    just found my answer: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/59dj7h/kurkesh_onakke_ancient_and_crewing/

the ability would target the vehicle twice.

kurkesh is copying the ability of an artifact and then choosing a new target. so by crewing the one vehicle copying that crew and then targeting it with a new vehicle wouldn't that work? one crew for 2 vehicles?

I've got a casual depala vehicle deck and I'm looking to switch a few carrds around. saw kurkesh in a bulk pile thought maybe I could abuse that ability. so my question is: if you crew a vehicle (which is an activated ability) could I copy it with kurkesh and activate another vehicle I have on the battlefield?

I hope all the folks that posted in this thread sayin this set was going to suck are eating their sneakers right now! also seems like alot of this set is geared for commander which was my initial thought. wizards knows new players are playing edh and are looking for a boost up in the format.

you guys are nuts, snap is played in sooo many decks, they are literally built around him. he's at my this to hold at bay the amount he gets printed. current owners should be happy that his value won't get demolished. art is waaaay better btw.

Perhaps a second return to Ravnica happens before (or just after) then, and they don't want fetches and shocks in standard. Perhaps that block has a mechanic that is a really good fit for a dual land cycle that they would want to prioritise. If they couldn't print them then, they would likely print a different cycle of enemy duals and so the next opening for Zen fetches would be another two years from then.

I'll have to agree with the prof on this one. chances are dominaria after amonkhet, too many new players started around 2015 and even today the last ravnica set is still cheap. either dominaria are an older set will be visited, there are much more deserving planes than ravnica.

I find it it funny that before people on this forum saw the spoilers they were saying how much this set was gonna suck, that wizards doesn't care about modern so there will be no value. then low and behold , two days into spoilers and people are wetting themselves.

I personally hope now the print run on this product is as high as they speculate so prices stay leveled out and i get a chance to buy 1 or 2 boxes.

Hmm, not seeing it, got my pre-order in.

agreed. all of my decks include at least 4 or 5 cards a piece from the 3 sets (including eternal masters).

it wouldn't be the first time we see 4 colour creatures in standard, nephiliMs did happen. the mana base would have to be right for it to work, then again maybe that's why tezzeret makes aetherium cells as his + ability (I'm assuming it's to help summon his master Mr. bolas). I wouldnt be surprised if there isn't surprised me theme of making or working towards some masterwork (like the pyramids).

Sacrifice 5 creatures and transform land, land transforms into mana generator , tap for 5 mana of any colour

or sacrifice 5 creatures and this land, look in your library put creature on battlefield.

modern lives on in commander , which is what the majority of active parties are playing currently.it's casual but allows you to draw from a huge card pool much like modern. this is probably one of the chief reasons popularity is as high as it is. "modern" isn't a reference to the format but rather the card itself. it is a reference to the card layout and the current history of the new cards.

magic, in there 2013 statement showed rough estimates that revealed atleast 3/4 of their fan base play at home casually, while only 1/4 play at stores and tournaments.

this set will have a great draft environment no doubt about it, but once the dust settles after drafting, those very same players go to work brewing some strange new commander deck to use these cards. This will be the sole deciding factor on which magic chooses the cards for the set, and if they have room they might just throw something in there for the modern format.

magic knows what sells cards, it's commander not modern format.

so far all 3 cards interest me, I'm a new post m15 player and excited to get my hands on domri and the angel. return value worries me little, I'm not trying to be an investor and break even on the box, I wanna crack interesting and exciting cards that I can build and play with, so far I'm happy with what I see.

Locally modern is bought up for commander use. boxes are expensive, you get a bunch of one ofs that typically would be hard to get your hands on. I think this is a perfectly reasonable product when looking at it with commander in mind. I know pretty much all the rares and mythics (aside from karakis) that I pulled are being played in all my commanders. even the Commons and uncommons were nice to get since I didn't play through that time.

my other thought is what about the collectors? is that still a thing in the mtg community? we look at cards for constructon and use but are there people who purely collect?

I think in stead of mm disappearing we might see some rebranding towards commander and having the set usable for that style of play.

there's several ways to gauge the PAPER card business

    1. direct sales : straight from the source to retailer, purchases directly from the company. sales and revenue generated from tournaments and other play that go directly to the head company.

    2. secondary sale : buying and selling of purchased items from and to online sources and store fronts.

financial from what I can tell wotc makes atleast 350+ of revenue directly. it would be nearly impossible to quantify online and retail revenues from the secondary market unless you could realistically take a cross section of reported incomes to the government of a hand full of stores and account for other sales biases.

all this in consideration I figure magic as a game with both revenues parsed together would be well over 400 mill in sales even exceeding 500. other things to consider is foreign exchange rates that devalue some of the revenue. I'd assume thsee number are much greater than that of yugioh, and Pokemon may be a bit closer. this is only taking in account the popularity and sales of the paper cards.

wotc has to pander to 2 separate markets, grade school kids who pick it up and play on their parents dollars, and adults in their 20-30 (this is a huge generalization but sums up the groups fairly well). arguably both groups dollars are valued the same and wotc has to balance their product between being affordable but also generating a revenue. using these variables, the company seems to be making correct decision allowing the company to continuously make profits year over year for atleast the last 5 years.

here's a report wizards put put in 2013 looking over 2012 numbers. these are probably small now compared to recent expansion. pg 15 has the spreadsheet. is there anything for yu gi oh or pokemon?

also another statement from another 2013 article

    Operations

Wizards of the Coast is a subsidiary of games giant Hasbro. Gaming, specifically, contributed some 32% of its parent's fiscal 2013 net sales. The US and Canada, where Wizards of the Coast primarily sells its products, accounted for 48% of Hasbro's sales during the reporting period.

The issue at hand is the support of the trinity: distributors, the lgs, and the players.

The reason things have fallen apart lately is that wizards over printed certain products and under printed others in a completely unpredictable fashion.

What does this mean? That wizards didn't know what players wanted out of magic. This hurts your lgs that needs to sell products with a good margin and leaves distributors with surplus stock that ends up having to go somewhere or languish in a warehouse.

With mm2017 Rumored to have 5x the print run of mm2015 let's hope they didn't fill the set with undesirables.

got a link to this info that explains current print information of sets? or is this speculation ?
