Nightmare FNM. Went 0-3 against 2 Ponza and 1 Griselbrand reanimator deck. 6/9 games I played tonight, Blood Moon was cast.

Apr 5, 2018I've been off Titanshift for the last couple of months, but will come back to it for FNM this week. Will be running Nguyen's list with a slightly modified sideboard. Wondering about a specific circumstance and how you would play it:Posted in: Big Mana
Let's say it's turn 3. You have 4 lands in play after having played your land this turn. In your hand you have 1 land, 1 farseek, 1 BBE, 1 Titan. Is it better to:
1) Cast BBE and hope it cascades into a ramp spell to enable the turn 4 Titan; or
2) Cast Farseek and ensure the turn 4 Titan.
Option 1 is the more greedy play for sure because you may cascade into Bolt and won't have access to 6 mana on Turn 4. Has a much higher ceiling than Option 2 though.
Of course, the correct play depends on other factors like whether the opponent has a board presence, whether you need to pressure their life total etc. But it is interesting to think about.
Mar 29, 2018I love terminate. I've never run any version of Jund without at least 1 terminate, and even then I felt uneasy with the miser's copy.Posted in: Midrange
I'm on 2 terminate right now alongside a Damnation. Anger doesn't cut it sometimes and double red can be a problem.
Mar 28, 2018Ngyuyen posted his list and sideboard guide here FYI:Posted in: Big Mana
Mar 26, 2018I'll take out the basic mountain for TTV for my modern event tomorrow and report back.Posted in: Midrange
Against burn, it felt super good to be able to fetch without shocking for that innocuous, much-maligned mountain to cast Bolt early though. Even I was surprised, I had thought that its usefulness ended with the Field of Ruin interaction.
EE v Damnation would be meta dependent. There's a rash of GR Eldrazi popping up in my area recently and I can only handle so many turn 2 TKS. I don't see any Bogles locally as well. YMMV.
EE can blow up random irritating enchantments as well.
Mar 26, 2018Jury's still out on that. Notable that most recently-placing lists are playing the Elf, but that may be due to unban hype.Posted in: Big Mana
I've played both lists and prefer the traditional builds with Hour of Promise.
BBE builds do have an additional angle of attack and can hold the ground better. 2 for 1's are good as well.
Don't discount either build, proxy both and see which suits your play style.
Mar 26, 2018Had good results again with the 24 land, 12x 1 CMC spell list. Second 3-0 result in a row.Posted in: Midrange
Beat Affinity 2-0 in both rounds 1 and 2, and Burn 2-1 in round 3.
At this juncture, having early access to cheap kill spells / discard feels integral. I'm quite reluctant to want to move back to the clunkier 25 land builds.
Damnation overperformed for me from the sideboard, wiping out the Affinity players' boards in both post-board games in both rounds. I 4 for 1'ed him on turn 4 despite being on the draw, at 4 life. 2 of those creatures were Etched Champions. Then landed Ooze next turn to lock up the game.
I think that with 6x 1CMC removal, 3x 2CMC removal, Kommand and Pulses backed by Liliana, we don't need Anger in the board to kill little critters. Therefore I used Damnation in its place in view of Eldrazi and Etched Champion. It's a good O ***** button.
Mar 24, 2018Reid needed that Lavaman or Anger real bad. He had two terminates, but those Mantises and Phantasmals were a real PITA. Rosum played to his outs and drew really well though - that turn when he had only a Phantasmal Image left in hand, he untaps and puts vial to 3, proceeds to rip Mantis off the top, and instantly goes in for 6.Posted in: Midrange
Mar 23, 2018It will destroy a fair deck meta. In my over a year of playing this deck, I can count on one hand the number of times I've lost to BGx. I've also only lost to UWx twice in this time.Posted in: Big Mana
What may give you problems in your meta would be Burn, sometimes Tron with the nut draw, and Humans if they get out of 3 toughness too quickly.
The rest you stomp.
Mar 23, 2018Deck ran smooth as butter today. Went 3-0 in FNM in three straight 2-0 games.Posted in: Midrange
Beat Lantern, Ponza, Bant Spirits
I was on the 24 land, 12 1-drop list and I gotta say having an abundance of 1 mana spells felt really good, especially when I got to double spell on turn 3, early and often.
Having the additional push and terminate solves a lot of problems.
Two grudges and an additional Pulse from the side made Lantern easy despite cutting to a single Kommand in the main.
Mar 19, 2018Good to see another Titanshift player in SingaporePosted in: Big Mana
You don't think bolts are needed at all currently? I'm still running 3 at the moment for humans and affinity.
All-in goldfish for the win game 1 is always an elegant solution though.
Mar 16, 2018I ran into a GW taxes deck running maindeck loxodons, maindeck crusaders and sideboard auriok champions. Amused by so much targetted hate at the moment.Posted in: Midrange
Beat him though, Bob drew me into endless varied removal. Golgari charm into Thalia and 2 auriok champions rocked his boat.
