    Suffering from a really bad onset of depressions, which has been caused by... well, a lot of things.

    It sucks because as hard as I try, I can't really get myself into any of my hobbies or get anything creative out. Which explains the lack of Dracomancer updates

    So yeah, life sucks and here's to hoping it will get better.

    The Codex

    Each individual deck comes with a full deck list and description of how the deck plays. Combos and synergies are included in the descriptions, change logs are not.

    Each deck is built on cockatrice for ease of play with others. Want to play a game or two? My user name on 'trice is also Seth Dracovitch. PM me here or there to plan a game.

    New deck additions will be announced in future blog posts.

    60-Card Casual: These are my random fun decks. Very few restrictions are placed on them, however many have specific themes to keep to.

    EvaSoul Casual: 60-Card Casual decks based around close friends and what they enjoy. Strict themes and lots of restrictions.

    Archenemy: 60-card villain decks for Archenemy. Restrictions based on group play. EDH ARC decks are in the Commander Section

    Two-Headed Giant: Decks built to play specifically with other decks. Restrictions based on team play and group environments.

    Commander: 100 card EDH decks, each with a specific theme. Restrictions based on theme alone.

    60-Card Casual
    =================================
    WWWAngelic Army WWW
    The deck is simply mono white angel tribal. I restricted myself to only modern cards, or cards that saw special print in modern frames. The deck is pretty self explanatory past that.
    =================================
    RRR Dargons! RRR
    Classic mono red dragons. This deck has seen so many changes over the years, mostly due to the addition of non-dragon cards that are dragon related. I tried to keep the non-dragon spells thematic to dragon style. Fun fact, I purposely arranged the creatures by mana cost. perfect 1-8 spread. And yes, the misspelling of dragon is the title is on purpose, inside jokes and what not.
    =================================
    UBU Doom Juggling BUB
    This deck started out as an idea for a friend, but she ended up building a different deck, so I took the project for myself. The idea is simple, use Master Transmuter to create as much shenanigans as possible while maintaining control. Card draw and library stacking ensure you'll get what you need, while you slowly but surely beat them down with fliers.
    =================================
    WBW Unstable Reactor BWB
    This deck was one of the first decks I built when I got back into MTG around Fifth Dawn. Since then it has done nothing but evolve. The idea is simple, Humility + Curse of Death's Hold is creature lock down. Originally it was night of Soul's Betrayal from Kamigawa. Combine that with Darksteel reactor and lots of counter shenanigans, and well there you have it.
    =================================
    RGR Wrath of the Imprisoned GRG
    Simple Eldrazi Aggro. I put a lot of restrictions on this deck to make sure it didn't get out of hand and degenerate. Short of Elixir and the mana base, every single card had to benefit only the Eldrazi somehow. Therefore, lots of spawn cards
    =================================
    RWU I Win With Bad Cards RWU
    This deck really hasn't changed much at all since I first built it. The hilariously bad idea, is to play for of the dragon, and then recur second chance at the end of each of your turns, as much as possible. It creates the absolute worst infinite turn combo in the history of magic.How do you win? The repeated five damage from Form of the dragon.
    =================================
    WRB Walking with Shadowheart WRB
    This is my "pet deck" of sorts and by far one of my favorites. The strategy is simple, to win you very simply control the board state through spells and planeswalkers. In the end you can win through tokens or spell damage.
    =================================
    UWG Psionic Psliver Psmack UWG

    EvaSoul Casual
    =================================
    RBR Christy BRB
    A deck full of sacrifice shenanigans. Sac undying creatures and swing with their newly returned bigger bodies. Use Lyzolda to perpetuate the problem while gaining an advantage.
    =================================
    UGU Emily GUG
    =================================
    UWU Torrie WUW

    Archenemy
    =================================
    BBB Time Drainer BBB
    The deck wins primarily by sticking Temporal Extortion onto Panoptic Mirror. This combined with Wound Reflection makes for total board dominance. Other then that, it's generally just group punishment.

    Due to being busy and stressed I haven't really been able to work on Dracomancer at all lately. No new cards, no Chapter 3.

    Unfortunately it won't be started today either, for today I'm compiling all my current magic decks and giving them a much more in depth page of this blog. The old deck archive will be deleted and a new on put in place.

    Hopefully I'll have time next week for Dracomancer.

    Chapter 2: A World Ablaze
    Song: Animal, by Disturbed

    It had been a little over a day since the arrival of Ruriketh and Mekiah to the plane and they had long since moved on from their original landing point. The small white creature now there squeaked frantically and dug at the spot where Ruriketh had landed, her white leathery wings pulled back so they didn't get in the way while the clawed hands on her front legs raked into the dirt. After realizing that what she sought was not there, she sniffed the air and took off northeast. Launching herself off a rock, the tiny white reptile took to the air, beating her wings for altitude.
    With superior speed in the clouds, it didn't take long for her to find her quarry, from high above she spotted two bipedal figures, one with dark skin and along face, the other with a short face and long hair. Her wings folded and she snapped down towards the ground, breaking off her dive and gliding right over the duo's heads and onto the ground in front of them. Both Ruriketh and Mekiah stepped back and she let out a whine. Ruriketh chuckled and sat down, coaxing the small reptile over to him. She was roughly the size of a toy poodle, only about two feet long not counting her four foot wingspan. Her bright blue eyes stood out against the almost spotless white scales that covered her body. At Ruriketh's offer she happily bounded into his lap and nuzzled his chest. Mekiah smiled and knelt down to get a closer look,

    “It's a dragon... real, albeit tiny and cute, dragon. And it would seem it likes you quite a lot.” Mekiah scratched the spot on the dragon's head between the bony white crests which elicited an almost cat like purr from the small creature. Ruriketh stood up and the dragon used all four legs to scramble up his chest and perch on his shoulder. Mekiah was still staring at the small creature, dumbfounded at its existence.

    “It's a she... and her name is Ryn.” Ruriketh cleared his throat, breaking the silence. Mekiah quirked an eyebrow and looked at Ryn,

    “And you know this... how exactly?” she asked incredulously. Ruriketh motioned for them to keep walking towards the town, which could now be seen in the distance.

    “I dunno, it's weird. When she made that noise on her landing, I understood what it meant. She was telling me her name.” Ryn chirped and snapped at a passing fly, though when she missed she refused to leave Ruriketh's shoulder. Mekiah shrugged and stuffed her hands in her pockets.

    “Well I guess we have another member to accompany us to wherever we're going. I want some answers, as all this is far to strange to just be coincidence. First you fall from the sky, then Wilkas wants to kill us, and now a dragon of all things thinks you're her daddy. And to think, when I woke up yesterday, all I wanted to do was eat and find a job.” She put a hand to her stomach and sighed, “Speaking of eating, neither of us has had anything to eat since you managed to get us here. I hope the people in that town are friendly.”

    The trio walked in silence for some time afterward, Ryn occasionally making a squeak or chirp at something in the area. As the sun began to set, they made it to the outskirts of the town. The town itself was pushed against a set of low lying mountains and was surrounded by a tall stone wall that was easily over fifty feet high. A few minutes of wandering around it, the team discovered an entrance guarded by four human men clad in silver armor, a dirt trail leading from the entrance out into the distance. Judging by its direction and curves, Ruriketh deduced that had they gone a little farther north, they would have crossed the path and probably taken it directly to the village. That clearly didn't matter now, as they had made it regardless.
    The four guards instantly drew their swords and raised their shields. Mekiah took a step back and took a battle stance, she was not a human and they were more focused on her appearance then Ruriketh or Ryn. Ruriketh motioned for her to stand down and Ryn hissed at two guards who finally took notice of her.

