Nice deck, can't wait to see the reports. Have you considered grave pact? It may provide a form of evasion stopping your opponent from blocking if they do not want to sac a creature. Also, if you are lucky enough to have grave pact with skullclamp the card advantage will be unreal lol
You're deck has a good amount of versatile removal. On top of that you have great tutors. Spending six mana just for you to vindicate it, will set your opponent back a turn. If a lot of people run this, I'm thinking about adding a nature's claim.
I agree with Ertai. My current build only has one creature and I noticed better results. Trav's Silver Queen is a great reference for planeswalker decks.
Introduction:
I've wanted to make a Bant Superfiends deck since Tamiyo, Field Researcher was first spoiled. I was working on getting an Angus Mackenzie and Atraxa, Praetors' Voice was spoiled and released in Commander 2016. I worked on multiple versions since then with various creatures and planeswalker ratios. My spells were generally board wipes or creature focus such as swords to plowshares The decks were okay, but I felt I was always that "one turn away" from winning.
I put the deck away for a little until I stumbled across Trav_Ragnar's amazing Sliver Queen: Superfriends Controldeck. I highly recommend his list and especially if you plan on going five colors.
I thought Trav_Ragnar's creature less approach and planeswalker protection was ingenious. I immediately started rebuilding my list by taking out all but one creature and changing the spells. Gone were mana dorks and creatures that protect planeswalkers and in are the multi situational spells. The deck started taking over games. Obviously there are many takes on Atraxa and I hope this list will provide others an approach that might work for their meta. In addition, I welcome advice from the community to constantly improve the deck.
Why Play Atraxa?
Reasons to Play Superfriends Atraxa
You love playing Superfriends
You like to proliferate
You enjoy setting up game winning turns
You like having a four drop broken angel that has Flying, vigilance, deathtouch, and lifelink for a commander!
Reasons Not to Play Superfriends Atraxa
You don't like being the target from the beginning (Broken angel will do that)
Your game plan is not exactly secretive
You don't like playing decks with low creature count
I wish I have the ABUR lands. The good news Atraxa is good at gaining life so if you have to fetch and pay for a shock land you can make up for the loss of life in one attack.
Dovin, Kaya, and Sorin, Grim Nemesis can help as well. Of course if you pull off and Nissa or Ugin ultimate you don't have to worry about loss of life so much. If fetches and shocks are outside your price range then I recommend the BFZ lands, check lands and pain lands. Cheaper lands include the tri-lands, and other tap lands. If I do get a hold of the original duals or a better land comes out I will update the list. My goal is to get a Tropical Island first so I have another Forest/Island to fetch up.
I think its good that Gonti is not a huge target and just a fun card/commander overall never knowing what you are going to get. Although one game I played, my opponent was had Oracle of Mul daya in play
I think I may try vedalken orrery.
