In the illusory worlds of Dexmaal, all things are possible for those who know the secret threads of reality and can reweave the images to their choosing. Outside those tantalizing visions, however, there is very little to be optimistic about - Dexmaal is a corrupt and polluted world of overindustrialization ruled only by a complex system of calculated murders and retribution. A few who have the privilege of escaping into the projection-realm secretly plan and hope to reform the "real" Dexmaal.

  • posted a message on We asked 100 mtg players. Top X answers on the board.
I'm assuming that you'll be using online surveys to gather the data? This is the most efficient method that comes to mind.

    • Setting a time limit for the survey would help ensure that people give "impulse" answers to the questions.
    • You would need to make sure that people can't submit the survey more than once (which can be the case with a lot of free online surveys)
    • If the results are automatically collated, then more than 100 people can fill out each survey. The survey software would simply list the results in terms of percentages, which would give you the point values for the answers.

Further, there are several sites on the web that transcribe actual questions from Family Feud, which can serve as great inspiration. Some suggestions below:

    • Name a (power)/(toughness) creature, e.g. "Name a 1/1 creature."
    • Name an instant or sorcery spell that you can cast without paying its mana cost.
    • Name a card that is banned in the Vintage format.
    • Name a professional Magic player.
    • Name a Magic player who has been suspended or banned from tournament play.
    • Name an Aura card.
    • Name a (color) (cardtype) card, e.g. "Name a white sorcery card."
    • Name a card with converted mana cost (number), e.g. "Name a card with converted mana cost 6."
    • Name a card with mana cost (cost), e.g. "Name a card with mana cost 1B."
    • Name a Magic: the Gathering website other than Wizards.com.
    • Name a Magic R&D member other than Richard Garfield or Mark Rosewater.
    • Name a popular card from the current Standard format.
    • Name a land card that produces more than one color of mana.
    • Name a snow card that is not a land.
    • Name a (type) creature card, e.g. "Name a Goblin creature card."
    • Name a card that draws you one or more cards.
    • Name a card that produces token creatures.
    • Name a card that uses counters.
    • Name a card from the Unglued / Unhinged expansions.

That's more or less the solution I was thinking of; it looks like the puzzle needs a disclaimer to state that Kelly doesn't have any other surprises waiting in her library. I suppose I should have rephrased "Win this turn" as well.

    New one:

With a Mycosynth Golem on the battlefield, you were expecting a few big plays from your opponent. Last turn, Kelly made that move: She cast both a Darksteel Colossus and a Platinum Emperion in the same main phase. You saw those big artifacts coming, so they weren’t much of a surprise, but her third play made your jaw drop.

    Armageddon?”

    And so it goes.

So now you’ve got some really huge creatures on your opponent’s side of the board, with only one tiny creature on your side to play defense, and you've got no lands to help fuel a comeback. Fortunately, Staff of Nin gave you two draws at the start of your turn, and one of them turned out to be a Swamp. It’s not optimal, but it’s better than nothing.

Still, you’re not about to give up yet. You think there might be a subtle chink in your opponent's armor, so to speak.

It is the beginning of your first main phase. Win the game this turn.

Kelly is at 8 life, has no cards in her hand, and has 36 cards remaining in her library. She has the following cards in play:

    Boros Signet (tapped)
    Basalt Monolith (tapped)
    Dreamstone Hedron (tapped)
    Mycosynth Golem (tapped)
    Workhorse (with two +1/+1 counters)
    Platinum Emperion
    Darksteel Colossus
    Darksteel Citadel

Kelly has the following relevant cards in her graveyard:

    Myr Retriever
    Goblin Welder
    Cathodion
    Myr Moonvessel

You are at 8 life. You have the following cards in play:

    Salvaging Station
    Staff of Nin
    Serrated Biskelion

    Your cards in hand:

    Reanimate
    Yoke of the Damned
    March of the Machines
    Swamp

You have not yet played a land this turn.

You have the following relevant cards in your graveyard:

    Seat of the Synod
    Springleaf Drum
    Etherium Sculptor
    Vial of Poison
    Voltaic Construct
    Master of Etherium
    Altar of the Brood
    Disciple of the Vault

Iacta is a realm of gamblers, games and wild bets. The richest beings of a hundred planes are invited by the demon-dons to gamble their life's earnings, and even their lives, on games of chance and arena brawls between armies and titanic beings.

Parley — Each player reveals the top card of his or her library. For each nonland card revealed this way, [DO X]. Then each player draws a card.

Bet (To bet, exile the top three cards of your library and name a card type, then choose a card exiled this way at random. You win the bet if the chosen card is of the named type. Then return the exiled cards to the bottom of your library in a random order.)

Creature roulette (When this spell is cast but before it is revealed, target opponent chooses a target creature.)

    Suit card supertype

    Actuarial Homunculus 1U
    Creature - Homunculus (C)
T: Look at top card of your library. You may exile that card.

    Instant (C)
Target creature gains trample until end of turn.
Parley — Each player reveals the top card of his or her library. For each nonland card revealed this way, that creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn. Then each player draws a card.

    Flying
Dealers use them to prevent cheating. Collectors use them to find debtors.

Then return the exiled cards to the bottom of your library in a random order.)

    Rare 1 of 1:

    Territorial Expansion 3G
    Sorcery (R)
Each player reveals the top card of his or her library. Whenever a player reveals a land card in this way, that player may put that card onto the battlefield tapped. Then, if at least one player revealed a land card in this way, you may repeat this process.
Iacta's cities only take up a small portion of its landscape. The rest serve as battlegrounds for beasts left unseen.

    Towering Reputation 3GG
    Sorcery (R)
Until end of turn, target creature gets +3/+3 and gains trample, "When this creature attacks, target creature blocks it this turn if able", and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw that many cards."
"You claim that this isn't a fair match," Vrixmal smiled, "and you would be correct. Sometimes my champions just need someone to play with."

    Morphic Gyre 2G
    Enchantment (R)
Sacrifice Morphic Gyre and a creature: Search your library for a creature card with converted mana cost equal to the sacrificed creature. Put that card onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library.
The cost is high in terms of body and soul, but there is no better way to escape the attentions of the Obiex collectors.
