as far as saying it's possibly better than Abzan, even without CoCo, because the double enchantment lock is incredibly tough to deal with for most decks. But we don't care about most decks, we only care about Pyro Prison. So, since I he combo also shuts off Ratchet Bomb.. we have no outs. Zero.
The second concern I have with this combo is, both pieces only cost 1w, so almost anything splashing white could presumably slot it in. Even if the above deck doesn't take off, but other decks run this combo to a point where a considerable chunk of the meta is running it.. we could be in a far less desirable spot.
Bouncing off of this, and this is all speculation under the assumption that this two card combo becomes a thing; we may need to splash a small amount of white or green so that we finally have enchantment removal. I have felt for quite some time that our complete lack of enchantment removal has been our greatest weakness.
**EDIT** - Crazy thought. Splashing white so that we may incorporate this into our own prison and also have access to enchantment removal in the sideboard.

A version of our deck has been highlighted by star city games. Our popularity is growing Mountainfolk and everyone hates it lol
