I'm gonna be as rational and objective as possible for my predictions.
I think 1 of these will be announced: Deathrite Shaman is Banned---He is far too versatile and powerful for the format, and one of the biggest problems is that he warps the meta to be either you play him, or your deck doesn't give a rat's ass about him (or you're affinity). (Seriously, theres Twin, Storm, Eggs, Scapeshift, and Tron, that don't care about him, then the rest of the nonartifact meta plays him) Ancestral Vision is Unbanned---There have been pages devoted to this topic... Chrome Mox is Unbanned---this one is a bit controversial, but I think the format can easily hold it, and be fair still, while giving a leg up to control decks (which are currently nonexistant in the format)
EDIT: Also, if Jace got unbanned, yes Jund would play him. Heck, they did it in STANDARD after M11 came out!
I dont seem them banning Shaman only one set after release, he's format warping but not nessisarily detrimental enough for them to ban him so fast. But never know i guess otherwise rest of it seems posible
It isn't a matter of 'losing money.' It is a matter of 'not ripping off your customers.' ANY hobby store selling FTV above MSRP should be allowed to go out of business. It is clear they do NOT appreciate YOUR business. At all.
I Appreciate all of my customers i do my best to make that clear to them, i give them discounts on all kinds of things but that is still all based off of market value of a particular item at any given time and i will be giving them as much of a break that makes sense for the item when an actual value is set by the community, but i see no reason to set it to msrp. It is never as simple as just one line of thought its not just about losing money, and its not just about the value of my customers it is about finding as good of a middle ground as i can. Part of the problem is that i can't even give complete customer appreciation for the product because i already have more customers that want the said product then i will be allotted, so where demand is high and supply is low the price goes up.
So im sorry if that makes you think i should go out of business, but the truth is that it is very hard to be a stable hobby store in the first place so we tend to like making as much as we can we things like this come up.
If you still wish my business to burn to the ground i guess thats your choice.
I know many use paints for this. Does much anyone use markers? if so what kind? i have just always been better at art with markers and pencils then brushes. just curious =]
i tried to look for an answer in the thread but couldnt find it in 1700+ lol
Went 3-1 at fnm really only lost the one match because it was my first game piloting this deck ever. And i should have mulled and didnt realize it. I love making spellskites 5/5's and etched champ was a beast alll night long got many people to misplay spells by fizzling there removing just by activating inkmoths to trigger its metal craft lol
Found myself boarding in the third Doj almost every match though
But was going to use tezz's gambit at first. so glad i went with jace instead worked amazingly on defensive set ups i was basicaly drawing 3 cards a turn with both tezz and jace going.
Again I'd like to repeat it plays alot like legacy fish where you drop one or two beaters and then counter whatever they have using the ponder effects to get what you need. In this deck the whole target = DEAD thing doesn't present as much of a draw back as you'd think. Most things that present a tough challenge ie: tumble magnet and other re-usable target effects come in permanent form and never usually resolve.
What I feel this deck is missing is a vapor snag for permanents so when troublesome things do resolve ie: Pyromancers ascension and khalni heart expedition we can bounce and deal with it, usually an ITR isn't cheap enough because you want to bounce it counter it and drop a dude but because there is no suitable replacement I feel I should try and make space for it.
In testing today I went
1-2 Valkut Pre-board - You need a bunch of stuff in board
4-3 Valkut Post Board - Play tight
4-1 Pyromancers Ascenscion - Just drop one bear and keep counter mana up all day
WUR splinter Control 3-0 We roll regular control, we come out too fast and then we win the counter wars or just mop up before it gets to that
2-2 WW - Kind of a coin flip here but you can do it
2-1 Vamps - Usually you can nix/trade all of their guys and your can snowball better/faster be careful though here YOU are the aggro.
2-0 UW control - See WUR splinter twin
I have yet to test RDW but I feel that is our worst match and nightmare with sooooo much removal. I run tec edges because without them Valkut is a very very hard match, it usually only buys a turn but that is usually all we need.
EDIT: Reading this thread some more I am strongly considering Sundial of the Infinite (witch seems absurd in this type of deck, protip: it saves your illusions from removal on your turn) and Deprive over Psychic Barrier, for sure. Also thinking about making room for the dragon, but seems a bit too expensive for my tastes.
Just remember that even if you counter something that targets one of the illusions its trigger will still go off and it'll still die. I agree that building it like fish is still the way to go. but just pointing that out.
"There is a space in Magic design that we've explored on individual cards but have never explored thematically as a block theme. We started with that theme and then crafted a world that made it make sense."
To me it couldn't be more clear that he's referring to poison, as speculated. That combined with the hint from a year ago that they knew when poison would return makes me feel pretty confident that this will be the major block theme. If you think I'm wrong on this, I'd love to hear what other designs you guys think would fit this description.
As for the returning planeswalker, I think it's likely to be another Lorwyn/M10 'walker, maybe Garruk or Liliana based on the recent comics about their exploits. We'll see I suppose.
It says a returning plainswalker....not a reprinted card......could be a changed walker like vengent...
These are pretty sweet, i espescially think you got the expression on majin buu very well.
