Hello,
I played in the ATL classic today and I did not play a Celestial Colonnade. It is actually supposed to be a Celestial Purge. I plan to do a small write-up in the next couple of days, but if you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

Darth Bunny posted a message on BW Eldrazi ProcessorHey guys, just came back from GP Oakland Modern showdown. Here's my tournament report:Posted in: Midrange
Yeah, no marsh flats, but I didn't even notice. Caves of Koilos might even be better if the eldrazi in Oath are worth running.
No bojuka bog either, as I don't want tap lands screwing up my curve. Plus, bog has literally cost me a mox in the past (couldn't cast a spell in a legacy finals because of the stupid bog), so you won't catch me running it in any deck I play.
My board is set up for tron and the mirror, as I was expecting a lot of eldrazi decks.
Match 1: Tron
G1 - I go turn 1 inquisition and take his sylvan scrying. He rips a map off the top, assembles the Urzatron and gets a Karn down on Turn 3. Wasteland strangler stalls for two turns, but to no avail.
Board In - 2 Stony Silence, 2 Crucible of Worlds, 2 Surgical Extraction, 1 Ghost Quarter, 2 Disenchant; Board Out - 1 Wasteland Stranger, 2 Go For the Throat, 4 Lingering Souls and 2 Expedition Map
G2 - Another turn 1 inquisition and I take his crucible of worlds. He has a terrible hand with treble Urza Power Plant and a Pyroclasm. Turn 2 stony silence shuts off all the artifacts he draws into while Blight Herder beats down.I draw a ghost quarter to answer an Urza's mine, but it's overkill at that point.
G3 - I open turn 1 thoughtseize and take a map from his hand. I land stony silence again and we trade crucibles as I disenchant his while he nature's claim mine. I beat down with Blight Herder and tokens for a couple of turns. He eventually draws into the Urza Tron and casts Wurmcoil Engine, but I have the path for it. A turn later, Oblivion sower comes down and I take double ghost quarter from the top of his deck and nuke his only Urza's Mine and sole green source.
Record: 1-0 (2-1)
Match 2: Infect
G1 - My opening hand contains three removal spells: path, go for the throat, and wasteland stranger. I'm in complete control of the game as I path his Turn 2 Inkmoth Nexus and both his basic lands are in his opening hand. LOL. His mana dork is killed by wasteland stranger as I process his Inkmoth. I play a blight herder and oblivion sower. He's at 10 facing lethal on the board next turn when he swings his other inkmoth and pumps it for 10 exactly. I have no blockers or removal except for the go for the throat.
Anyone see the misplay? I should have go for the throat his mana dork and stolen his first Inkmoth Nexus so that I could block instead of processing it back into the graveyard.
Board In - 2 Disenchant, 1 Damnation; Board Out - 2 Expedition Map, 1 Oblivion Sower
G2 - I'm stuck on 1 caves, 2 ghost quarter, and an eye while blighted agent slowly eats me away. I path his spellskite, but it doesn't stop the beats. I pray for a second black source to cast the damnation in my hand, but he has the spell pierce for it anyway.
Record: 1-1 (2-3)
Match 3: Azaban
G1 - We trade discard and spirit tokens. He draws into two 'goyfs, but they're no match for 2 relics. Oblivion sowers and Blight Herders do him in while a topdeck Liliana can do nothing but sac an eldrazi token.
Board In - 2 Celestial Purge, 1 Damnation; Board Out - 2 Inquisition, 1 Thoughtseize
G2 - We both mull to five. We each have 3 lands and two spells, double thoughtseize for him and double damnation for me. After he reliefs me of my mass removal, I top deck relic and double souls. He tries to race him with 'goyf, but it's the most pathetic 'goyf ever as its always a 0/1 thanks to relic.
Record: 2-1 (4-3)
Match 4: Merfolk, splashing white for stony silence and path.
G1 1 I go turn 1 inquisition, turn 2 path lord, turn 3 path lord, turn 4 lingering souls. He mistakes me for BW tokens until I cast Relic and Blight Herder, processing the two lords I path earlier. Despite my awesome opening, he manages to get double master of waves down with 2 more lords. I GQ my spreading seas land and block several masters (merfolk and elemental lords respectively), but the elemental tokens still do me in.
