Hey guys what advice would you give someone who wants to put this deck together but doesn't own any Chalices. Are they essential to the deck or would something like additional hand disruption help out in those match-ups? even if that's not the best solution I'd love to know if its workable

    Hey all,

Going to ask what might be an obvious question but does this deck die with a Mox Opal banning? Whether or not that's likely is up for debate but I'm considering getting into this deck and just wanted your opinions

Hey guys thanks for the feedback, here is my list currently:

    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/30-04-17-4c-gifts-control/

Iona is now in the MB, as well as a Thragtusk for midrange matchups. I understand the mana-base is dodge and that will be something I work towards over time (as well as Liliana's).

Thoughts? suggestions? Love having some experts around to bounce ideas off of.

    Thanks for the advice

I love the idea of this deck and am happy to accept that it will be a long process of upgrading to get it as good as it can be. Liliana and the more expensive fetches will definitely be tr first things to get

    Thanks dude,

Is not running green (just sticking to three colours) a personal choice or is 4C Gifts considered a weaker deck?

This is a Goyf-less (and Liliana-less cuz I'm poor) list I was considering

Is this kind of list still a thing? any advice?

Hey guys just wondering if anyone is currently running a Goyf-less 4C Gifts deck and had a list I could look at? Looking for something as recent as possible

Is this list the same as above?

Hey guys as someone new to the deck what would you point me towards as a 'typical' 4C Gifts Control deck (running Loam/Raven's Crime, Tarmogoyfs, Lili's and such)

Did you have the list you used? For the sake of someone new to the deck?

Ok thanks for the advice, my meta isn't specifically made up of B/G Tron I just had questions about that one specifically as I feel this deck would be comfortable against Elves and Affinity which both of my mates play.

I was also considering other splashes (such as black) to help against faster aggro decks like Infect (obviously keeping it to spells that only require a single black) perhaps you've done testing that would rule this out as an option but I don't know. Or possibly other reanimation targets to help with certain matchups

Either way I feel confident that I'm not going to get bored of winning (or losing) the same way over and over again whilst playing this deck

EDIT: One other question I did have was what cards in the latest list you posted were meta calls (just so I understand the reasoning behind you running them)

Hey all I've been a fan of this deck since I read Corbin Hosler's article on it a while back and was considering putting it together to play. Some questions I did have though include:

How does this deck fair in the current meta? Or more specifically against things like B/G Tron, Lantern, R/W Prison which are prevalent in my area

How much room for innovation does the deck have? I loved the complexity of combos like Grishoalbrand but the thing that turned me off the deck was its lack of interaction and room for creativity

More obviously I want to know if the deck can hold its own. As much as I value enjoying a deck I also want to win.

What cards from the B/R version tend to get cut for Collective Brutality? And what might get cut to make room for Fatal Push?

    Awesome thanks for the advice,

Speaking of safe investments, would I be incorrect in thinking that even if Wizards did cripple the deck with some bannings, the majority of the expensive cards are playable in other formats?

I really enjoy this deck however I don't want to make rookie mistakes when it comes to investing in it.

    Hey folks,

Like Zentakahasi above me I'm thinking about picking up this deck. I'm relatively new to the modern format but this deck interests me with its complexity and flavour.

I'm thinking of putting together Zach Jesse's list from a while ago and had a couple questions for you experienced player's of the deck
    http://articles.mtgcardmarket.com/grishoalbrand-part-1/

First up, is the deck positioned fairly well in the current meta (I'm not looking to Top 8 a GP but I still want to do well)? Do you reckon there's any risk of bans crippling the deck (seeing as Wizards is looking to move towards faster bannings)?
Lastly in all my goldfishing and play-testing I've become familiar with the turn 2/3 wins but could someone explain the nut draw that's required to win on Turn 1 like it's been claimed?

    Thanks
