I'm planning on trying the new sarkhan in a mardu shell. I dont have a list yet. With Gideon in play u can turn him into an indestructible dragon and then plus 1 to also give sarkhan indestructible. I think he will also play well with sorin giving all your creatures lifelink. I'm split between a midrange deck with other flyers like Phoenix and angels or a more controlling deck with the sweepers available in those colors.

I think battle at the bridge will help the red match up. It can remove hazoret or glorybringer with enough mana pumped in plus gain a decent chunk of life. It also works incredibly well with a flipped gateway or map as it can just gain a crazy amount of life and try to put the game out of reach. Gifted aetherborn is another anti aggro card seen in a lot of black sideboards.

Has anyone tried this deck since rivals was released? I was playing a BW version but am thinking of switching to mono black or BG. I have found playing Ruin Raider in the raiders wake versions to generate a lot of advantage. Also, Treasure Map helps to fix draws and let's you control the ruin raider triggers. When it flips, it adds 4 mana for when it's time to torment, which has resulted in huge blowouts. What do people think of Ammit Eternal as just a big beat stick?

I think it is a mistake to not play unlicensed disintegration just because you won't have artifacts to take advantage of the damage. It's an instant speed removal that takes out anything without indestructible. It's like playing murder, but is easier to cast in these colors.

The odric doesn't seem to fit as well as it should in the deck since you only have the maulfist and champion with keywords. So most of the time it will be an underpowered 4 drop. I would add Thalia as she is a human with a relevant ability and adds first strike to the available battle keywords. I feel odric goes really well with cards like sigarda or gisela to really give a huge buff to your whole team. Also, he's legendary, so 4 is too many imo

I'm not a big fan of Foreboding Ruins when you can just swap them over to Smoldering Marsh. You only have 7 lands that can be in hand to make the Ruins come in untapped, plus you have to give your opponent information about your hand. Marsh works way better with Evolving Wilds and is generally a better top-deck, so you have 10 lands that can turn it on that you can have played at any time, though it does need 2 hits

I disagree, in divx10's deck I think the split is the more appropriate choice. Smoldering marsh also turns on the foreboding ruins so the total count that can turn them on is up to 9. In a control shell like this, it's more important for the earlier lands (turns 1-4) to come into play untapped in order to be able to cast removal and I'd say that is accomplished much easier with the ruins. As hitting 2 basics by turn 3 or 4 is fairly difficult. Sure, off the top of the deck, Smoldering marsh is a better card but, I think it's far less important to hit untapped on turn 6 than turns 1-4. Especially since mardu vehicles is the current top deck.

I think adding thraben inspector would help the deck, 1 drop human, gets buffed by lieutenant, plus the clue can turn on revolt while drawing you a card.

I think there is a deck here, it just needs more win conditions and a lot of tweaking. I would add black and either remove blue entirely or keep it as just a splash. This could turn into some kind of aristocrats deck with zulaport cutthroat, a cryptolith rites focused deck, or some kind of emerge based deck. Voldaren Pariah and Catacomb Sifter fit great in any kind of swarm deck and you can try to hit decimator of the provinces or deep fiend as finishers.

  • posted a message on Im getting at 2/2 and multiple FNM locations with a werewolf need sideboard advice
Neglected Heirloom - Ashmouth Blade is great at pushing through damage if your werewolves are flipping frequently. Spirit of the Hunt can flash in and help your entire team survive a radiant flames. Assembled Alphas is a decent top end card to close out a game. It looks like you're going the pure aggro route so i would add Breakneck Rider, and Lambholt Pacifist seems like an auto include in every werewolf deck. The heirloom and resurgence helps buff the pacifist to a 4/4 without needing an additional creature. I would cut the number of ulrichs as being a legendary, the card is bad in multiples, and since you're only running 22lands, is not something you want to see that often. I would also cut the forgemasters for the stronger werewolves like pacifist and breakneck rider. Remember that howlpack resurgence and moonlight hunt both activate on wolves and werewolves so adding wolves will not decrease the effectiveness of these cards. I would also reduce the number of waxing moons, as an aggro deck, you want more creatures on the field more often. I think Silverfur Partisan is a good sideboard card and would add it there. Like you said, it doesnt really perform in the maindeck. But against a deck with a lot of single target removal, it is usually at least a 2/2 that leaves behind a 2/2.