Board In: 1 Damnation; Board Out: 1 Oblivion Sower
G2 - He goes turn 2 stony silence. I shrug and cast double lingering souls. He negates one, but he can't race 6 spirit tokens while his lords get hit by spot removal.
Board In: 1 Surgical Extraction; Board Out: 1 Expedition Map
G3 - I thoughtseize him turn one and take one of two spreading seas. I answer his master of waves with path and then follow it up with oblivion sower for land. Still, he manages to assemble an army of fish. Ulamog finally shows up, removing a master and a lord. I fetch a vault of the archangel with my sole map, going from 1 life to 13. He concedes.
Record: 3-1 (6-4)
Match 5: Jeskai Control
G1 - I punt this one so hard. Early discard shreds his land and double relic insures that Blight Herders are spawning eldrazi. I leave his snapcaster mages in hand because they're only 2/1 beaters with no graveyard. I put a supreme verdict back into his graveyard while he has 5 lands. He top decks the sixth, flashes back the verdict with a snapcaster, and suddenly all my dudes are dead. He draws a manland and proceeds to beat me with it, racing an oblivion sower. I use eye to fetch Ulamog. Instead of casting Ulamog and removing the manland though, I decide to fetch for vault and attack with oblivion sower, activating vault to gain life. Actually, my opponent paths the sower and suddenly I'm dead. I'm so great at Magic.
Board In: 2 Crucible, 1 Ghost Quarter; Board Out: 1 Vault, 2 Wasteland Stranger
G2 - Honestly, I don't remember this game at all, but I won. Sorry guys.
G3 - He's stuck on two lands while I set up the GQ/Crucible lock with an eldrazi of some sort beating his face in.
Record: 4-1 (8-5)
Match 6: Bogles
G1 - He mulls to five and I discard his only creature on the play. He can't draw another creature before Oblivion Sowers 1, 2, and 3 shred him to pieces.
Board In: 2 Disenchant, 1 Damnation; Board Out: 2 Map, 1 Oblivion Sower
G2 - We both mull to six. The details are hazy right now, but I cast Ulamog and remove two auras attached to his bogle. He has me at 1 life with a bogle and some aura that gives it protection from creatures. I attack with Ulamog, then cast oblivon sower to play almost every land in his deck. I have a ton of mana and if I had a second Ulamog, this match would be over. Alas, we go to G3.
G3 - He mulls to five again and tries to rancor dryad arbor on turn 2. I go for the throat on his drayd in response and he loses two cards. After that, he's trapped on one land while eldrazi finish him.
Record: 5-1 (10-6)
Match 7: U/R Twin
G1 - I race Vendilion Clique and burn after using discard to deprive him of his cantrips. Fortunately, its a race I win even though I'm at 3.
Board In: 2 Disenchant, 1 Surgical Extraction, 2 Celestial Purge; Board Out: 1 Damnation, 1 Oblivion Sower, 2 Wasteland Stranger, 1 Map
G2 - He plays one of the Jaces (I can't remember which version), but he forgets to use it and I attack Jace and send the blue headed freak to the grave. I can't remember what happened clearly, but he gives me a heart attack when I have him at 1 and he refuses to concede, pretending to have the twin combo. He remands a blight herder at one point, but apparently he didn't get the memo that they trigger on cast instead of ETB.
Record: 6-1 (12-6)
Match 8: Jeskai Control
G1: Opponent is late and receives a game loss. Judge tells us to proceed to game 2 without sideboarding.
G2: I mull to six and use discard to relieve him of a path to exile. I cast double relic, expedition map, oblivion sower, and sculpt my manabase until I'm playing eldrazi every turn. He's overwhelmed against this onslaught, especially as I have double GQ to answer his manlands.
Record: 7-1 (14-6)
My record is enough to get into Top 8 and we all split prize tickets rather than endure another potential 3 rounds. I have enough for two boxes of modern masters. Not bad for my first major modern tournament Eager to see what Oath brings to the table! -