    “Who are you and what do you want?” The guard's accent was thick, it almost sounded Irish to Ruriketh. He pointed his sword towards Mekiah and then over to Ryn, “What in Neth's name are these abominations?!” Ruriketh sighed, defusing situations like this was something he utterly hated, even if he was good at it. But given their situation he was unsure if it would even be possible. And to top it all off, both Mekiah and Ryn seemed ready to just brawl it out with the guards.

    “We are not from around here, you can obviously see that. We, ah... we got caught in some kind of magic teleporting accident and ended here. We've been wandering these plains for a little over a day now and are in desperate need of food and shelter.” The four guards looked at each other and spoke in quiet tones. Ruriketh couldn't hear what they were discussing and Mekiah was almost sure it would end poorly. A moment later one of the guards ran into town and the other three went back to brandishing their weapons. The same guard as before waved his sword between Mekiah and Ryn,

    “My friend believes you to be of some kind of great importance to his religion. He has gone into town to find a holy warrior who will judge you. I however am not a man of faith, but of logic. If recent reports are to be believed, that small creature on your shoulder is a dragon. And dragons have not been seen on Belaris in thousands of years! A couple of days ago a fisherman reported of seeing a large serpent in a lake where previously no such creature lived. A couple hours later, word came that a village on the other side of these mountains was burned to the ground by a dragon.”
    “I laughed at first, who wouldn't? Silly fairy tales do not burn down villages and scare fishermen. Then today, word came from the southern forests that strange reptiles began appearing and cultivating the land. And our only post in the forbidden swamps to the west have now reported seeing large black leather-winged creatures oozing green mist. And now today, you show up here with some kind of dog mutant and a small dragon on your shoulder. You my strange man, are in for some trouble if your story is not believed.”

    Ruriketh and Mekiah looked at each other in in astonishment. If the guard was to be believed, dragons started appearing on the plane when the they had landed the other day. With that news and the sudden appearance of Ryn, combined with Ruriketh's sudden ability to understand her, Mekiah grew uneasy and started formulating escape plans. She enjoyed the company of her new found human friend, but if he had been using her this whole time to invade this place, she did not want to be a part of it. Before Ruriketh could form a proper response, the missing guard returned and with him was a tall lady clad in silver armor shrouded in a white cloak.

    “My name is Ashavra, I am a Paladin of Neth and the only Hand of Judgment in Cannek. Usually I would be delighted to be told such a tale that the guard has relayed to me, but the past couple days have been most... taxing. I am at least relieved to see that the guard was telling the truth. Hearing how a some kind of half dog woman and a small dragon accompanied a man in strange clothes was quite a tale.” Ruriketh motioned for Ryn to go to Mekiah, and the small dragon launched off his shoulder and glided onto Mekiah's. He outstretched his arms as a sign of peace and took a step forward. Without warning Ashavra struck, a thin curved sword lashed out from under her cloak and made for Ruriketh's throat. He backpedaled frantically, just missing the blade's killing strike. She pressed forward thrusting the sword forward, unable to move quick enough, Ruriketh reflexively brought an arm up to block the blade. Expecting to feel its sharp edge cut into his skin and sever his arm he closed his eyes and let out a sigh.
    Instead of pain and blood there was a loud clang. Ruriketh opened his eyes to see the blade pressed against his arm, but it wasn't cutting through, in fact in looked like it was cracking. Ashavra backed up with wide eyes and began chanting to herself. Ruriketh tossed off his white jacket, revealing his entire arm covered from fingertips to shoulder in gleaming white scales. At his shoulder, his red t-shirt was ripped from several white spikes jutting from it, and his fingers now ended in claws of the same shade.
    With the reveal of his arm, it hit Mekiah like a ton of bricks. He was a dragon mage. The fire spells from his fight with Wilkas, the scale armoring that had enveloped his fist in the subway, and a again now, Ryn's connection to him and his unusual ability to communicate with her. A smile split her lips, Ruriketh was unaware of his special powers since he had just discovered them, but it was all clear as day now. If dragons were suddenly appearing all over the plane, it was because of him, even if he didn't know it. The other guards stood by and watched Ashavra gape at Ruriketh's new found power and none even tried attack her. Mekiah had an idea, a reckless and dangerous idea that would hone Ruriketh's spellcraft. She folded into the shadows of the grass, vanishing from reality and a moment later appeared behind Ruriketh, visibly startling everyone but herself.

    “If this escalates any further, I want you to test a few things for me. I think you'll figure it out on your own here soon enough, but think about dragons and dragon based attacks and such. Craft your spells carefully and you might win this with a whole new understanding of who you are.” Mekiah folded into his shadow and remained unseen. Ruriketh took what she said to heart and inhaled sharply,

    “I'm not quite sure what I did to provoke you, but I want to try and explain this again. We mean you no harm, even as strange as it looks. As you can see, we possess incredible power and I do not wish to hurt anyone... but I will if I must.” Ashavra chuckled and huffed,

    “You have yet to prove anything to me!” She charged again, but this time Ruriketh was ready. With one blow he knocked the sword from her hand with his dragonscale arm and with his free hand landed a solid hit into the left side of her jaw. Ashavra stumbled back and the guards pressed forward, swords out and shields up. Ruriketh took in another deep breath and with almost inhuman roar, exhaled a torrent of flame on the unsuspecting soldiers, causing them to flee as the faces of their shields began to melt. Back to her senses, Ashavra lunged only to get bashed aside by Ruriketh's scaled forearm. The world went quiet. The guards had retreated to defend the town entrance with their half melted shields, swords trembling in hand. Ashavra lay face down in the grass several feet from where Ruriketh had struck. Mekiah and Ryn were still nowhere to be found.
    From her spot on the ground Ashavra began to giggle, it almost sounded maniacal, and it was nothing like her earlier chuckles. With lightning speed she black flipped to her feet and threw her cloak off, ripping the straps that held her armor together to ribbons. Mekiah appeared from Ruriketh's shadow again, Ryn still perched on her shoulder,