I like most of the list but I would cut the voyager as you gain nothing from the energy and the dovin baan as it doesn't really do anything to further your board position. I would say add more gideons, go up to the full playset of reflector mage or sylvan advocate, or add avacyn to the deck. Can't go wrong with Gideon or avacyn.

Soorani's list fixes the issues a lot of the decks posted here have. Too many walkers, and not enough ways to protect them. If you're gonna make a walker deck, you need to include instant speed removal in order to protect them, and creatures that can win the game on their own. GDD represents not only great value, but also a reasonable body with the menace keyword. Oath of chandra is just not a good card and I feel should be cut from everyone's decks. Blessed alliance is not as good as harnessed lightning against copter because it gives them the option to sacrifice something else and since its attacking, it gives them the loot. There are so many good pieces of removal in the Mardu colors that it shouldn't be hard to find a nice combination of them. Grasp, path, and harnessed lighthings feels like must includes and then you can pick a combination of immolating glares, stasis snare, galvanic bombardment, anguished unmaking, unlicensed disintegration, and stasis snare. Just keep in mind what can and can't be hit by GDD if you decide to play that card (blessed alliance won't be able to kill a creature since you don't play GDD at instant speed). Also, running nahiri without good targets for her ult is kind of a waste of a really cool toolbox ability.

Cool deck idea. 18 creatures is really light for this sort of strategy, especially when 12 only have 1 toughness. Equipment and anthem cards like always watching need several creatures to utilize them. It looks like you'll never get through a sylvan advocate or an avacyn. I would try adding lone rider as it benefits from the life gain and is great with a drana on the field. Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim is great in this type of strategy and gives you a sac outlet if you wanna mass drain with cutthroats. Since your creatures are so inefficiently costed being 1/1 for 2 and 2/4 for 4, I would say you have to go as full into the drain synergy as possible.

I think you have to decide between playing a bant creature deck with walker backup like tamiyo, nissa voice, and kiora, or a more midrange/control shell with instants and sorceries to protect your dovin baan and Jace. The bant walkers do not really work together in a strictly pw shell. Also like said above, you need way more walkers for deploy hits to be even close to reliable. Bant humans with tamiyo still has a lot of good weapons, or UW control can fit in the other walkers, but as far as a bant superfriends deck, I don't see it being viable with the current walkers as they all need different kinds of decks to be working.

I really liked the legendary naya deck from last season that used thalia's Lancers and a bunch of one of legendarides to search up. With the rotation of creature nissa and the dragonlords, it just doesn't have the same power or value. The gearhulks are great but they work in a different kind of deck. I switched to a naya control list.

I like the idea of this deck, I was running a similar list that revolved more around metallurgic summonings as a win condition. It turned all of my spells into mulldrifters and shriekmaws with flash which was pretty cool. I see the big upside of playing void shatter, but in this draw go style of deck with limited win conditions, I like the versatility that scatter to the winds gives you with awaken. An extra creature on what should be an open board gives you a reasonable clock. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I feel like Liliana doesn't really fit with this deck, You will almost never use her minus ability, so the game will be about protecting her until she ults, which due to lack of good board sweepers, will be incredibly difficult in the early turns. I think thing in the ice walls aggro just as effectively, while also providing a quasi board sweep and a fast clock. Also, murder is imo just better than essence extractions. You get so many more hits, grasp is so good because 4 seems to be a magic number and extraction just doesn't quite reach. I also personally like ob nixilis over Jace but that might just be my bias. Can't wait to see how this deck looks once aether revolt and that board sweep come out.