PhReSHTinGZ posted a message on BW Eldrazi ProcessorI was worried this deck wasn't going to get anything but this week has been great. Cast trigger is insane but can't block probably means we can't play this but it is worth considering. BTW I'm Matt from the open, been very busy, hope I can add to the convo here.Posted in: Midrange -

Unless we get something cheap that can chump/block fliers.. Lingering Souls is still an amazing card. -

Wildfire393 posted a message on <>Bx Eldrazi ProcessorsSouls is THE reason to play white, as it makes a lot of matchups way better. Infect and Affinity primarily rely on killing us with X/1 fliers, and Souls shuts that down hard.Posted in: Modern Archives -

shadowgripper posted a message on BW Eldrazi ProcessorThat card is really solid. It reuses Wastelands Stranglers. It taps opposing creatures. It exiles token creatures. It removes counters from things (Ooze/Persist) or gets rid of enchantments (Splinter Twin). The card itself isn't a powerhouse but it does offer utility.Posted in: Midrange - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

To me the swingiest cards in this archetype and in previous builds are as follows: Sorin, Solemn Visitor, Declaration in stone, Tidehollow Sculler & Blight Herder. So I've cut Sorin, Blight and Dec and kept Strangler as the only processor.
Reality Smasher as the closer - after a lot of testing with how grindy the deck is, I've come to the choice to put away my blight herders for now and run smashers, there are too many games where a top deck smasher is GG. If a more controlling meta should exist in the near future this will be revisited.
LtLH vs. LotV - With smasher in play and the meta still being very aggressive I've chosen to move in this direction, this is in a similar bucket to smasher vs. herder, where if control was more present I would consider the switch. Her +1 is great right now, and if they do manage to deal with but not path your TKS or smasher being able to recur them is great in addition to digging for a threat, she also pushes card advantage with souls in the deck and her ult just closes games out.
Dec for CoBr #2 - Dec is a great card with a good amount of upside but CoBr's utility has over performed time and time again its only brought out against a few decks in the meta; escalating pitching souls early or late game TS or Iok to get real value is amazing. With the reduction of herder and great experiences so far the second copy was brought in from the board.
Manabase - With what I perceive to be an uptick in Path to Exile post Kaladesh with Abzan over Jund in addition to Bant eldrazi firmly planting its flag and the current composition of the deck I cut 1 basic plains for 1 basic wastes.
Here are the numbers: 15B symbols with an additional 4 for flashing back souls not factored in, 13W symbols & 8C with an additional 3 for activating displacer not factored in. 14B sources of which 11 come into play untapped for T1 disruption a bit low but I'm willing to concede that for vent's strength, 13WC sources, this falls in line with hitting all three colors for 90% on turns 1 & 2 respectively. I also treat fetid and urborg as just a C&B source respectively not factoring in their upside.
I've previously posted about why I swapped the number of TS & IoK.
Sideboard.
Languish - Eldrazi is the only deck where we lose some percentage points but with our removal suite and own smashers, I'm ok with this, I think we will continue to see an uptick in selfless spirit.
Lost Legacy - The fact that its turn 3 instead of 4 is huge; memoricide was ok but a often a turn too slow, this card is going to help our worst match ups [tron, scapeshift] and even using it on yourself against ad naus if they turn 0 leyline to get rid of your own Thoughtseize is a corner case I can see coming up on occasion.
Aven Mindcensor - Again a card that helps our more challenging match ups.
Fragmentize - 1 less and sorcery is ok by me, i'm ok with losing the ability to hit ink and blink in affinity for blowing up map/vial/seas on the draw or leyline on 1 or t2 if we have vent in our opener.
Shaving cage down to 1 - We're already pre-boarded against dredge and while you have to respect their nut draw, I'm ok with Aven Mindcensor picking up points across the board against chord, tron, titanshift & Nahari in its place.

