Also, I'm not worried about simple grammer mistakes just yet. I'd rather get the story down first so I don't lose it then go back and edit the spelling and grammer. -
Sep 9, 2009Sir Auron25 posted a message on Red White Control-can zendikar make the spanish inquisition a better deckI have to agree with you. Spanish Inquisition, first off, is a great deck that is amazingly good if you know how to play it. I play it myself, and honestly, out of all the decks I have to try to salvage for post rotation, this one I'm the most confidant about.Posted in: legacy dude 345 Blog

Jun 21, 2009Sir Auron25 posted a message on [fnm Report] T2 - 6/19/09It works if you play smart and don't overextend. The Critters don't need to stay around long. Once I gain board control (usually after a sweeper or flashing Cliques to block and kill threats), I am usually set to go. I also hit with Cruel to hit hard and start picking them off with my little critters. Banefire's help finish the job too. If I find my creatures blocking and dying too quickly, I side in Soul Manipulation.Posted in: Sir Auron25's Farplane
This was brought to my attention Friday Night. Apparently, this deck is remarkably similar to a deck that won something in Germany or something. I'm currently looking for the list. -

But, I am having an issue with the MSE Templates for Double faced Planeswalker and Sparkers (Regular double faced cards and the sacrificers work).
Under the console tab, my error states that my magic.mse-game version is out of date, and that version 2012-01-22 is required, yet I cannot seem to find an installer for the current version. Any leads?
I'm going the spike route of Iona, Shield of Emeria...like my playgroup doesn't hate me enough already....
Picked up some novelty sleeves today Got some of those Legion "Wild and Free" sleeves with the kitten on them today. I figured they'd be a perfect fit for my Mayael, the Anima EDH deck. Got the Ultra Pro Grumpy Cat Sleeves for my Thraximundar deck. Then got Karador, Ghost Chieftain some Panda Legion sleeves. While the other two were relevant choices, I must admit, the panda for Karador was not relevant...I just like pandas.
I've decided I'm at that point in my Magic playing career that simple and plain sleeves are boring now. Especially since all I play is EDH. I think I'm turning into the type of person I used to hate. Oh well. I'll have to snap a photo of my new sleeves later for you guys.
I read some of the first two, but never got to read the last one. They were pretty good. The point I was getting at was the negativity from the set and the fact that Kamigawa isn't as much of a fan favorite plane. Especially because it is very different, at least it seems to me, from other blocks.
I concur. Both are very good. Both Modern and Legacy playable. I do love they do cards that are just good all around.
As for the movie, I think its success will relate entirely on the plotline picked. Like, a Kamigawa movie (which seems highly unlikely), even done well would flop. I'd like to see the New Phyrexia block as a story. That could be very good. Play on some survival style movies.
Do we even have any clues as to what it will be yet?
As far as I know, six, unless something changed.
I am kind of liking Champion of Stray Souls for my Karador EDH deck. Having a lot of small creatures with some nice effects, it can potentially swing the board state for me in an instant.
Yeah, that is some seriously sick art. We could use it for this thread, though the way things are shaping up, a new thread doesn't look too promising.
But I'd cut Infest if you want to have the potential for splice value, but cut hideous laughter if your aiming for a more aggressively costed cube.
Thank ye!
As a card, I like it a lot better then Blood Scrivener. I dunno, it might see play in standard. Then again, like I said, I play only EDH anymore, so I can't really judge Standard all that much.
I do wonder if they will make a slip up and give us some ridiculous way to keep untapping and tapping creatures to abuse it. Time will tell.
Mono black Devotion is a thing, so this could be feasible. I would have no qualms attacking with it at all.
Sorry to hear that. Its been a pleasure having you around. Best of luck in your life bud.
On an unrealated note, am I the only one who thinks the Xenagos art for his god card is super awesome. Probably one of the best got arts to date.