    “Well this can't be good. Look at the guards, they look like they're more scared of her then us now.” It was true, the soldiers that were guarding the town entrance now looked on in fear at their holy warrior who was now only clad in the black leather under armor and she had even undone the front of the tunic, giving her a wild look amongst the carnage of her own tattered armor. She lunged, and this time no one was prepared. Her speed was tenfold and she reached the trio in almost an instant. Mekiah dove out of the way with Ryn flying off in a panic, Ruriketh caught Ashavra's arm in his scaled grip, but undeterred she twisted her body and kicked him hard in the neck. Ruriketh went spiraling back, releasing his grip. Ashavra refused to let up, landing two more spinning kicks to his back before Mekiah was able to get her attention with a flurry of black shadow bolts.
    The insane holy warrior snarled and darted for the lupine, who folded into the shadows of the grass just as she struck, causing the rabid priestess to fly headlong into the dirt. Ryn dove from high above and unleashed a small wave of white fire on Ashavra's fallen form before cresting off and flying high up into the clouds. Ruriketh rose to his feet coughing and wheezing from the rapid blows, watching Mekiah and Ryn tag-team the mad woman. Mekiah folded in and out of shadows, throwing her bolts of dark energy while Ryn swooped down and around, casting spells. He clenched his scaled fist and exhaled a small amount of fire, preparing to charge into the fray and help his comrades.
    A great roar erupted from the mountains behind the village and for a moment the sky turned a bright orange heralding a gust of hot wind. Ryn let out an excited squawk and landed down onto Ruriketh's shoulder from high above restlessly moving and letting loose several excited chirps. Mekiah and Ashavra stopped mid fight and stared towards the mountain, the noise seemingly breaking whatever spell the holy warrior had fallen under. She put a hand to her head and groaned before falling to her knees in weakness. Another roar came from the mountains, but this time it sounded in pain. Ruriketh held his breath, beginning to understand what was happening. Another petrified roar, cut short mid screech. The world stood still for a brief moment as the town, the guards, and the combatants all waited for another roar or sign that the dragon was coming.
    Shambling over the mountains came a form that stunned everyone. It was not the mighty fire breathing dragon that the orange sky and heated gust had alluded to. When it took flight it was clear that whatever it was, it had been a dragon at one point. It was made almost entirely of black bones with only torn shredded bits of scale and muscle hanging off it's body. In the exposed ribcage was a large mass of bright blue energy that seemed to try to escape from the creature itself, its eyes and and mouth emanated the same eerie glow. When it roared, there was no mighty cry like before, only a banshee like wail that sounded like the hollow cry of death. Ruriketh understood what it meant all too well.
    The gift he had been given when coming here was by the dragons, his spells his ability to understand them, everything. Seeing this gross abuse of power before him had made him understand just how important yet how insignificant he really was. What glided through the air as quiet as death itself was not natural, it was created. Someone had killed the mighty beast and enslaved it. But this was not the same dragon they had heard before, no, this abomination had killed that dragon, it was no doubt going to become one of these cruel soulless puppets soon enough. Ashavra yelled for the guards who had been guarding the gates and they hurried over to her, taking up a defensive formation around her. Mekiah folded into the Shadows and reappeared next to Ruriketh, who was shivering uncontrollably.

    “We have to take that thing down Mekiah. Its not right... it... it shouldn't be here, it should not exist.” The guards, Ashavra, and Mekiah were all visibly taken aback at how the sight of such a creature disturbed Ruriketh. The fear in his eyes gave Ashavra and uneasy feeling that maybe, just maybe, his story was true and that this whole fight was for naught. After all, she was taught that everyone has a chance.
    The undead dragon landed at the gates of city, the ground under its skeletal feet froze on contact. Ashavra called for the attack and the guards hesitated, giving the skeletal dracolich all the time it needed. It turned to face the soldiers and their holy warrior, its head and neck seemed to swivel, reminding Mekiah of a mounted gun. Its eyes shined bright and the guards began to turn a pale and sickly blue, their skin started to shimmer as ice formed from within their bodies. Ashavra dove aside and sprinted towards Ruriketh and Mekiah, just as the unholy monstrosity let out another howl, causing the frozen men to shatter.
    Ruriketh was still in a trance, whether it be fear or otherwise, Mekiah realized that he was out of the fight. She turned to Ashavra and shook her head,

    “We need to break whatever spell that thing has put him under, distract it, kill it, whatever it takes.” Ashavra nodded and began weaving patterns in the air with her hands, her eyes glowing a bright gold. She walked toward the dracolich slowly, making the movements faster and faster, the zombie dragon buckled under its own body and howled. Golden chains of mana shot up from the ground and wrapped around the beast, pinning it to the ground. From her position guarding Ruriketh, Mekiah began to fling shadow bolts rapidly at the creature, the energy darts hitting its skeletal frame with little result. The creature let out a deafening screech, shattering the golden chains and knocking the trio to the ground. It lumbered to its feet and turned towards Ashavra, shambling towards her on its skeletal legs, its feet freezing the ground with every step. It towered over her, poised to strike.
    Without warning large ball of flame crashed into the side of the dracolich causing it to stagger over. It turned its icy gaze onto Ruriketh, his hand covered in a mystical fire. It shrieked at the site of him and much to the surprise of everyone Ruriketh roared back. The dracolich hissed and let forth a cone of ice and snow from its maw, only for it to be entirely dispelled by Ryn who dove from the sky casting every manner of spell she could. The tiny what dragon flapped frantically to avoid the dracolich's killer gaze, weaving through and around its tattered wings. Ashavra let out a small cheer and began to chant softly to herself, her eyes once again glowing. Mekiah dipped into the shadows and reappeared under the dracolich, slinging shadow bolts directly into the blue core that seemed to keep the thing alive. It made a painful shriek and Mekiah smiled, she'd struck the right spot. Ryn was soon to follow, scrambling to cling to Mekiah's shoulder as she moved, spitting white fire at the core whenever the lupine Shadowmancer wasn't in the way.
    Ruriketh took a deep breath and closed his eyes. In his mind he imagined the mighty roar and hot wind that had heralded the thing that stood before them. He formed the dragon in his mind, a dragon that was like the mighty fire-breathers of legend, a dragon that was the same size as the monster before them, a dragon that could win. He spread his arms wide and screamed for everyone to get clear before he forced that thought into being, a spell that would summon a dragon to fight for him. Mekiah grabbed Ryn and folded back into the shadows, appearing next to Ashavra who had stopped chanting and stood staring at the dragon mage. Mekiah grabbed her shoulder begging her to move so they didn't get caught in whatever Ruriketh was about to do.
    Reality itself rippled as the leathery winged red dragon forced itself into the world. It roared and immediately charged the dracolich, bashing it away from the city and latched its iron jaws around the lich's neck. In its powerful grip the dragon tried to drag it farther out into the field, but the lich wrenched itself free and took to the sky. Ruriketh's dragon spat half a dozen fireballs at the beast, hitting it only twice, but causing it to fall from the sky. As it landed the mighty dragon lunged and bit down into the blue core, causing the dracolich to let out a deafening shriek of pain before exploding into a swarm of insects. The swarm flew off over the mountains, killing the excitement of Ruriketh's dragon, who was now angrily spitting fire and trying to snatch the bugs out of the air. Under Ruriketh's command, the mighty creature didn't fly after the swarm, but merely faded out of existence.
    Ruriketh fell back onto the ground exhausted. It took an immense amount of both mana and concentration to not only summon the dragon, but keep it under his control long enough to defeat the dracolich. If he was going to end up doing this for a living, it was clear he needed some more training.