Started the day with an amazing misplay I sat at the wrong table first time in all the years i've played magic dating back to the dark. There was a Steven Doran and myself as the only two Doran's I sat in his seat match one, had a judge come to me confirming i was Mr. Doran....yup....Steven....nope...luckily they were able to fix it, i didn't get dropped or a game or match loss just a very stern warning..I think the GP gods paid it back 5x throughout the course of the weekend with fish.

Round 1 vs Merfolk (2-0), Great OP, he took 4 life for a dismember on displacer even though he had 'swamps' available to him via urborg... MVP: Displacer, Souls & Ghost Quarter
Round 2 vs Affinity (2-1) game one, i kept a more controlling hand on the draw he had an explosive start, Game 2 Displacer, Wasteland relic lock, game three stony silence and dec in stone are sick, talk about flavor win i 3-1'd with dec in stone vs. Ornithopter.
Round 3 vs Elves (1-2) Game one get ranched, game two cage and displacer go the distance, game 3 keep a questionable hand on the draw, 2x temple, gq, urborg, strangler, tks and souls.
Round 4 vs Burn (2-1) lose game 1 with him at 3, game two and three blessed alliance, collective brutality and sorin do work. Turn 2 game 2, CoBr discarding souls and herder to kill his swift spear, take a searing blaze and gain 2, lose 2.
Round 5 vs Kiki Evolution against Jeff Hoogland (2-1) Here is where this diet began to wreak havoc on me, he takes game 1 eventually comboing me out, game 2 displacer and cage do work even after I ghost quarter myself essentially strip mining after i had pitched my second plains to liliana and had both my other basic's on the battlefield, game three i got a liliana ultimate off at 7 and sorin and vents got there in the end, he top decked inferno titan i had damnation at the ready, i was close to 50 life when it ended, throughout the course of the match i would say things like getting a stomping ground or some other nonsense, this diet was kicking my ass. Jeff was a good opponent though even in top deck mode, had a good conversation with him throughout the match. Got some diet coke and coffee in me after that, switched off the lemon water.
Round 6 vs Bant CoCo Spirts (2-0) game one shred his hand, game two one of my favorite plays of the tourney, I have displacer, he had a naked Spell queller he flashed in hes at three life, he goes to path my displacer, i blink his queller to to make him eat his path get a judge call...yup thats how it works, my turn untap with strangler in hand, process the path kill queller and swing in for the win.
Round 7 vs Ad Nauseam (2-0) game one i get a displacer , tidehollow lock with spoils under tidehollow, his draw step i blink tidehollow revealing he has another spoils and grace, i give him spoils taking grace, he tells me hes going to go for it, spoils naming unlife, first card turned over is lightning storm, moving on to game 2 i can smell the leyline in his hand, but my hand is gq, pithing neede and a displacer, godless and TS and something else. T0 he drops leyline and plays a scry land, T1 i play needle naming lightning storm, t2 i play temple and play displacer, t3 i ghost quarter his godless shrine during his draw step, he drew his one plains, and had basic island in hand which he revealed to me. at this point i'm 6-1 and a lock for day 2.
Round 8 vs Merfolk (1-2) Great games overall, game three i'm playing to an out of damnation i have vents and plains in my hand i even mentally tell myself to play the vents...i play the plains, next turn draw damnation, and play it into spell pierce that i knew he had from an earlier TKS.
