Feather, the Redeemed states that you exile the card instead of putting it into your graveyard as it resolves. Dreadhorde Arcanist states that if the card would be put into your graveyard this turn, exile it instead.
I attack with Dreadhorde Arcanist, and cast Take Heart from my graveyard targeting the Arcanist.
Since I cast an instant that targets a creature I control, Feather, the Redeemed should then trigger.
So, my question is, would Feather, the Redeemed exile Take Heart to be returned to my hand later, or would Dreadhorde Arcanist exile it permanently?
As it stands, I believe the Arcanist only exiles a card that would go to the graveyard, but Feather doesn't even word it like that, it just gets exiled as it resolves. I think Feather wins out, and this could be an answer to what many people were brainstorming on Feather for. This means that flashback cards basically return to your hand after the flashback instead of being exiled.
Goblin Lyre states on the card that the opponent calls the coin flip, but the oracle text on the gatherer states that you flip the coin, and doesn't mention who calls it (which usually means that you call the result). Who calls the coin flip?
Thanks guys. I'll test it out in Grenzo. Of course it won't be as good, but having any sort of control over the bottom of the library is amazing with Grenzo.
So after I built a Meren of Clan Nel Toth rat EDH deck centered around Rat Colony I ended up using Thrumming Stone in it in order to drop the army of rats into play like any other mass rat deck. Then it occurred to me that the reminder text for Ripple is incomplete. At the very bottom it states that you put the uncast cards on the bottom of your library. Usually, effects like this would specify "in a random order", or "in any order", so I would like to know which is it. See, if it's "in any order" then I could run this in my Grenzo, Dungeon Warden goblin EDH as well, not to Ripple, but to place goblins on the bottom of my library, so that Grenzo, Dungeon Warden can drop them into play.
So if I made Azor's Gateway into a creature somehow and changed its creature type to Human; could I use Moonmist to transform it without having to exile anything?
Ok, so let's say that I control Swirl the Mists with Red as the chosen color. I control Shifting Sky with Red as the chosen color. I used Whim of Volrath to change Eight-and-a-Half-Tails' color in its rules back to White, and used his ability to change most of my creatures into White creatures. Then I use Major Teroh's ability to exile all remaining Red creatures. Would this work due to the most recent layer effect being Eight-and-a-Half-Tails changing my creatures into White creatures?
Thanks for simplifying the rules. Also, since you mentioned transforming cards, does that apply to transform as in the card archetype such as werewolves? What about flipping cards like Jushi Apprentice? Oh, and face down cards from morph, megamorph, and manifest too? Thanks again.
I'm curious to see if Spellseeker can tutor for Beck // Call since the Beck half of the card costs 2. If this works, she is going in my bird tribal. lol
I was at my LGS playing commander when this odd ruling I've never heard about popped up in conversation. Say I had Beguiler of Wills since last turn, my opponent has a Llanowar Elves that he controlled since turn 1, and so I tap Beguiler of Wills to gain control of Llanowar Elves. Can I not then tap that Llanowar Elves for mana? It no longer as summoning sickness I thought, but according to the people at the LGS it regains summoning sickness when it changes control. Learning this makes me question life since my group has always played by the ruling that a creature must exist on the field until it passes through one upkeep to lose summoning sickness and can never regain the status unless it leaves the field and comes back. I just want to make sure that they were right about this for future reference.
Recently I was at my LGS playing commander and I was using my Glissa, the Traitor deck. A board wipe happened, but thankfully I had Scrap Trawler in play...I thought... The people who were there all agreed that I don't get any cards back since I had no cards in my graveyard at the time the board wipe happened. I know that Scrap Trawler's ability would go on the stack for each artifact sent to the graveyard, so I brought that up. They told me that there are several "layers" between a card being destroyed and actually entering the graveyard, so I could only choose artifacts that were already in my graveyard at the time of the board wipe which was none. Anyway, I feel like that was an excuse to stop my deck from going off, and I feel cheated. I just want to make sure who was right, so I can keep that in mind for next time. Oh, and for the record, I had about 5-8 different artifacts of various converted mana costs at the time.

Also, could I change the color word I chose for Swirl the Mists and Shifting Sky by using Mind Bend?
I want to better understand the layering rules for color changing effects.