    “That was awesome!” Mekiah came bounding over to him with Ryn gliding along side her. She helped him to his feet and Ryn landed on his shoulder, he was shaking again, but not from fear. Ashavra laughed, the two of them had the same stupid grin on their faces.
    “It was Ryn who gave me the idea.” He stammered trying to catch his breath, “I noticed that she would fly high into the sky before doing her spell-bombing runs, which meant that in order for her to gather mana she needed the mana higher in the atmosphere. But whenever I tried to cast a spell, I felt like I was drawing power from her. Then I remembered what you said Mekiah, about learning what I was good at. Then it occurred to me, the scales, the fire, Ryn. I wanted to try and put the final nail in, so I thought of the same energy that I felt from Ryn, and applied it to how you taught me to cast spells. I'll tell ya, I felt like I was going to be ripped in half during that summon...” Ashavra knelt down next to him and extended her hand,

    “Earlier, when we met, I thought that you were the cause of my recent problems, for all of Belaris' recent problems. When we fought, I was almost sure that you were the one, the scale armor, the fire breath. When that thing landed and you froze up, I had my doubts. I still believed you to be the enemy, I guess I just through that thing just took a world of concentration to control. But when I saw the way your friends here fought it, I knew I was wrong. And if part of me wasn't convinced at that, seeing you summon a living dragon to save Cannek, well... not even Neth could have convinced me otherwise. I'm truly sorry for the trouble I caused, and I would like to invite you to come stay with me in Cannek while we sort everything out.” Ruriketh smiled again and shook her hand,
    “I thank you Ashavra. If I may be so bold and foolishly honest, I have no idea what I've become or what's happening. If you would allow me the honor, I would certainly like to try and tell the leader of your town my story and again to you in an attempt to make things right.”

    Xed watched the fight between his dracolich and the intruders through the eyes of one of his bird familiars. As the dracolich was defeated he closed the mental link and smiled beneath his bone mask. The swarm of insects flooded the chamber and reformed into the dracolich in a small open crater in the center of the room. Upon reforming, the undead dragon stretched its wings and then curled up in the crater. The masked wizard walked through the dark halls of the sanctum and into another chamber, this one filled from floor to ceiling with growing green slits. He walked into the center of a large circle, much like the crater from before, but this one was flat and solid, not dug up.
    “It turns out, the final key is a Dracomancer. I don't suppose you knew this?” The room filled with a deep booming voice that came from every corner.

    Yes. Only one who can wield the mighty power we posses can unlock these chains. I assume he fared well against my gift to you?” Xed shifted uncomfortably in his robes,

    “Yes, they defeated the resurrected Frostwyrm.” A booming laugh came from the room and Xed stepped back.

    “Be glad I taught you well, or he might not have returned at all. Now then, if the Dracomancer is here and I have been awakened, it is time to start the requiem and awaken the other four.” Xed folded his arms from beneath his robes and cleared his throat,

    “Requiem? What are you talking about? Four others? I thought you were the only one! What are you hiding dragon!” The voice let out another booming laugh and Xed took another step back.

    “Listen to me Xed, there are many, many things I have not told you because I know of your ambitions. If I spilled everything at once you would do it all out of order and get yourself killed. I have listened to your rants and schemes since long before I was awakened. If you truly want the power you seek, you will listen to me and do it in the exact order I say. Otherwise you will die and I will remain trapped in here forever.” The necromancer grumbled to himself from beneath his mask and let his arms flop to his sides,

    “Fine, now tell me what must be done next, Lord Velnyx.”

    * * * * * *

    It had been three days since Ruriketh and the others had fought off the dracolich and saved Cannek and since then they had been welcomed with open arms. The city was much larger then it appeared and had a vast market and even larger set of farmlands. Mekiah had remarked that its self sustaining abilities were remarkable. They staid in the cathedral, a large manor dedicated to Neth, the god that Ashavra and many of the people worshiped. According to Ashavra, Neth was an ancient serpentine dragon that gave Belaris both humans and dragons. However when the two started to war with each other, Neth sided with humanity and exiled the dragons from the plane. Within the last week dragons had been reappearing at random with a variety of different looks and abilities. While Ashavra believed it to be a hoax for a time, many thought it was Neth, who was angry with the world for some unknown reason.
    Ruriketh had found a sage at the mage's academy to teach him more about magic and the ways of spellcasting so that he could fight less recklessly and not get himself killed. Mekiah and Ryn had found that they could entertain children, who had never seen a lupine or a small friendly dragon before. Ashavra had retrieved her damaged weapons and armor from the field and was suspiciously quiet about the incident where she had gone berserk. Ruriketh had questioned her on it a few times, but she always responded with the same “I will tell you when the time is right.”

    Ruriketh stood at a table pouring over maps, marking spots with an ink pen. He still wore his usual garb of red shirt, black pants, white coat, but his normal clothes had been thrown out in favor of of black leather armor with a red tunic. His prized long white coat had been fixed up and modified with some armor padding to help him in the battlefield. Ashavra walked in wearing simple white clothes and her cloak. She brought him a cup of hot tea and pulled up a chair on the opposite side of the table.

    “Ya know, I understood why you asked for every map in the cathedral, but I'm not sure what it is you're looking for.” She sipped her tea and watched his eyes as they looked up. The man hadn't slept in days. After a nightmare he had on the first night in Cannek he insisted that it was a vision and asked for every map of the plane that the cathedral had. Since then when he wasn't out at the academy training, he spent his time in here or in the washroom. Mekiah and Ryn were both worried sick, and all Ashavra could do was cast the occasional refreshment spell to keep him aware and make sure he was well fed. He pointed at a marking on the map, it was a gray circle with four pillars around it,

    “This... what is this. When I put all the maps together it appears to be in the dead center of the plane, on our continent.” Ashavra stood up and looked at it,

    “Well we don't know what it is exactly. I've never gone out and seen it personally, but it's been there since, well... forever. Scouts say it's like as it is on the map, a large stone disk surrounded by four obelisks. It's covered in strange symbols that no one understands. A lot of us just assume it's a tomb from an ancient civilization. There are many ruins with the same kind of writing all over Belaris, but that structure is only one of its kind. All the others are old buildings and rubble, this little piece here is in total contact, no wear or tear or anything.” Ruriketh used his fingers to draw lines from the small stones to each of the ruin sites marked on the map.

    “I want to go there. As soon as possible.” Ashavra sighed and walked to the other side of the table and sat him down in the chair he refused to sit in.

    “Sit, rest. Mekiah and I will get things together and three of us will take Ryn and head out there first thing tomorrow, ok?” Ruriketh sighed and leaned back.

    “So are you gonna tell me about that berserker incident yet?” Ashavra waved him off and walked out of the room.

    The next day at dawn Mekiah, Ruriketh, and Ashavra were all decked out and ready to go. Ashavra had donned her armor again, Ruriketh wore his upgraded outfit and Mekiah wore the same outfit she always had. Ryn sat on Ruriketh's shoulder and purred happily as they set out. The ruins on the map were directly in the center of the plane, and it turns out that Mekiah and Ruriketh had actually landed near them. Ashavra said it would be about a day's walk and they had brought enough supplies for three days.
    When night fell they decided to set up camp and finish the short trek in the morning. Ruriketh slept for the first time in days and was out cold in minutes with Ryn curled up with him like a puppy. Mekiah leaned against a rock and stared up at the starry sky, while Ashavra kept watch. They decided that they would take shifts and sleep off and on to make sure nothing happened. Both agreed that Ruriketh would not be taking part, as he had finally slept and neither of them wanted to ruin that miracle. Ashavra sat down next to Mekiah and leaned back against the rock.