Round 9 vs Jund (1-2) Game one TKS and Herder with relic get there, game 2 he junds me out, game three is a mulligan to 5, with relic, and i just draw lands and never see a single lingering souls for the whole match.
Losing two in a row of which the merfolk matchup is a bit better than a coin flip and jund is 70/30 in my favor since this deck plays like a better Abzan deck, sucks but thats why the 30% exists, take it in stride and go get some Chipotle (no shell, no rice, no beans).
Day 2
Round 10 vs RG Tron (2-1) Game on on the draw he natural trons and slams karn, we got time so i let him play out his threats to see what kind of build he is on, no use conceding. Game 2, IoK into Sculler into displacer gets there. Game three gets to a point where i have spellskite out he is low on life and i have needle naming Ugin, he's able to kill skite and blow up needle while i'm drawing lands when he casts ugin, he had sanctum out so he grabs ulamog, i was able to GQ one of his power plants earlier, so i need a top deck GQ, tap the top and the GP gods deliver, GQ his other plant on his draw step to keep him off tron, hes at one life, i need a vents soon or a Collective Brutality...the gods deliver again its a collective brutality, mode drain two gain two. MVP Ghost Quarter and Collective Brutality.
Round 11 vs Merfolk (2-0) Game one he lands Kira and while that is a great card displacer is such a great card in general but lets you counter Kira's ability at the cost of tempo. Game two he kept a mutavault / vial hand and i had disenchant and ghost quarter, the match was over quickly.
Round 12 vs Blue Moon (0-2) typically in my testing this is a great matchup, but game 1 i never drew a relic to shut off his snpacaster, even though he was at 3 life, and game 2 i didn't draw a lingering souls, his deck was interesting it had chandra flame caller, batterskull and consecrated sphinx.
Round 13 vs NayaU Kiki Evo CoCo with pestermite and deciver (2-0) Shred his hand and TKS get there, game 2 Cage, Souls and Damnation close it out.
Round 14 vs Merfolk (1-2) Close games all around, at one point I need to stop giving him draw steps and close it I decide to put down Ghost Quarter protection that is keeping his mutavualt at bay and offering blocks if I blow up my 'island' but he doesn't have any island walk so i tap out for blight herder and he draws a island walk lord to close it down. This opponent was kind of a dick game one as i'm clearly tapped out and can't block he goes to attacks and I go no blocks how much, and he shrieks derived information...of course, I then explain I'm just trying to keep life totals appropriate.
Round 15 vs Merfolk (2-1) against Jon Paton, had the pleasure of making his acquaintance in Omaha over wings before he top 8'd with fish last year. The whole match was a blast with a lot of fun banter and just a great feeling in a REL event when both people are genuinely playing for the win but having a blast doing so. At one point i dec in stone two of his Merrow Reejerey. Match ends and I have my first pro point.
Great weekend with great people and made some new friends along the way. Having a sideboard guide was huge and I recommend anyone that is going to be in a long tourney do the same as you only have so much energy to spend and its better spent in game than figuring out the old cliche of "take the bad cards out put the good cards in" that was a huge help during the weekend.

