I‘d say both changes play very well into each other and seem to greatly reward knowledge of how to fight meta decks. All in all some nice outlooks for control.

    Just a few points:

    • Ember Hauler does not seem very efficient to me - it does neither have haste nor evasion and the ability needs further mana investment
    • Goblin Wardriver feels more like a budget solution for go-wide versions; for that you might want a lower curve
    • Have you seen Reckless Bushwhacker yet? From what I know, Goblin lists either want to focus on lord effects or whack effects
    • The Goblin King/Blood Moon plan is cute - it usually takes too many turns though, time that could be better spent bringing your opponent down to 0 life

So, perhaps compare some of the other lists in this thread - you will notice 2-3 archetypes. If I am not mistaken, nothing much changed over the last 6-12 months.

I’m not sure if you would want most of your threats to depend on a resolved Karn. It gives you even less threat density and actually putting a threat on the board requires either loads of mana or two consecutive turns without getting disrupted/countered. You can fetch what suits the situation best, but have a very limited follow-up once your threat gets answered since it‘s all one-ofs and needs Academy Ruins to retrieve cards.

Perhaps that‘s painting a black picture, as the above probably fits for all toolbox-versions of U Tron. If I may suggest, I would go with 1-2 Karn and a more or less classic sideboard with it’s selection of answers + Mycosynth Lattice!

True, Stony Silence is symmetrical however, so you would need to have the stronger board before you drop the second piece for the lock. New Karn does not affect your own lands (which would be changed to artifacts by Mycosynth Lattice) and only shuts your opponent out of the game. It even lets you fetch Mycosynth from the sideboard.

Gives us another fun move for 10 mana.

Hey guys I was just wondering if New baby Karn and Mycosynth lattice is a lock that prevents our opp. From using lands and can destroy them?

As far as I know, yes. If that spoiler proves correct, that is.

    [Wall of text without formatting]

So if you can correct me or help me please.
Sorry for the shortcuts but it's quite long to write !

    Thanks for feedback Smile

Excuse me, I am not trying to be an ass, but you are asking people for their time to go through your post and reply to your points.

If you are expecting more than some one-liners, you probably should put a bit of effort into it.

I do hope that this takes some focus off Ancient Stirrings.
„T3 Karn all the time!“ Laughing

Looking forward to the São Paulo and Yokohama results.

Tons of fair decks in the queues, both UWx and BGx, with BG Rock in particular taking almost all the meta share from Jund. That deck is our nemesis right now - very close matchup and I like having additional sideboard cards for it.
Thanks for the writeup! This statement interested me. What additional cards do you like in the SB for it? Your most recent SB guide seemed to have a fairly standard SB; are you talking about the move to 4 Tusk? How do you feel about the mill MU with Ulamog in your SB? What does your SB look like right now?

Also, with all the aggro and midrange decks not playing Path, have you considered moving to 4 Wurmcoil (potentially over 4th Stone)?

What do you guys think about Tarmogoyf in the SB? sicsmoo has it mentioned in his guide.

I currently run a playset in the side, as I like Goyfs very much against anything that tries to deny us mana (UW, BG, ect.), as well as some aggro decks. They also serve as distraction. Since there‘s not much combo around where I play, I took out Thought-Knot Seer to make space. Lately, I‘m even leaning towards having Goyfs instead of Thragtusks and putting TKS back in to lower the curve even further.

    Interesting indeed.

3 Karn Liberated in the side (why would you even play them somewhere between turn 5-7?) and Academy Ruins but not a single Mindslaver in the 75 somehow irritates me.

Please, let‘s not discuss *that* topic again - the conversation gets destructive very fast and nobody seems to gain anything out of it.

As much as I‘d like to see Sylvan Library in Modern, with Ancient Stirrings being criticised whenever some colourless deck does well I‘d seriously doubt that we‘ll get such a toy in green.

That's because drawing stirrings is almost always a good thing for those decks until they have tron online. Drawing into multiple Sylvan Libraries would be brutal assuming your opponent isn't running enchantment hate; 4 life per card is a hefty price in a format where mana bases are largely composed of fetches and shocks. I honestly think it wouldn't only be underpowered in Modern, but underplayed as well. Aside from brews/decks in green with no other source of CA, what current deck would play it and furthermore, what deck would want to play more than 1 - 2 copies max?

I haven't read the comments from Maro, but I'd like to do so if anybody has the link handy. I could certainly see the brand new cards adhering to color pie norms, but knowing a chunk of the set will be ported over from legacy's card pool, I'd be surprised if "conforms to color pie" was a major deciding factor for whether or not those cards were chosen/excluded. WotC announcing MH would include reprints pre-8th ed was the first step toward the sort of "legacy-lite" format folks have described in the past; the extent to which that is true will seemingly depend on how many of these reprints are noteworthy cards in legacy. Aside from gameplay factors, the inclusion of cards like a Sylvan Library would go a long way to ensure MH has perceived value from the get-go. They can re-print all the Counterspells, Daze, etc they'd like for Modern, but dirt-cheap reprints won't sell pack and neither will unproven/untested cards (at least during the early stages when players are still figuring out whats actually relevant). Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted if MH boxes are the same price as a standard set box, but that's unlikely to be the case. Making sure X amount of the reprints are legacy staples with modest-solid value is a sensical business decision that would help to ensure MH sales figures meet expectations; there has to be something among the set of uncertainty that would justify the premium/semi-premium price point of boosters/boxes.

Stirrings is not only a good thing „until“ you have tron online but also after. It lets you dig deep into your library when you‘ve assembled tron but are in desperate need of a threat, which quite occasionally happens to me.

I do agree with your points on why Library could get included, but I‘m rather sceptical about WotC wanting that. Let‘s not forget that Library is not just about card advantage: Coupled with fetchlands, this could give green a strong card selection tool.

Yes I should, but my maindeck is 100% safe. I could put different cards in my SB (like Hurkyl's or Negate) - something to test out. Though Supreme Will seems nice to have especially in combo MU's or Control/Tron. You can either counter their important spells or find a threat if you have other counters available. Hard choice to cut it! And Cyclonic Rift is a card I want to have in my 75 because of the flexibility it grants. [...]

Aren‘t these reasons to put the cards in the mainboard though? If your mainboard is safe already, why would you need them in the side? I don‘t play Supreme Will but, in my opinion, Cyclonic Rift definitely belongs in the mainboard.

My guess is a supplemental set that's Modern legal, because we know there are cards they want to inject into Modern but don't want in Standard, like Counterspell. [...].

Are there any sources for this? Are WotC actually looking for ways to bypass standard because they would like to make certain cards Modern legal?
