new avacyn is pretty heffy too
Just because this post had no information about what the card's official name is nor the price...
    http://shop.tcgplayer.com/magic/shadows-over-innistrad/archangel-avacyn

And yeah, I would've guessed that she'd be a $10-$15 presale and would drop to $5 within 3 months. I'm pretty shocked that anyone is paying this much for her.

And idk what to take. It's the online banlist/online cardpool so pretty standard in that sense. I currently have Modern Tron so I could make RUG Tron easily and I have Pauper Delver, but if neither of those are good then I could make something else (both seem good though). I only have experience playing pauper delver, and that was pre-COF ban.

    Thanks!

Those are both good online. If you want the easy button for what to pick this can help: http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/pauper#paper

Why is Library of Alexandria banned? It's good and hella expensive but I could apply that description to six other cards that are all legal in the format. It doesn't seem so much better than Sea Gate Wreckage that we have to ban it.
Because the foundation of the EDH ban list is the Legacy ban list.

But yeah, 8 mana is a lot even in EDH. For something that needs to sit in play to provide value, that's a large mana investment. Granted, the value you get can be pretty amazing and you start reaping benefits almost right away, but its hard to drop your pants like that in the late-game to tap out for something like this. The flipside to that is that the black and green ones are the best value and they are also in the colors that are best at creating tons of mana so you can accelerate these out and/or still have mana open when you play these so they end up being far and above the better options.

Right. There are creatures like these that are played (or want to be played) because of the effect and not the body. I think that if f these were 0/1s for 4 mana people would play the hell out of them. Because the effect is worth about 4-5 mana and the body is an after thought. When you feel like you are paying 3-4 mana extra for a sizable body, it doesn't really add to the value of the card.

    None of the above?
8 mana is just way too much for these effects. I so wish they cost 5 and had 3/3 bodies.

We've had this song and dance before. In the majority of commander formats, this card is perfectly fine in white, red, or other combos that don't really get good repeatable draw and search.

In a super cutthroat meta, yeah this won't see any play. But the same can be said of 99% of cards in every set.
This is not that at all. There are cards that say "This is the thing I want to do." And this card is so overcosted and slow that it's just not worth it unless you are aiming for some very specific thematic angle.

In a 4 player game, what RW or W deck wants to spend 13 turns to tutor for a single card? It takes 4 turns (including the one you play it) just to get the first clue. And the problem with RW and W is the lack of action because they lack card draw. Telling Boros that they can tutor for a car in 3 untaps for 5 mana is just not going to fly even in the most casual groups. Basically, the card doesn't do what it promises to do well enough for it to be the choice that wins out - if it cost 2 mana to start up then I would definitely advocate for this being an interesting potentially playable casual card in colors lacking draw/tutor. But for 5 you'd be better off playing a bunch of other cards.

Might have potential for boros or mono white commanders. Especially if there are more clue spamming stuff, it might work. But for every other color yeah this won't see play.
No chance. Boris and monowhite have plenty of other card draw that doesn't take 7 mana and 2 turns. This would best fit in RW or W, but it would still barely crack RW's or W's top 250 cards.

To quote the Aquabats... "It's like Mexican candy; complex flavor..."

Indeed, this is a wonderful card, complex with flavor. Fun, casual card. Great for Commander.
Commander is a format where paying 7 and waiting a full turn to draw a card is unacceptable in any color. The flavor is cool, yes, but this card is so overcosted that it shouldn't see play.

Still a bunch of copies of Oubliette on ebay at reasonable prices if you need the card.
I'm curious what your definition of reasonable is. They could be had for $10-$12 recently and now the cheapest BIN is $24.
Speculating on Pauper just feels dirty. I'm a cold-hearted capitalist with ice in my veins whose pulse quickens at the scent of a fresh dollar just asking to be made, but even I object to that. It's a budget format: the last refuge of the player who has been priced out of everything else. They'd be playing LCGs or a fifty-cent Uno deck missing one of the draw fours they found at Goodwill if it weren't for Pauper.

Pauper has become appealing to non-budget casual players too - if the only appeal was budget people wouldn't play it. And while Modern has destroyed a lot of the cheap decks (Affinity and Tron have doubled in the last year or so) there are still plenty of archetypes that one can play for under $30.
Mono-black Control can also be played without Oubliette just fine.

Mythic is going a little too far IMO.
Gravecrawler is a better Zombie (again, IMO) and it was a rare.

Better has nothing to do with it. This thing is complex, ability-dense, and flashy.
Gravecrawler is probably a more solid card with a more straight-forward application, but the potential upside to this card is pretty big compared to Gravecrawler.

The translation that's floating around instructs you to cast the spell as part of the resolution of the first activated ability, meaning you don't have to follow normal timing restrictions. It's possible there's a sorcery-speed rider on the first ability, but that seems like something that would be obvious to translate correctly.

It wouldn't surprise me if this let you cast sorceries at any time, though, since you're severely limited in what spells you can cast from the brain, and the act of doing so forcibly increments the potential CMCs you can cast (unlike, say, Aether Vial). While the card comes with a way to remove counters so you can go back down to lower CMCs, that also requires tapping the artifact, reducing the frequency of its (ab)use.
Right. A translation I saw made it sound like you could cast Instants or Sorceries at that CMC for free and that the adding of the charge counter was independent of that. Basically it was: "T, 1: Add a counter. You can cast instants or sorceries with CMC equal to the number of charge counters without paying their mana cost."
That seemed almost playable, but this looks like a floating steamer.

Going to enjoy casting sorceries at the end of my opponents' turns.
    With what card?

    can cast sorcery at instant
    How's that?

EDIT: I'm going to wait on the exact wording.

Sorry... missed that. I've noticed a lot less action with old stuff in the last 6 months.

I adapted to the market, offered bounties, and offered good deals for lesser condition cards. I got an hp underground sea by giving the guy 90% of nm value about a month ago. I have sent out 2 badlands, a plateau, and a bayou.

Anyway, that's getting off track. The difficult part of trying to trade on these boards is lining up an even trade and finding someone that wants what you have AND is willing to part with a trop. Not impossible, but it will take some work.
Probably worth mentioning WHEN you did this too.

Nobody I know would trade Revised duals for those. Try selling them here, eBay, etc. And then buy your lands.