Appreciate it Lantern and yes I don't mind changing the focus of this build with out eye, a new image will be coming down the pipeline and updates accordingly in the not too distant future now that this deck is primed for tier 1 goodness.

When using GQ or Surgical often try to hold off until their draw step when they've passed priority. For example against Tron most lists run 1 some times 2 forests IF you GQ in their draw step there is a possibly of them getting strip mine'd. Similar with surgical extraction if you're going to take something if possible wait until their draw step to possibly nullify that draw.

Interesting choices in this list; running 2 MD spellskites, upping the hand disruption to 6 MD 4 IoK / 2 TS, his manabase opting for 4 MD ghost quarter and a cavern of souls in addition to a previously discussed Vault of the archangel.
If you haven't had the chance to watch Magus of the Moon stream over on twitch I strongly encourage you too its a great resource for practical applications and choices of MD and SB slots he runs. Sebastian and others(including this thread) have done a great job beginning to optimize this build. Personally I think Kystich's list appears to me as a drastic meta'd deck to whats happening on MODO right now in leagues; Bx Eldrazi has really begun taking off and you'll often see it once possibly twice during your league. Another note about leagues that some reading this thread might not be aware of, Wizards doesn't post every 5-0'd list from leagues, so there is always going to be an under representation of whats actually happening in leagues. In addition to that during leagues you will not be paired with other players that have a similar record to you so keep that in mind. Leagues are a solid bellwether but Dailies and MOCS are an even better check of deck viability. Having said all that this deck has legs. To me personally this deck plays like Abzan with an elite top end. In all my testing it feels like pre-ban jund where it doesn't have a decidedly horrible match up against the field.
I'd really like to begin a discussion of match ups against tier 1 and 2 decks as determined by modern nexus (thanks Sheridan) and sideboards.
here is my current sideboard
3 Rest for the Weary
2 Stony Silence
1 Disenchant
2 Celestial Purge
2 Surgical Extraction
1 Ratchet Bomb
1 Revoke Existence
2 Spellskite
1 Memoricide
a few notes; I've moved back to 2 MD ghost quarter 1 Bog, if you're in a heavy burn/zoo/linear aggro meta I can see adding tomb, vault or miren as the third utility land. Rest for the weary is much better in testing than timely, 1 less mana, instant, can often turn on land fall if need be with fetches and GQ or if they fetch turn 2 you can blow them out with it before burn can Command you. I like the spilt of 1/1 of Disenchant / Revoke Existence especially if you have U tron or lantern in your local meta, taking them off of their slaver lock or forcing them to dig for another bridge if they have an active ruins goes a long way. Ratchet bomb has helped a ton of match ups including elves, merfolk, lantern and affinity. I was previously impressed with Memoricide and walked away from it for a bit but its back, Its great in the Bx mirror naming Oblivion Sower, Scapeshift and just general combo and catch all.
Affinity - Having colorless answers to champion as well as plenty of removal and MD ghost quarter go a long way, they're nut draw can still get you if you keep a slower hand in the dark but this is a solid match up and it gets better post board with disenchant, revoke, spellskite, stony & ratchet bomb (often on two or 0 if early enough and opal presents a solid target)
Burn - This is one of the more challenging match ups if they keep a creature heavy hand and we keep a slower hand in the dark but there are MD shambling vents to gain life. Post we get access to rest for the weary, purge and spellskite.
Jund - Any grindy midrange deck BW swallows whole, even Liliannas ultimate isn't enough to truly slow you down, you can often control the size of their goyfs and if lili lands, her +1 often only gets half a card in souls. Post celestial purge provides a lot of utility and you tend to shave some of the top end.
UR Twin - With MD discard and efficient removal spells in PtE and Pact you can often afford to tap out or tap low, souls if a big challenge for them and they often lose access to their graveyard by virtue of relic and bog. Post you bring in purge for their Keranos, Moons and Splinter Twin in addition to your spellskites.
RG Tron - Again a challenge but by no means a horrible match up, MD ghost quarter goes a long in addition to having clean answers for wurmcoil and early hand disruption. Even if they get Karn out on three naturally they're likely going to have to tick down and that brings them into scion token and strangler range or if they go up they've often got 3-7 power on the table to deal with, Ugin is a bit of a blank against us, They can natural Ulamog more commonly than us but just like us they're running one copy in their 60. Post you often have surgical to pair with your disruption and GQ and stony silence to slow down their looks at tron.
Amulet Bloom - this is more of a challenge than tron because of their nut draw but again having clean answers to a resolved titan go a long way in addition to early disruption. Post you've got disenchant for hive mind and amulet, spellskite for slayers', Memoricide likely naming Titan & Surgical extraction to pair with GQ on a bounce land on occasion or summoners pact / Titan / Hivemind taken with disruption.
Merfolk - They need to turn on their lords by having spreading seas if they don't have that we often are able to gum up the board with souls. Turning on processing for blight herder early can be a challenge because of the nature of merfolk as a deck it similar to affinity in that it really doesn't use its grave yard, we can often race them with herder, sower and souls. Post you bring in ratchet bomb (often on 2), disenchant and revoke for vial and seas, don't forget you can GQ your own land if it has seas on it mid combat to create better blocks.
Infect - really enjoy this match up, non damage based removal, souls and GQ goes a long way here, don't remove their infector until after combat unless the game is on the line. Post spellskite, ratchet bomb (often on 1) and disenchant come in.