    “Ya know if the few days you've been here, we really haven't had a chance to just sit and talk. It's been so busy with trying to get you guys settled in and give Ruriketh his information and training and so on. I understand that you weren't exactly well off on your own home world. Ruriketh mentioned that it was a lot like his, and that it was 'more technologically advanced' then Belaris.” Mekiah nodded and stretched,

    “I was homeless, living in a ruined underground building of sorts. I didn't have much going for me at the time, then Ruriketh popped in out of nowhere and everything changed. Believe me, I was scared out of my mind when everything happened. He was different, no humans where I'm from. But there was just something about him that made my mind scream at me to help him. So I did, and I'm glad I did. And now I'm here, where there are only humans, and I'm actually more welcomed then I was on Viirina. You don't have to worry about me fitting in. The people of Cannek seem to like me well enough. Plus I've got you and Ruriketh at my side. What about you? I know it's been kind of taboo, but what did happen with you when you fought us?” Ashavra sighed,

    “If I tell you, you have to tell me whatever I want to know, go it?” Mekiah nodded in agreement and motioned for her to continue. “Well I've always had this... condition since I was little. I don't get angry at practically anything, but when I do I black out. Every time I come to my senses things are broken, people are badly injured or killed, and more then once I've ended up covered head to toe in blood.” Ashavra hugged her legs and Mekiah patted her shoulder comfortingly,

    “Well we're here for you. Even if it means having to beat you into the ground and restrain you.” Ashavra laughed and poked Mekiah's shoulder.

    “Alright, spill it... I want to know...” Mekiah patted her on the shoulder and laid down on her bedroll.

    “Not tonight you don't” She giggled softly and went to sleep.

    When they awoke, Ruriketh was the first ready to head out, much to the amusement of the others. The walk only took a couple hours and the structure was much smaller then Ruriketh had imagined. The four-sided obelisks were only about seven feet high, each side had strange runes carved into them. The disk in the center had diameter of about eight feet and also had the strange runes carved into it. Ruriketh felt the obelisk runes and quirked an eyebrow.

    “That's odd... I can understand these runes.” Ashavra grinned,
    “We have never been able to decipher these before. What do they say? Ruriketh pulled a journal out from his pack and began sketching the structures with an ink pen, labeling each one. Then he scribbled down each side's text in a row and scratched his head.

    “Well if this isn't a puzzle I don't know what is. Each side that faces outward has one word on it, words that could be names. Then each other side has a phrase written on it. But there's no way that the name and phrases match up, it's gibberish.” He started lining each phrase with a number and a letter to mark what side of what obelisk the phrase was on. After a few minutes of writing he smiled.

    “I figured it out! Each name faces outward. The correct phrase that corresponds with that name faces that pillar. So by simply mixing and matching, it's not that hard to figure out. They appear to be names and descriptions. Some of it doesn't make sense still, but I'm thinking that's because I don't truly understand the language. Here, this is what I managed to piece together” He held out the book for the other two to see

    ZAIAH: PREDATOR QUEEN OF THE SKIES

    KENSAI: LAUGHING PUPPET OF THE DEAD

    FEERA: BROODMOTHER OF A THOUSAND ENDINGS

    SYLX: SCOURGE OF FORGOTTEN LANDS

    Ashavra and Mekiah looked at the names for a long time, neither able to come to any conclusion about it,

    “Alright, that does us some good, though we still have no idea who or what they were and why they were so important.” Ashavra ran her hands along the obelisks and looked down, “Wait.. what does the disk say?” The disk seemed to be two disks, one inside the other. Ruriketh sketched it out and wrote down the phrases. After a few minutes he snapped his fingers and jotted down the results.

    “The outside ring, it's some kind of grave marker, but it sounds almost like something on a prison. It reads 'May that which found eternal life in ritual death find solace in an eternity of solitude.' I think something's trapped under here.” He read the runes on the inside disk and his eyes widened. It was another name and description. He turned the notebook to the others.

    VELNYX: OVERLORD OF ETERNITY

    Ashavra looked at the name and the outside inscription. She took out her maps and laid them on the disks. With her fingers she drew lines outward from the spot where they stood,

    “I get it now. Each of these obelisks points directly to a set of ruins... the largest two to the east and west... but the other two don't make sense. The one marked Zaiah, it points to the western continent. Kensai points to the east. Feera points north and Klyx points south. But there are no ruins in those locations on this continent, and the oceans to the north and south have been fully traversed. So unless they're under water or on some secret islands, they're a mystery.” Ruriketh looked at the maps himself and nodded,

    “And there are no ruins at all here save for this... so that means its all underground. Ashavra, what are the climates like across Belaris?”

    “This is the center of the three continents, Vyra. We're pretty much plains and mountains with a rainy season Short of a few coastal towns, Cannek is the only major city. The continent to the west is called Zin, it's almost entirely dense rainforest. Many of Belaris' druids and shamans live there. Nice folk, but they are weary of outsiders. Kria is to the east. It also used to be rainforest, however something happened long before I was born that turned the entire thing into a dead zone. Nothing thrives, all the trees are dead and swamps have taken most of the continent. Nobody goes there anymore unless you're banished or you're crazy. Don't even ask me how we know there are ruins there, these maps have been copied over centuries. Probably the most dangerous place on Belaris.” Ruriketh chuckled,

    “Would ya look at that. The first letters of the continents correspond to the first letters of our tomb names here. Normally, I'd be skeptical and chalk it up to coincidence, but not this time. We need to go to the ruins that you pointed out. Let's head back to Cannek, we have some packing to do.”

    So between struggling to find rent and having my grandfather visit, I've been pretty busy this last week and really haven't had much time to work on anything.

    Anyway, Chapter 2 of Dracomancer is about half done and there are cards coming with it. Hopefully everything will get back into full-swing here in the next day or so.

    So a relative is apparently coming into town and staying with us for about a week. I was unaware of this until very recently, and as such have had to do a lot of major house work and such.

    This means the Dracomancer Set and Chapter 2 are going to be falling behind a bit for a couple of days.

    So this is going into creativity because it deals with the Dracomancer custom set.

    So when it comes picture hosting sites, I use Photobucket. Not because I think it's better then any of the others, or because I like it, but because it has one incredibly useful feature. You see Photobucket has the option to use the same file name for specific files. Whaty this means is that I can upload a photo, delete it, and then reupload it and it will keep the exact same file name. This is useful with custom sets because it allows me to fix card errors without having to do much more then delete it and reupload it. Once it's reuploaded, I just go to the page with said card image, hit refresh and bam up to date version!

    However as of late Photobucket has been taking several hours just to recognize and replace the old image with the updated one. At first I thought it might have been my computer. Cleared my cache, made sure everything was up to date. No luck. Checked on another computer to see if it was just me... nope two other comps saw the outdated versions after the new versions were posted. So then I wondered if it was because of MTGS's server upgrade... nope it was the actual file in Photobucket's servers.

    So from now on, when I post new versions of custom cards for whatever reason (typos, ability changes, etc), I won't actually be pointing it out until several hours or the next day, when Photobucket decides that it's time to show the new version. This means you may see the new versions before I do... if so, there's no need to point it out to me. I made the changes probably the day before.

    This will be just a quick and painless run down of the updates for both the set and the story.

