One of the best ccg/tcg/lcg's out there is The Spoils. No joke.
I have played many many paper ccg/lcg's, and IMO The Spoils is the best one..
You mentioned that it is similar to mtg.. and that is true, but only on the surface. You didnt give it enough of a chance if you really think it's similar to MTG.
It IS owned by Dragon Shields (the sleeves) and it takes the best parts of the more popular games and gets rid of the frustrating parts.. plus.. you can play it ONLINE for free as well.

Posted this in another thread.. but it DEF applies here:

I have played every paper ccg/lcg listed in this thread, and The Spoils is the best one..

I find it interesting that you consider the Seed sets weak. I think they are BY FAR more powerful than the base sets. (almost too much of a power creep.)
Either way, the actual rules of Spoils are definately far more simple and far more intuitive than MTG. MTG has over 130+ pages of rules, The Spoils comprehensive rules are only about 35 pages.
I think you might be right though in that the basic rules could be better written.
They have recently put up a demo page with a video (which goes VERY in depth) and a quick start guide. www.thespoils.com/demo
You obviously have NO idea what you are talking about.
Tenacious games released a set in 2007, and then after Arcane tinmen purchased it they almost immediately released a set. A set came out just about 3-4 months ago, and the next set is being previewed now.
There was nationals at every gencon for the past 3 years (both limited and constructed nats)
Just get your facts straight, the game is NOT even close to dead.
Seriously, people need to check out The Spoils... this is one of the best CCG's I have ever played. It is more strategic then these top deck intensive games. CFVG is so luck based it's ridiculous. Magic is pretty luck based too. How many times are people going to lose to their own decks before they release how little control they actually have over the game they play. Pro magic players built The Spoils and it is BY FAR one of the most interactive, strategic, fun games I have ever played. (this is with 18 years of MTG playing and having touched just about every other TCG/CCG/LCG out there!)

It is decent with 2 players but REALLY shines with 4. Either way, it's a game to buy.
