What happens when you target Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle with Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi? Will Arixmethes become a 0/0 creature immediately and a 12/12 creature with nine +1/+1 counters later when its five slumber counters are removed?
A closely-related question: What would happen if you targeted Inkmoth Nexus with Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi instead? If you did this first and then activated Inkmoth's ability, would Inkmoth become a 1/1 with nine +1/+1 counters, infect, and flying?
If you activated Inkmoth's ability first, and then targeted it with Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi, does Inkmoth become a 0/0 creature with nine +1/+1 counters, infect, and flying? Would it still be an artifact creature?
Primal Command allows you to choose two of four possible actions to take. One of those targets a creature. Zada, Hedron Grinder's ability allows you to copy a spell for each other creature you control that the spell could target.
With Zada, Hedron Grinder in play, if I cast Primal Command targeting Zada, can I copy the spell for each of my creatures? Or does the modal format on Primal Command cause problems for Zada's ability? If I can copy the spell for each of my creatures, do I have to choose the same modal option for the other creatures that I used when I targeted Zada? Or can I choose different ones?
If I use Lazav, the Multifarious's ability, targeting Mikaeus, the Lunarch which is in my graveyard, what will happen? The X in Lazav's activated ability is a different X from the one in Mikaeus's mana cost. However, in this case, the value of X in Mikaeus' mana cost is taken to be 0 in determining the cost of Lazav's activated ability. Will Lazav, the Multifarious die immediately?
Mysterious Egg and Zagoth Mamba both say, "Whenever this creature mutates..." but neither of them have the mutate keyword with a mutate cost written on them. Perhaps these are cards that you can mutate ONTO using another card that does have the mutate keyword and a mutate cost, and when you do that their ability becomes activated. Is that what this means?
I realize that the un cards are not supported by the comp rules but, if I were to enchant Extremely Slow Zombie with Battle Mastery, what do you think would be the result?
The text on Omnath, Locus of Mana says, "You don't lose unspent green mana as steps and phases end."
The rulings info on Gatherer says, "You can keep green mana in your mana pool indefinitely while Omnath is on the battlefield. That means if you add a green mana to your mana pool during one step or phase, you can spend it during a later step or phase, or even a later turn."
Will Omnath, Locus of Mana keep your green mana available from turn to turn? Even though the text only mentions steps and phases? Does the text on the card imply that you can keep green mana even after your ending phase ends?
I know that a creature is a permanent in play, not a creature card, and I expect that the same applies to lands. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth says, "Each land is a Swamp in addition to its other land types." That doesn't apply to land cards in my library, right? Only lands in play?
Just want to make sure that I'm correctly understanding what you said: The three kobold creatures that I mentioned ARE IN FACT non-token creatures like Ornithopter and Memnite-- because they are magic cards, not because of the zero mana cost.
The reason for my original question is that I'd like to use them with Cloudstone Curio to exploit ETBs, and Curio doesn't work with artifact creatures like Ornithopter and Memnite.
K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth says, "For each B in a cost, you may pay 2 life rather than pay that mana." Crypt Rats says, "X: Crypt Rats deals X damage to each creature and each player. Spend only black mana on X."
Although the mana symbol in Crypt Ratsability isn't B, the ability explicitly says that you can only use black mana to pay for it. Can I use K'rrik to pay Crypt Rat's ability cost?
When an activated ability with an activation cost is copied, do you have to pay the activation cost for the copied ability?
For example, if I use Illusionist's Bracers to copy the activated ability of Fatestitcher, do I have to pay U for the for original tap/untap and another U for the copied tap/untap? Or do I only pay for the original activation?
Suppose that I'm playing Commander against three other opponents and each of them has five creatures in play.
I own a creature with myriad, such as Broodbirth Viper, which is equipped with Kusari-Gama, and Repercussion is in play. I'm trying to figure out how much damage would be dealt to each of my opponents. To make the math simple, let's say that I spend 14 mana on Kusari-gama's first ability, giving Broodbirth Viper a total power of 10.
Assuming that each of my opponents block with one creature, I'd expect that Broodbirth Viper would deal 10 damage to that blocking creature-- and consequently to the other four creatures that each opponent controls. Then, due to Repercussion, each of those five creatures would do 10 damage to the opponent that controls them. That would be 50 damage, total, to that opponent.
What happens, though, if an opponent blocks with more than one creature? Would each additional blocking creature add another 50 damage to the player that controls it, bringing the total damage up to 100?