    The Set: Today marked the spoiling of the cycle of mythic dragons. Why did I spoil them all at once? For show really, so people have more to talk about and get interested in. And unless I change some numbers that is THE cycle of mythic dragons. There will be lots more at the rest of the rarities though. Spoils might also slow down some now since that's the last of the premade cards. In other words, I'll be doing both the set and story creation at the same time now. A link to the set can be found HERE

    The Story: Chapter 2 of the story itself SHOULD be up later tonight. If not, the most certainly tomorrow. I was hoping to be on chapter three or four by now, but real life is getting a bit overly complicated. New chapters of the story are posted to the Dracomancer section of this blog and over on my deviantART page.

    As usual, MTGS' posts do not auto format to how I tend to write so please bear with the generally crappy formatting

    EDIT: Several more errors have been fixed.

    Chapter 1:
    Earth and Beyond
    Song: A Poet's Dream by Ra

    Frantic yelling filled the sky along with the columns of smoke that rose from the massive pile up of cars on the bridge over the bay. The worst of the incident came from five cars smashed together against the side of a large fuel tanker, in their haste to stop, the first wedged itself under the tanker, and the rest careened into it. From the wreckage of the small sports car that had wedged itself under the tanker crawled a man with long dark hair, he was bruised and bloody, but alive. His long white coat was torn in various places and the bloodstains from his injuries were coloring it a deep red.
    He stumbled to his feet and across to the opposite side of the bridge, gripping the guardrail tightly. For all the carnage around him, the ocean was still peaceful and calm, its beauty undeterred by the chaos around him. As he looked around him he recognized little. Where was he actually? Why was he here? Where was he even going? As the thoughts combed through his mind faster and faster, panic took hold of him. Who was he? He could not remember. His name, his home, his family, none of it. A sharp hiss came from the tanker and the voices were now screams of sheer panic. None of that mattered. Who was he? With a sudden pop, the tanker and the surrounding cars exploded. Without warning the force sent the man flying over the guardrail several hundred feet down into the sea. As he fell his gaze turned skyward. Who was he? With a deafening roar everything went black.

    * * * * * *

    He sat up quickly and moaned in pain. Where was he now? A hospital? No, it was to cramped and far to dark. It looked liked the inside of a subway car. He was lying on the floor with bandages covering various parts of his arms and legs.

    “So you're finally awake.” The voice was soft and clearly feminine, but it echoed throughout the car. He laid back down and cleared his throat,

    “Where... where am I?” he said coughing. His throat was dry and his head was spinning, but he managed to at least choke out the important question.

    “You're in my home. It's not much, just a couple wrecked subway car in an abandoned station, but it's home none the less.” She finally came into view, around six feet tall, covered in dark gray fur from head to toe and with the head of a wolf. Even more interesting then that was her spiky black hair, each strand tipped with red, three short hoop earrings in each ear, and one on her lower lip. She wore a tight fitting black tank top and black jeans that ended in black metal plated boots. She extended her hand and he eagerly took it. After hauling him to his feet he shakily sat down in one of the seats.

    “You... you are most certainly something different,” he managed to choke out through another coughing fit, “Last thing I remember I was falling off a bridge, and now I'm in the care of a werewolf.” The wolf girl quirked an eyebrow and walked to the other car. A moment later she returned with a bottle of water and handed it the mystery man.

    “Drink this while I tell you what's up. Or at least, what's up from my perspective. It is you my good man who most certainly different. This is Viirina. And I'm not a werewolf or whatever, I'm a Lupine. My name is Mekiah.” The man downed the water bottle hastily and coughed when he was finished,

    “So I'm not on Earth anymore... great.” He stood up again, visibility angry and slammed his fist against the wall of the car.

    “I don't know who I am, I don't know where I am, hell I don't even remember where I'm from, short of a damn name! Who am I! How did I get here?!” Mekiah gently grabbed his hand from it's position on the wall and slowly led it to his side,

    “I don't know how you got here, I really don't. But you've been out cold for an entire day. Yesterday, people were panicking, they were running away, saying that some giant winged thing was falling from the sky. I ran up the stairs to get a look and there was a loud crash. When the dust cleared, you were laying there, not ten feet away from the entrance to my hideout. I took you in before anyone could do you harm. As for your name, well the only thing you said when I found you was 'you're like the ocean' so I don't know what you've been doing.” She sat him back down and plopped down in the seat next to him. He was staring at his hand intensely, like it was missing or on fire.

    “What's the matter? Is your hand ok?” Mekiah shook his shoulder softly, trying to get him out of his trance.

    “When I threw that punch at the wall, I felt something inside me change. It felt like there was water flowing through my veins. Not like blood, not the same feeling. But distinctly different. It was rushing towards my hand and right before the impact I felt my hand change, harden. And now, now I feel it all through my body, subtle, but there.” Mekiah smiled and tried not to laugh,

    “That feeling is magical energy, mana, spellpower, whatever you want to call it. You are a strange one. Never felt the touch of mana, not like any other creature on our little world, so tell me nameless man, what do you remember?”

    “I remember... Earth. Humans, I am human.... we evolved from monkeys, we're pretty much the dominant species on the planet. We have cities and subways too. And there are myths to scare children of rabid wolf men running around during cycles of the moon, killing people... that's where the werewolf comment came from. I'm sorry if I offended you.” This time Mekiah laughed,

    “Oh I am far from offended, I am actually more intrigued then I have ever been. So you're telling me that there is an entire world of you humans that has a society very much like ours. And that by your people's standards I am a monster. And to top it all off, apparently none of you have magical capabilities. Man, your people suck.” They both looked at each other for a moment before sharing a good laugh over the comments.

    “You do however, need a name. You can't remember yours so... any ideas magic boy?” The man sat and looked down solemnly for a long time. Mekiah once again left for the other car and came back with a small thick book, it looked like a dictionary, but he couldn't be sure. She flipped through several pages and them smiled,

    “It was said that when you fell you were not well, human. People were screaming of bat like wings and scales. In ancient times, there were tales of such beasts, called dragons.” the man stood up suddenly and rushed over to her,

    “That is actually startlingly similar to human culture. Tales say that dragons were fought in ancient times, that knights would save princesses from these giant leather-winged beasts.” Mekiah closed the book and tossed it onto a seat,

    “Well that settles it, from now on your name is Ruriketh. It means 'Fallen Dragon' in a long dead language, that I uh... like to study in my spare time.” The man thought it over for some time before smiling and patting Mekiah on the shoulder,

    “Ruriketh it is. Now then, I have a wild theory that might explain how I got here.” He grabbed a door and swung it open, stepping down into the darkness of the open subway. He took a step forward and felt a sudden pain in his arm. With a yelp he dropped to his knees and struggled to look up towards the only lit area, the stairway that lead to the street. In the light stood a tall white lupine with short gray hair. He wore a black tattered dress shirt unbuttoned over a dark gray t-shirt. Ruriketh's first instinct was that he had been shot, but the new comer had no gun in hand, and his wound wasn't even bleeding. The stranger took a step forward and was instantly greeted with several black bolts of energy at his feet. Mekiah steeped out with her arm extended, several more of the energy bolts rotated around her wrist.

    “Wilkas... I thought I told you to never come around here again.” The lupine, Wilkas, let out a laugh that sounded more like a horrid shriek to Ruriketh.

    “Oh but you... but you! It was you that said that if you ever saw me again you would KILL ME ON THE SPOT! But this! Oh look at this, mercy! You showed me! Me of all people, MERCY!” He let out another shrieking laugh and Ruriketh was sound in the thought that Wilkas was off his rocker.