I cut some stuff, like Chain Reaction and Snapcaster Mage. Chain Reaction rarely ever got used and Snapcaster was actually a liability from me reusing my spells.
Parallel Lives, when I can protect it, is simpley rediculous.
There is an infinite mana combo with Reiterate and [/card]Mana Gyser[/card]. It will be replaced or added to when I get an extra Rings of Brightheart which will go with Basalt Monolith so I can have two infinite mana combos, which will wok nicely with my X spells. I've been considering an artifact theme to go with it, possibily finding a way to abuse Helvault
Some of the Doctor Who references:
Reality Spasm, Reality Strobe, Devastation Tide: The Cracks in the Universe
Skysrcibbling: The Cracks with the Time Lords on the other side. Even shaped like the crack an everything.
Parallel Thoughts: Pointed out to me by a friend, its kind of like how he started working on the equation to save Gallifrey a very long time ago.
Distorion Wake: Saving Gallifrey...
Oblivion Stone,Bonfire of the Damned, Comet Storm: ...rather than burning it. Oblivion Stone is very similiar already to The Moment.
Isochron Scepter: The Sonic Screwdriver. Always getting me answers, via Ponder, Preordain, Brianstorm, or my favorite, Mystical Tutor.
Reforge the Soul: Regeneration!
Reins of Power, Eternal Dominion: How the Doctor always finds a way to use your strengths against you.
Sakashima: Very Zygon like since it can copy my Legendaries and both exist concurrently.
A bit of a back story: This deck was going to exist as a UR combo deck (in Edh, is there really anything else UR can do aside from combo?). Then, I watched Day of the Doctor and got inspired. Since I am a massive whovian, I said "If I add some burn, I can make it like the War Doctor" and went down that path. The deck had to have some things like Niv Mizzet, Psychosis Crawler, and Ulamog in the deck so I can still be a bit competitive in other circles. But the themes in general are still there.
I still have a stack of about 15+ cards of ideas I want to pursue, so I'll be playing around with it for a very long time.
I should also point out that when posting this, I had trouble getting my spoiler tags to work right. Then I realized I had typed "spoilers'. Thanks River.
Congrats on the engagement!
Bioshock infinite is very good. Very confusing towards the end. I just finished it the other day and I must say, the ending requires you to pay very close attention and pick up the little details. I didn't, since I usually just brush through a game the first time for the story and really get into the details the second time. This time, it didn't work out. I had to google how the ending was interpreted, but once i read what was equivalent to a research paper on Bioshock Infinite, I am good.
I don't like the increased black edges at the bottom but other than that I'm fine with it. I can get used to the font change and I like the anti-counterfeit measure that the holofoil and language label provide.
Good. I got to hand out with the family and friends. Some of my friends were in from out of state, so that was cool. Got a legit 12 foot Fourth Doctor scarf from Doctor Who which I have been sporting in the sub-zero temperatures we've had around here in t e past few days. Got some really cool Doctor Who shot glasses for my 25th birthday.
I laughed really hard at this. I'll fix it.
Looks pretty solid. Though I admit, I am not playing standard at the moment, so I really can't say too much. It definitely looks very solid and looks like something I myself wouldn't mind playing.
The new frames don't bother me all that much. They kind of makes the rest of the cards look like the planeswalker frames. We'll have to see if they change those too or just leave them be.
They would. At one point, I figured out what they would be some sort of cool angel statue card that would flip into some really fast black creature then flip back again.
My deck is based on Melek, Izzet Paragon. Something is so appealing about playing Time Stretch like 8 times for a grand total of 4 mana. I did discover how powerful Parallel Thoughts can be, especially with Thought Reflection and Jace, The Mind Sculptor. THen you recycle it and draw it all an unnecessary amount of times. Win by taking a belligerent amount of turns, drawing a ton of cards, and killing with Psychosis Crawler, or sparking an infinite mana combo and burning the table, or with my secret gem, Laboratory Maniac.
But its time we get this clan active again. I'm not the only one one who hasn't been around. I'll be sending a mass PM to members who haven't posted a lot.
Any Doctor Who fans in here? Reason I ask is, I built a Doctor Who themed EDH deck and I'd love to share it, but if no one here is a fan, it might not make too much sense since some choices aren't exactly optimal so I can make a flavorful deck. That said, my EDH crew is now flooded with new players, so less then optimal is still brutally powerful.
As for Waste Not, probably not. All I play is EDH anymore, with the occasional Modern, and I'm not sure any of my EDH decks focus enough of discard to make it worthwhile. In fact, I am positive. As for Modern though, I have been tossing some ideas around for it. Kudos for its flavor text though. I do enjoy the community getting recognition.
To be honest, when I was brewing some standard ideas, I was turning to a Mono Black deck (and a Grixis deck on the side, as always with me), and I came up with a list pretty similiar to the GP winner. The only main difference was I never thought of Pack Rat. That, and I didn't play as many Mutavault either. Then again, I am also a bad magic player at times.
As for your splash, the blue splash is probably the best bet over the white, I think. It gives you access to some counters and the like if you want. Plus if you play Nightveil Specter, as you probably should be, you'd already have the mana base set up for a side board. Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver is a fanstatic card. It also gives you some access to some powerful cards, like Far/Away and you could also consider switching o ut the Underworld Confessions for a better draw engine....not that they give much to blue for that to even be possible. Soul Ransom is a card you could consider. I know no one plays it, but for some reason, I have a huge liking of this card and advocate it more than I probably should.
Oh, and most importantly, Thassa, God of the Sea could probably be important. Granting you a scry 1 every turn is pretty sweet, and the ability to make a Nightveil Specter or really big Pack Rat or four unblockable to make for a quick ending. Then again, if you play the control game, speed isn't as much of an issue if you have locked it down.
My two cents. Then again, I don't play Standard nearly as much as I used to.
Funny enough, when I realized you replied, I remembered Sadistic Sacrement from your list.
Speaking of results, what do we all think of Mono Black Devotion winning the GP? Its nice to see a Mono Black list winning again. I've been thinking about building a similar thing myself.
I'm guessing G1 vs UW Tron with Eldrazi tends to be a nightmare?
Giant Teddy Bear. No question! That's my vote.
As for me, some of my friends and I have collectively decided to dress as various Doctor incarnations from Doctor Who. I've got the Eleventh Doctor.
