ummm...i'd go with:
(no order)
-sonic boom
-an under the radar UGb midrange/tempo deck that my clan has secretly been working on
-mannequin
-Pickles
-The rock
there are more games where a single Mouth of Ronom will help then the fixing of the 1 land it replaces does. +, with the deck already playing Crucible of Worlds, it allows for repeatable removal against decks it may need it against.
if you mean replace the entire basic land idea, there aren't many options for that either. Terramorphic Expanse helps more then Sulfurious Springs, and that only leaves the snow come into play tapped lands.
haha, yeah. but how many games are there where the wrong color screws you over? running snow for one ronom is definately not worth it. also i would disagree about expanse. with crucible its about just as good, but in no way does it justify running snow lands. plus you would have to be much more basic oriented which is not good. the main problem with snow is you have to run many cards just for the benifit of ronom. a BRW should have more than enough ways to deal with creatures anyways. pyroclasm, every removal spell in the format, damnation/***, you name it. plus you have sudden death to get around control decks. i just don't see any way in which this is justified.
i understand that you might as well run them instead of basics, but i believe that in this deck you can't really afford to run mouth of ronom and other snow abusing lands. unless there is a huge need for them it's not nescesary (i can never spell that word :-/)
Gargadon is a good card. I'm not saying that Red doesn't have good cards. They have several cards that make their own archetype. I'm just saying that red doesn't have any format defining cards, like it did with Kird Ape.