    “Oh how the mighty have fallen! You take in strangers now?! You take in beings that we have no clue about! Freaks that fall from the sky! Falling freak people! Sky freaks! Now Mekiah, what could you be thinking!” Ruriketh stood up, interrupting whatever it was the crazy lupine was about to spit out,

    “You keep calling me a freak, yet here you are, obviously a few cans short of a six-pack, giggling like an idiot. I don't think it's me you need to worry about. I think you should be worried about whatever's going on in that head of yours.” Wilkas took a step forward. Ruriketh extended his hand and took a deep breath, fire was the only thought that passed through his mind. The feeling of rushing water once again flowed through his arms and out through his finger tips rushed a torrent of flame that engulfed the lupine. Wilkas howled in pain for a brief moment before vanishing. Ruriketh blinked for a moment. He hadn't ran up the stairs, or down the subway he had literally poofed out of existence. He exhaled and the remaining flames went out. Turning to Mekiah who was staring slack jawed at the experience he smiled and patted her muzzle, jolting her back to reality.

    “That... that was awesome!” She cheered with joy and hugged him tightly, “How the hell did you know what to do?” Ruriketh laughed,

    “Honestly I had no idea. I just thought about what I wanted to do and tried to apply it to that magic you spoke of earlier. And setting his crazy ass on fire seemed like a good idea.” The two laughed hysterically for a moment, utterly consumed by the sheer power of what had just happened. When he was able to speak clearly again Ruriketh cleared his throat,

    “So he can teleport I assume?” Mekiah nodded and brushed the hair from her eyes,

    “He is skilled at two things, teleportation and kicking you while you're down. He knows a very powerful, but very situational spell that only works when his enemy is worn down. To make it even worse for him, he has to be within melee range, or it won't do jack **** for him. When you went down that first time, it was him trying to use it at range. I guess he figured since you were a new being in the world it was worth a shot. Good job not letting him get close enough to use it to it's full extent. The other good thing is teleporting wears him down, so he can't use it in combat very often”

    “Well teleporting is what my idea is all about, and if it works, well hell maybe I can get...” Ruriketh looked down and sighed, Mekiah put her arm around him,

    “Without a memory you have no home even on your own planet that you know of... that's what's bugging you now, isn't it?” Ruriketh nodded and ran his hands through his hair,

    “Yeah... yeah it is. I remember Earth, I remember what happened, but I don't remember anything else. Hell I dunno where my home on Earth is, let alone where it is in location to the accident I was in that somehow brought me here.” Mekiah smiled and helped him up.

    “Well then I'll go with you. I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm a bit homeless, and being stalked by a crazy guy, so I think I'll take my chances in a place where I'm the only one of my kind. Kinda like the boat you're in now.” Ruriketh smiled,

    “I'd like that, ya know we just met and all, but you're a good friend. Now come on, if this works I'm hoping we won't end up falling from several hundred feet in the air.” Mekiah gave a nervous chuckle at the thought and followed him to the center square of the subway ruins. He took her hand in his and focused on the mana flowing through his body. He took a deep breath and stood quietly for a moment. He exhaled rapidly and huffed.

    “Ok so I have no idea how to do this. Before it was just a simple thought, and I ended up making a barely controllable flamethrower. Now... now I need to get the two of us across space or dimensions or whatever to a specific place on a specific planet.” Mekiah patted his shoulder,

    “Alright, then I will teach you the basics of spellcasting. As you saw before, I'm actually pretty good at it. And plus the basics can be taught with any style of magery.” He sat down and motioned for her to continue.

    “First you have to understand how spellcasting and magic work. The earth is full of what we call mana and it is essential to casting spells. Mana is living energy in all things, living, dead, or inanimate, and flows through the body in many different ways. You take mana from the world around you, land, water, air, it is all charged with mana. When you take in that mana, that is when you get that 'flowing water' feel in your veins. Keep in mind, everyone experiences mana in the body differently, but we're going to keep with the flowing water analogy since it's what you feel.”
    “Harnessing mana is a mental and spiritual act. Earlier when you simply thought of wanting to set Wilkas on fire, you harnessed that mana and shot for that torrent of fire. However it requires more then just harnessing the mana and then thinking of what you want to do with it. You can build spells in your mind and cast them, just remember that each one takes a different degree of mana to cast, and an area can be depleted of mana if you use to much. Don't worry, it isn't gone forever, but it will be temporarily weakened. As I was saying, when you build a spell in your mind it will always take the same amount of mana each time, and the more you cast it, the easier it will be form in your mind until it's not even a thought, you simply harness mana and cast the spell from instinct. Do you follow?”

    Ruriketh nodded and stood up. He imagined a knife made of pure fire in his mind and took a deep breath, feeling the mana flow through him like a stream. With lighting speed he flung his arm out as if he were throwing a dagger, and the bolt of fire leaped from his fingertips and shot into the wall next to the stair case.” Mekiah clapped and giggled,

    “Good! Very good! Now for lesson two. The most important part of spellcasting is to know what you're good at. Not every mage can cast every type of spell. There are some mages who can make entire trees grow in an instant but could never cast that simple little fire dart you just made. Hell I can't even do that. In fact, let's talk about me. I am a Shadowmancer, a shadow mage if you will. I draw mana from the darkness in shadows and turn it into spells of the same type. But let's focus on you for the moment.” Ruriketh nodded and did proceeded to do several warm up stretches, much to Mekiah's amusement.

    “Ok, school's out, let's do this.” He grabbed Mekiah's hand and took a deep breath. In his mind he slowly drew in mana as he formed Earth separate from Viirina, from there he visualized the ocean and the bridge where the accident occurred. He gripped Mekiah's hand tighter and willed them both there. With another deafening roar the two vanished.

    With an unceremonious thud Ruriketh landed on his back with Mekiah lying next to him, there hands still gripped tight. He let go and sat up, instantly feeling the flow of mana through his body. It was much stronger then before and instead of feeling like it was separate from him, it felt strangely in tune with the rest of his body.

    “Well ****. I don't think we're on Earth.” he said slapping the palm of his hand to his forehead. Mekiah sat up and popped her back,

    “The mana feels different here, so this certainly isn't Viirina. Well at least we know one thing. You suck at teleportation.” She laughed and Ruriketh pushed her back down on the ground,

    “If we ever see Wilkas again, remind me to ask him for pointers.” Mekiah got up and hauled Ruriketh to his feet. The pair were in a large open plain with a massive forest off to the south and a smoke trail to the east. Assuming that smoke meant fire, and fire meant people, they set off into the unknown world.

    “Master Xed, the tomb walls are glowing. Is it a sign?” A small man stood in the entrance of a vast open room hat was comprised of a blushing black bone structure, at its center stood a tall figure clad in black and blue robes, his face obscured by a mask of polished bone with two black horns protruding from it. He stood over a pedestal combing through a tome of unimaginable secrets. At the mention of the tomb, he turned around and frantically walked towards the small man.

    “Show me at once.” He spoke, his voice was deep and the mask only made it sound more threatening. The small man lead Xed down a corridor of the same bony material and into another large room like the first. However in this room several vertical slits in the walls, floor, and ceiling were glowing an eerie bright green, as if they were eyes, peering into the world through some other world.

    “Yes, yes... it is time, the final key is here. I will soon know ultimate power!” Xed began to laugh, but it was stifled by a loud crash. He rushed back to the previous chamber, where the smell of burnt hair filed the air. Laying on the toppled remains of the pedestal was a man covered in fur with the head of a dog.

    As promised, a post detailing the setting, characters, and storyline for my new set and, story.

    As per usual, the story is based in my Multiverse not MTG's. There are a few similarities between the two. I will outline them below. While this is in the same universe as all my previous stuff, it is in no way connected to the Shadowheart Chronicles storyline (AKA My block and novel) outside some character designs and names.

    Ascendants= Post Mending Planeswalkers
    The Void= Blind Eternities
    Mana Lines= Aether trails in the void that connect the planes. Also responsible for giving magical energy to the plane.

    These are mostly concept notes as to not spoil too much to soon.

    Plot Overview
    Across the vastness of the Multiverse there exists countless planes with countless unique properties. In one such corner exists three planes oddly positioned in a triangle around each other. The plane of Terra,devoid of spell giving mana lines, Viirina, where evolution has mimicked Terra in bizarre ways, and Belaris, a plane that has seemingly lost a great portion of its own existence.

    On Earth, a planet within Terra, a man survives a terrible accident and awakens a power deep inside him: Ascendancy. In a sub conscious effort to survive he vanishes from the plane and lands on Viirina. On Viirina a Lupine finds a strange man not from her world and most certainly not one of her kind. Curiosity leads her to take him in until he recovers. Upon recovery the man cannot remember his name or his origins, but remembers Earth fondly. After stating that he believes he knows how to leave, the two prepare to traverse the Void, and end up on the wrong plane.

    On Belaris, the two find themselves in a world neither recognize. After some traveling they come to a small town with a large church and meet a knight of the local order, who aids them in trying to find their homes. However since their arrival strange things have begun happening. Reports come in from across the country speaking of winged reptilian creatures of every shape and size. Soon the slow occasional rumor turns into state wide panic as they new creatures seemingly appear from the void itself and start to make the plane their home. Even stranger is their timing, the sightings started the same day as the man and the lupine arrived.

    Elsewhere on the plane a man with a strange mask mixes spell ingredients and prepares for something he has been waiting on for and eternity: the return of the dragons. With help from a strange wolf man he will unlock the secrets of the three worlds and choose whether or not to rule them or outright destroy them. Even worse, he knows the secret keys that are needed to gain ultimate power, and the last one just showed up on Belaris.

    Planes

    Earth: Modern day Earth, the same as our own in every way. Populated by humans and no other sapient race. Home of Ruriketh and is devoid of magic. It plays a central role in the beginning and end of the plot, not so much the middle.

    Viirina: A plane that is almost exactly like modern day earth in every way. Major differences include the use of magic and spells, and all sapient creatures are bipedal humanoids derived from evolutionary paths of other animals (furries, anthros, etc). Home of Mekiah and Wilkas. Important role during the beginning of the story with minor roles throughout the middle and end. Cultures vary from species to species, main roles take place in Castella city, a Lupine (wolf humanoid) control modern era city much like New York city.

    Belaris: A plane with three interlocking continents surrounded by ocean. Outer continents are set east and west, shaped like crescents. Middle continent is a tall oval between them. Only sapient residents are humans. Home of Xed and Ashavra. Belaris is the main stage for the bulk of the story and is central to the plot. Reason for human dominance unknown, most cultures reside within the center continent.

    Characters

    Ruriketh: A male human from the plane where Earth resides. Long straight black hair, golden eyes, fit but not overly buff. First Ascendant from Earth, one of the main heroes, Dracomancer. Spellcaster that specializes in dragon magic of all styles.

    Mekiah: A Lupine from the plane of Viirina. Grey fur, spiky black hair with red tips, golden eyes, athletically built. Though to be the first Viirinian Ascendant, tough this is unknown. One of the main heroes. Specializes in shadow magic and ranged weaponry.

    Ashavra: Human from the plane of Belaris. short blonde hair with streaks of silver, blue eyes, tall and thin. A holy warrior of the dominant religion, specializing in close combat offensive spells and mid range healing spells. One of the main heroes. WARNING: Mental state unstable. Bouts of violent hysteria often occurs in the heat of battle. Remain cautious when around her.

    Xed: Human Ascendant from the plane of Belaris. Tall and thin, green eyes, wears a mask of bone and horns obscuring his facial features. master necrosage, a powerful spellcaster that can sever mana bonds to varying degrees, causing spells to fizzle, reverse, and even be ripped from the caster. Main villain.

    Wilkas: Lupine from the plane of Viirina. Tall, white fur with short grey hair. Specializes in teleportation magic and underhanded melee tactics. In an unknown event he was able to teleport off of Viirina and onto Belaris without becoming an Ascendant. Is the only known being to have traversed the planes without being an Ascendant. Secondary Villain.

    I was originally going to post this last night, however I still had quite a few concepts and ideas to work out. But that's (mostly) done now! Plus at the end there's a way the community can help out if they want!

    I'm starting a new story, and with it I plan on doing a "mega set" for it. Why not a three set block? Because the last three set block I did had a lot of flaws and ended up getting cancelled half way through the third set. Not to mention all the hiatus' and set backs. So new slate new ideas.

    The set is going to have a major focus on dragons, this is because I've been a dragon fanatic since I was little, but for some reason I've never done a story where they play the biggest role of all. That changes now!

    What can you expect to see? Well lots of dragons and dragon related cards across all five colors. The return of the tribal sub type specifically for the dragons. A Dragon tribal PW. AND MOOOOORRRREEE!

    A few things to note before the fun part where you (the readers) can help (if you so choose).

    First, one of the main character is going to be similar to another character in a community set I'm working on. Why is this?

    Well that community set is using a variation of her as a character as well. Only recently have I decided to use her in a lot more things.

    Second, I will be using quite a few "neat" reprints from my older custom block. Why? because there are a few designs I would seriously like to keep around. Such as the dual land cycle. A lot of people really liked the way I did them before, so I figured their popularity merited a reprint status.

    So what about the story? The setting? Well all of that is coming in a blog post tomorrow or the day after. With it will come our heroes.

    How can you help?
    Much like my older block, I will gladly accept card ideas you want to see used in a custom set, especially dragon themed cards.
    BONUS: Good abilities for a dragon tribal Planeswalker.

    Mechanics! I have not even started work on possible mechanics! Just toss them into the comments and I'll see if they can be fit into the world in some way! I need at least two!

    Villains! I'm not gonna lie, I have zero inspiration right now for good villains. Got any kick ass ideas? Toss them into the comments. I need at least two unique bad guys.

    And with that, I am out!

    So with the forum upgrade I finally stopped procrastinating and decided to fix up my blog for future use and set up my profile how I wanted it.

    Since I'll be using it a lot more now I'll go over a few things and get them out of the way.

    Old Blog Entries: All the old entries are deleted and archived in the "uncategorized" section.

    New Categories: With the upheaval I decided to get everything all nice and categorized. They're all pretty self explanatory, so when a a new one pops up on the side, it's just another subdivision.

    Current Blog Plans: I'm going to be using this a lot more often now. Talking about new cards that I like, posts about deck ideas, and even for my creative writing and custom cards.

    I will likely have another post later tonight.
